Abstract

PT XYZ Belawan has a kernel crushing plant unit that produces Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO) with 700 tons/day capacity. Palm kernel processing is carried out in two pressing stages. The first stage or first press produces oil and cake, while the second stage or second press produces oil and meal. The meal still contains 7-8% of the oil content. This study is aimed to determine the amount of CPKO yield, oil content, and oil losses in a meal during the pressing palm kernel process. The method used was the calculation of the mass balance in each process flow. The mass balance calculation is carried out after collecting the secondary data from the factory, including the analysis of water content, solids, FFA, and oil content. Based on the calculation results, CPKO yield was 48.10% of the average kernel mass rate of 714.7155 tons and met the plant standard of at least 44%. Furthermore, the average yield of oil content from the meal was 7.45% and oil losses were 3.86%.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the competence of high school teachers in Mountainous Papua through training on the use of the Merdeka Teaching platform. This activity is designed as an effort to support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum which requires teachers' skills in utilizing technology and innovative learning methods. This training is designed comprehensively including initial needs analysis, delivery of material about platform features, simulation of use in the context of learning, and continuous mentoring. The results of the analysis of responses to PKM activities showed a significant increase in teachers' understanding of the functions and benefits of the independent teaching platform. In addition, teachers can apply training materials into the learning process such as integrating digital technology in the project-based learning process, carrying out authentic assessments and developing innovative teaching tools. Based on the results of the analysis, it is indicated that practice-based, simulations and continuous training can be an effective strategy in improving teachers' professional competence, especially in areas that face limited access to technology and educational resources.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This article examines the practicality of sociocultural-based interactive digital modules in improving students' science literacy and problem-solving skills by integrating a transformative learning approach. Methodology: This descriptive research analyzes students' and teachers' responses to the developed interactive digital module. The study was conducted in junior high schools in Merauke Regency and Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua Province, totaling six schools. Data were collected through responses from 6 science teachers and 60 students involved in learning science with the module. Main Findings: The results showed that this module is efficient for use in science learning, according to the responses from teachers and students. Feedback from teachers and students indicated that this module is efficient to use in science learning, as seen from the average total percentage given by teachers of 95% in the efficient category and provided by students of 95.53% in the efficient category. Through this article, the developed interactive digital module is feasible to use in science learning to improve science literacy and problem solving skills of junior high school students.. Novelty/Originality of this study: The module is designed with an approach that combines Papuan local wisdom values and transformative learning principles. This approach is rarely implemented simultaneously in the context of science learning to improve students' understanding of science. In addition, the interactive digital module not only focuses on understanding science materials but also connects them with local wisdom to increase the relevance of learning to students' daily lives.

Abstract

Abstrak Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberi sosialisasi dan pelatihan penulisan KTI kepada peserta didik tingkat Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilaksanakan di SMP Kristen Kalam Kudus Merauke dengan melibatkan 70 orang siswa dan didampingi oleh kepala sekolah serta beberapa orang guru. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini adalah ceramah, diskusi, dan praktik langsung. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahap, yaitu survey perizinan, pengenalan KTI, pelatihan penulisan KTI, dan bedah contoh KTI. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah peningkatan pemahaman dan minat peserta didik dalam menulis KTI. Hal ini terlihat dari antusisme peserta didik saat diskusi dan beberapa orang peserta didik yang sudah memiliki ide untuk KTI yang akan ditulisnya. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan pelatihan ini dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa pelatihan penulisan KTI sangat penting dilakukan untuk memperkenalkan KTI dan meningkatkan minat peserta didik dalam menulis. Kata kunci: pengabdian; pelatihan; karya tulis ilmiah. Abstract This community service activity aims to provide outreach and training on writing scientific papers to junior high school students. The training was conducted at SMP Kristen Kalam Kudus Merauke, involving 70 students, accompanied by the school principal and several teachers. The methods used in this training included lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice. The activity was carried out in several stages: permission survey, introduction to scientific writing, training on writing scientific papers, and a review of a sample scientific paper. The results of this activity showed an increase in the students' understanding and interest in writing scientific papers. This was evident from the students' enthusiasm during discussions, with some already having ideas for the scientific papers they wanted to write. Based on the results of this training, it can be concluded that training on writing scientific papers is very important to introduce students to scientific writing and to foster their interest in writing. Keywords: devotion; training; scientific papers

