Abstract

Abstract. Remote sensing is composed of many interrelated processes to be able to consider physical objects such as buildings, land, and plants which are objects that can be discussed by applications discussed in various disciplines that discuss geology, forestry, soil science, and geography. The use of GIS and remote sensing for fire monitoring has been widely used. However, this study is the first study conducted in the TNBS area after the Berbak National Park (TNB) in Jambi to join the Sembilang National Park (TNS) in South Sumatra. Hotspot distribution in this study was obtained using Getis-Ord-Gi * statistics, hotspot data collected from 2000-2018 in the TNBS area. The results of the hotspot distribution during the 2000-2018 recorded by MODIS satellites with time acquisition and statistical analysis using Gi* show the results that the hotspots gathered (80% confidence level) outside the TNBS area, which is a mixed fields area. Further studies on causes of fire in terms of socio-economic and cultural needs to be done to get the right advice in reducing the risk of loss of forest cover and diversity in TNBS. Keywords: mitigation, hydrology, DAS

Abstract

Local rice is a very important germplasm in the plant breeding program of superior rice. Jambi is one of the provinces in Indonesia which has a high diversity of local rice. This high diversity includes the diversity of physical characters of the shape and size of grain. This study aims to look at the physical diversity of lokal Jambi rice grains found in Ture Village. Research on the diversity of physical characters of Jambi local rice was conducted in Ture Village, Pemayung District, Batanghari Regency, Jambi Province. The local rice observed were Putih, Layap, Sereh wangi, Sekempol, Putih Kuning, Jarum Mas, Nak Daro and Ketan Hitam. The physical characters of grain that were observed were grain length, grain width, grain shape, rice color. The results showed that Sekepol was a short type of rice, Ketan Hitam and Jarum  Mas were a long rice and the other cultivars were a medium type. Based on the shape of the rice, the Sereh wangi, Jarum  Mas and  Ketan hitam  have a slender shape while the other cultivars are oval. The color of Ketan hitam is red and the other cultivars are white. Keywords : germplasm; local rice; physical characters; grain shape

Abstract

Abstract

Berbak and Sembilang National Parks are conservation areas that become habitats for various types of plants and animals, including birds. This stud ypurpose to find species diversity, species evenness, species richness, dominance, species abundance and bird conservation status in Simpang Village. Data collection was carried out using the point count method and transect as many as 3 points which were assumed to represent one ecosystem, namely swamp ecosystems, shrubs and water bodies. The results obtained were 36 types of birds from 22 families. The value of the diversity index in the type of swamp ecosystem of 2,295 and the water body of 2,940 is in the medium category and the shrub ecosystem of 3,754 is relatively high. The three types of ecosystems have a stable distribution of types ranging from 0.21 < E < 1, no species dominate, but have a varied wealth of species, namely in low swamp ecosystems, medium shrub ecosystems and high water body ecosystems. This is due to the existence of three different types of ecosystems in the village, so that each ecosystem has a diverse species composition. Thus, Simpang Village is still classified as having a well-maintained diversity of birds, but still has to make efforts to conserve birds so that the bird population does not decrease, one of which is through continuous counseling by involving parties to educate and increase public awareness in the conservation of birds and their habitats.
