Abstract

2,5-bis(4-hydroxybenzilidene)cyclopentanone is one of curcumin analog compound. The aim of this research is to synthesize 2,5-bis(4-hydroxybenzilidene)cyclopentanone               from              p- hydroxybenzaldehyde and cyclopentanone using sulfuric acid as a catalyst. Persumably, sulfuric acid, a diprotic acid can be used as a catalyst in synthesizing 2,5-bis(4-hydroxybenzilidene)cyclopentanone. The The research could be clasified as the descriptive explorative non-analytic research with the succedd of synthesizing of 2,5-bis(4- hydroxybenzilidene)-cyclopentanone as the parameter. The research was done by reacting 0,06 mol p-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 0,03 mol cyclopentanone in methanol solution with sulfuric acid as a catalyst. The analysis was occupied with two ways, they were qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative analysis was done in a series of test. They were organoleptic test, solubility test, thin layer chromatography (TLC) test, melting point estimation, elucidation of synthesized compound with infra red (IR) spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) and carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (13C-NMR) spectroscopy. The quantitative analysis was done by estimating the yield of synthesized compound. The research result showed that synthesized compound was a yellowish powder, specified odor, tasteless but it has specified effect on tongue. The melting point of synthesized compound was more than 300˚C. The TLC test showed that synthesized compound has an Rf as much as 0,73 which was different with p-hydroxybenzaldehyde that was 0,84. The IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectra showed that the synthesized compound was 2,5-bis(4-hydroxybenzilidene)- cyclopentanone with yield for about 10,64%.

Abstract

Hair loss is can be a fashionable matter. Green tea extract which the concentration is about 5% can stimulate hair growing (Sumakdjaja, et.al.,2008). The compound in green tea extract are catecine and their derivate. They are epicatecine (EC), epicatecine galat (ECG), and epigalocatecine (EGCG). In green tea axtract there are also contains galat acid, galocatecine galat (GCG), galocatecine (GC), catecine galat (CG), catecine (C), vitamin B and vitamin C (Agus, 2007) which can make hair root stronger, prefent hair loss, to inhibit free radical, neutralize poisson, and protect head skin from infection. People more interest to use cosmetics and foods with green tea extract. There is no hair growth stimulating gel with green tea extract in the market. This is the reason of this research, is to develope hair growth stimulating gel formula. There are four formula in this research. They are formula I (Carbopol 1%, TEA0 3%, and glycerine 1%), formula II (CMC Na 3% and glycerine 1%), formula III (PEG 400 72%, PEG 4000 8%, and glycerine 1%) and formula IV (carbopol 0,75%, TEA 2%, PEG 400 12%, and glycerine 1%). The concentration of green tea axtract in each formula are 5%. In each formula contains 0,1% nipagin as a preservative, and 0,1% sodium metabisulfit. The quality of each gel formula tested by organoleptic test, homogenity test, pH test, spread test, thickening test, protection test, primary iritation test, aceptability test, and hair growth stimulating activity test.

Abstract

In patients with chronic kidney disease who undergo hemodialysis are anemic. Anemia in chronic kidney disease (CKD) can be treated by administration of epoetin. Quality of life is an important aspect evaluated as outcomes of intervention in hemodialysis patients. This study aims to determine differences in the quality of life for patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy with epoetin alfa and epoetin beta in PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital. Cross-sectional study on regular hemodialysis patients in PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital was conducted in November 2014- January 2015. Assessment of the quality of life of patients using questionnaires KDQOL-SF version 1.3. The subjects of this study consisted of two groups, the first group of patients using epoetin alfa for treatment anemia, while the second group is patients taking epoetin beta therapy for the treatment of anemia. Data were analyzed using Levene test, Chi-Square Goodness of Fit, Independent t-test, Mann-Whitney test and ANCOVA. The results showed that in general the overall quality of life for patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy with epoetin alfa and epoetin beta in RS PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta showed different results was not significant (p> 0.05) in the amount of 60.25 ± 12.97, group epoetin alfa and 63.93 ± 15.53 in the epoetin beta group.

Abstract

Liver cirrhosis is a pathological condition that describes the end-stage progressive hepatic fibrosis characterized by distortion of the liver architecture and the formation of regenerative nodules. Based on the DIY healthprofile in 2008, liver cirrhosis was among the top ten causes of death in DIY Province with a prevalence 0f 1,87% in the ninth place. The purpose of this study was to determine the picture of prescribing liver cirrhosis patients in the Outpatient Installation of Panti Waluyo Hospital. This research is a descriptive study conducted retrospectively. The sample in this study was a saturated sample, that is all members of the population medical record data of patients diagnosed with liver cirrhosis in the Outpatient Installation of Panti Waluyo Hospital, used as a sample with due regard to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, namely liver cirrhosis patients from internal polyclinics with or without complications, have clear, complete data and the medical record data at least contains data on name, age, gender, diagnosis, therapy and without complications of HIV and Oncology, as many as 61 sheets of medical records. Based on the results of research during 2019 it was found that male patients were 55,74% and women 44,26%. Complicating comorbidities in liver cirrhosis patients were ascites 39,34%, portal hypertension 19,67%, esophageal varices 11,48%, liver encephalopathy 3,28%. Patients received single drug therapy namely propranolol and spironolactone as much as 1,64%, and received the most combinations of 2 drug combinations, namely propranolol-curcuma as much as 19,67%, and received a combination of more than 2 drugs at most, namely propranolol-spironolactone-curcuma as much as 11,47%
