Abstract

This study aims to analyze the managerial and organizational culture in one of the Islamic universities in Indonesia that has humanist and Qur’anic characteristics, as well as the forms of its implementation. This is expected to be a differentiator from the organizational culture patterns in other higher education institutions, especially private ones. This study uses an ethnographic approach with a data collection flow that adopts the Spradley model. This method was chosen to understand in depth how the integration of humanist and Qur’anic values is applied in the managerial culture that is characteristic of the university. Data collection was carried out through participatory observation, unstructured interviews, and closed questionnaires. Qualitative data validation used triangulation techniques of sources, methods, and researchers. Data analysis techniques were carried out qualitatively using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study indicate that the managerial culture applied in the Islamic university has unique characteristics, namely integrating the values contained in the Qur’an, which are manifested in real humanistic actions. This can be seen both in terms of regulations and interactions within it involving the leadership, lecturers, and employees. In addition, this study also found how the institution collaborates with external partner institutions.

Abstract

Schools as educational institutions aim to prepare students for future life by developing their full potential through effective teaching and learning processes supported by adequate facilities, a conducive environment, and well-structured lesson planning. The implementation of instructional planning is influenced by several factors, particularly teacher performance as a central component of the educational process. This study aims to examine teacher performance, analyze the principal's strategies in enhancing teacher professionalism, and identify the challenges in improving teacher professionalism at MI Ma'arif 1 Gesing. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that teacher professionalism is demonstrated through academic qualifications and certification status, as most teachers hold undergraduate degrees and teach in accordance with their areas of expertise, experience, and competencies. Furthermore, the institution implements the Ministry of Religious Affairs' curriculum, along with additional extracurricular programs. The primary challenge in enhancing teacher professionalism is addressing the rapid impact of globalization, which requires teachers to preserve and strengthen Islamic values while adapting to contemporary educational developments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal’s leadership strategies in improving teacher performance, identify the obstacles encountered in implementing these strategies, and explain how such challenges are addressed at MTs Ma’arif Ngalian, Wadaslintang District, Wonosobo Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through stages of planning, data collection, description, analysis, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the principal enhances teacher performance by strengthening discipline, fostering work motivation, modeling exemplary leadership, and conducting academic supervision. The principal acts as an instructional leader who promotes continuous professional development. However, several challenges were identified, including low teacher discipline, limited motivation to improve performance, infrequent supervision, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and the limited role of external supervisors. To address these obstacles, the principal reinforces disciplinary policies, promotes human resource development initiatives, conducts regular quarterly supervision, and coordinates with relevant stakeholders to improve physical and instructional facilities. These strategies contribute to strengthening teacher professionalism and improving overall educational quality.

Abstract

Teachers play a crucial role in achieving educational goals, as they directly interact with students in the teaching and learning process. Regardless of how advanced the curriculum, facilities, or technology are, their effectiveness depends on teachers’ ability to implement them. Therefore, analyzing teacher performance is fundamental to achieving the educational process standards. This study aims to: (1) examine teacher performance at MI Tarbiyatusshibyan, Kebumen, Pringsurat Subdistrict, Temanggung Regency in 2023; (2) investigate the roles and functions of the Madrasah Committee at the same school; and (3) assess the influence of the Madrasah Committee’s roles and functions on teacher performance. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method. The findings indicate that: (1) teacher performance at MI Tarbiyatusshibyan is good, with teachers performing professionally in accordance with their duties and responsibilities; (2) the Madrasah Committee has implemented several performance indicators as advisors, supporters, controllers, and mediators, although some indicators remain unfulfilled; and (3) the Committee’s role in enhancing teacher performance is effective. This study highlights the importance of the Madrasah Committee in supporting teacher performance and provides a reference for improving educational quality through effective school governance.
