Abstract

The lack of learning media that facilitates students causes students to experience difficulties in learning. In addition, teachers still have difficulty presenting material for writing fantasy story texts and teachers use learning only to provide material, not at the evaluation stage. This has an impact on students' lack of understanding. This study analyses the validity of the learning media based on the alpha test, the practicality of the learning media and the effectiveness of the learning media. This type of research is development research. The model used to develop the media is Alessi and Trolip (2001), consisting of planning, design and development stages. Data was collected through expert review, interviews, and tests. The research subjects were nine experts, which included media experts, material experts, and linguists. The product trial subjects were 32 students. The technique used to analyze the data is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The alpha test results showed the validity of the learning media of 92.50% with a very appropriate category. Beta test results show the practicality of the product is 85.49%, with an excellent category. It can be concluded that scientific-based learning media plus using adobe flash can be applied in learning to write fantasy story texts. This research implies that teachers in learning can use the developed media.

Abstract

Due to PISA inconsistencies and three years of learning loss, Indonesia's new curriculum paradigm focuses on core skills, particularly reading literacy. In 2021, the minimum competency assessment (MCA) took the place of the national assessment, and since then it has had teachers and students worried about academic success. This research aims to develop valid, practical, and effective PISA-like reading questions to prepare students for the MCA. The development study was used as a grand framework of design research, consisting of a preliminary evaluation stage and a formative evaluation stage. This research involved 45 15-year-old middle school students of varied reading literacy levels. The analysis in this research was conducted qualitatively based on data from interviews, document reviews, observations, and tests to see how students worked on PISA-like reading literacy questions. This research produced valid and practical PISA-like reading literacy questions according to the PISA 2022 framework. In terms of content, the PISA-like reading literacy questions focus on topics of news items. In terms of context, students explore new situations, especially in relation to health. Student competences are measured at the application and reasoning levels. This study suggests that PISA-like reading literacy questions can be a source of inspiration for teachers in designing questions, and they can be used to improve students' literacy skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning on student learning outcomes on anecdote text material. The method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with a quantitative approach, which is designed using a quasi-experimental type with a one-group pre-test-post-test design. The instruments used consisted of written tests and questionnaires. Data were collected through pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire, and analyzed using t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students before and after the application of this model. This can be seen from the average score obtained by students, where the average pretest score is lower than the post-test (67 < 79). Hypothesis testing using the t-test shows that t count > t table (14.25 > 2.03), so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This indicates that the application of the TGT model in Indonesian language lessons on anecdotal text material is effective in improving the learning outcomes of students in class X.2 SMA Negeri 1 Palembang. The results of the questionnaire also showed that the TGT learning model received a very positive response. Thus, it can be concluded that students find the TGT learning model as an interesting and effective process in increasing their learning motivation in Indonesian language lessons, especially on anecdote text material