Abstract

Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi literasi sains berbasis PBL bagi siswa, melalui pendampingan yang dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 1 Merauke, diikuti 60 orang siswa dan 1 orang guru fisika. Metode yang digunakan pendampingan dalam kelompok, yang terdiri atas 10 kelompok yang terdiri atas 6 orang siswa. Tim pendamping terdiri atas dosen dan mahasiswa pendidikan fisika yang berasal dari Universitas Musamus. Secara garis besar, kegiatan terdiri atas; persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan monev. Persiapan dilaksanakan untuk melengkapi keperluan pelaksanaan, seperti perizinan secara administrasi, dan pembagian tim pendamping. Pelaksanaan, terdiri atas proses pendampingan yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan sintaks pada PBL, yaitu: orientasi kepada masalah, mengelompokan siswa, pembimbingan, demonstrasi, dan evaluasi. Topik yang digunakan yaitu alat-alat ukur, melalui penggunaan jangka sorong, mikrometer sekrup, dan neraca. Pada bagian akhir kegiatan dilaksanakan monitoring dan evaluasi. Monitoring dan evaluasi dilakukan untuk melihat respon siswa dan guru terhadap pelaksanaan kegiatan. Dilakukan melalui wawancara, hasilnya mendapatkan respon sangat positif, yang diharapkan nantinya akan ada keberlanjutan kegiatan lagi.

Abstract

This study intended to describe the results of the development of an e-module of integrated temperature and heat by using the STEM-contextual approach of Papua. This study was conducted at SMAS YPK. The subjects of this research were class X students of SMAS YPK Merauke who were used to test the product being developed. The research method used is Research and Development (RD) with the ADDIE development model. The instruments used in the study were validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and essay tests. The results of this study are products in the form of STEM-based e-modules. Expert validation results were conducted and show the result 90.6% for material, 91.66% for media, and 85.5% for linguists' parts respectively. Besides, the results of the student response questionnaire were 86.25%, and the teacher's response questionnaire was 97.91%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the development of an e-module of integrated temperature and heat with a STEM-contextual approach of Papua is very appropriate to be used in the physics learning process.

Abstract

The development of a Student Worksheet (LKPD) assisted by PhET Simulation was motivated by the lack of practical equipment in school laboratories. This research aims to develop a Student Worksheet (LKPD) assisted by PhET Simulation on the subject of Sound Waves for Grade XI of Senior High School/Madrasah Aliyah (SMA/MA). The type of research used in this study is Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). During the development stage, the draft LKPD was described in terms of its feasibility and practicality. The feasibility data of the developed LKPD was obtained from the validation results by four experts consisting of two subject matter experts and two media experts using a questionnaire instrument. The practicality data of the LKPD was obtained from the responses of students and teachers to the use of the LKPD using a questionnaire instrument. The research involved 15 students in a limited trial. The results of this study indicate that the average score for the material aspect was categorized as "Very Feasible," and the media aspect was categorized as "Feasible." The data on students' responses to the LKPD was categorized as "Very Practical." The teachers' responses to the LKPD were categorized as "Very Practical." The conclusion of this study is that the LKPD assisted by PhET Simulation is Feasible and Very Practical for learning.

Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia is still low, one of the causes is the low ability to read, in this case reading literacy and critical thinking skills, especially in children. This is based on data that Papua Province ranks last with a score of 19.90 which shows a very low category. Onggatmit Village is one of the villages in Merauke, South Papua Province with many children who are still unable to read and even recognize letters and numbers. Basic literacy needs to be applied early in primary school-age children when brain development can still be shaped. Due to conditions that cannot gain knowledge in school, one of the activities that can be done to improve basic literacy is to conduct basic literacy training for children in Onggatmit Village with word stacking games. This service activity was carried out in four stages, namely survey, socialization, training and monitoring. The results of this service activity run smoothly and can improve basic literacy skills carried out with word stacking games for children in Onggatmit Village.

Abstract

Biobriquettes are products obtained from the compaction process of biomass residue used as fuel and formed by using a binding agent. In this study, the biomass used comprised palm fronds and palm shells. The objective was to determine the characteristics of biobriquettes. The research methodology adopted was quantitative experimentation. Results showed that the highest calorific value of biobriquettes was 6729.92 cal/g (1:3-sago 15%), the lowest moisture content was 1.1168% (1:3-tapioca 10%), the lowest ash content was 9.5232% (1:3-sago 10%) and the highest density was 0.9927 g/cm3 (1:3-tapioca 20%). Based on the test results, it can be concluded that the optimal ratio of raw materials palm fronds to palm kernel shells for biobriquette fabrication is 1:3 with 10% tapioca flour and 10-15% sago flour as binders.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik SMA pada materi suhu dan kalor. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas X salah satu SMA di kota Merauke yang berjumlah 30 orang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif dan data diperoleh dengan memberikan instrumen berupa tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen kemampuan pemecahan masalah berbasis multimodus representasi Rosengrant yang telah dikembangkan peneliti dan telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya sehingga dinyatakan layak untuk digunakan sebagai instrumen tes. Selain itu, wawancara juga dilakukan terhadap guru sebagai data pendukung. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik pada tahap 1 dan tahap 4 lebih baik daripada tahap 2 dan tahap 3.
