Abstract

Premature rupture of membranes (PROM) is usually defined as the amniotic sac before uterine contractions occur. In 2018, the incidence of PROM is recorded at around 5% to 10% of all labor cases. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of mothers giving birth with premature rupture of membranes (PROM) at the Manisrenggo Klaten Health Center in 2024. The research method was quantitative descriptive. The study population was all mothers who gave birth with PROM at the Manisrenggo Klaten Health Center. This study used secondary data from the KIA data. The sample in this study used a total sampling technique, namely 25 respondents. Univariate analysis is presented in frequency distribution and percentage. The results of the study showed that the incidence of premature rupture of membranes mostly occurred in mothers aged 20-35 years as many as 18 respondents (72%), multiparous as many as 14 respondents (56%), and premature rupture of membranes occurred at term gestational age (100%).

Abstract

Low birth weight babies are a risk factor that contributes to infant deaths and births, especially during the perinatal period. The impact of the birth of low birth weight babies affects the quality of future generations, characterized by slow growth and development of children and will have an impact on decreasing intelligence. Conditions that occur in low birth weight babies are that the temperature regulation center is not optimal, brown fat and subcutaneous tissue are thin, inadequate muscle growth and organ immaturity. Conditions like this cause low birth weight babies to experience different physiological responses to babies with normal birth weight. The death of low birth weight babies can be prevented using interventions that are inexpensive, easy to carry out and effective, namely the kangaroo method of care. The kangaroo method is a method of caring for newborns by placing the baby between the mother's breasts so that there is direct contact between the mother's skin and the baby's skin. The kangaroo method of care is an alternative for caring for low birth weight babies so that mothers can easily breastfeed their babies more frequently and exclusively. The aim of the research is to review and recommend kangaroo treatment methods that have a positive impact and can reduce morbidity in low birth weight babies. The search method for relevant articles uses Google Scholar and Garuda databases. Search for articles using predetermined keywords and criteria. Using population, intervention, conclusion, and output (PICO) analysis. Conclusion: The kangaroo method is effective as a treatment for low birth weight babies. The positive effect of the kangaroo method on low birth weight babies is increasing the baby's body weight, maintaining the stability of the baby's physiological responses including increasing body temperature, heart rate frequency and oxygen saturation which are consistently within the normal range, and increasing the mother's confidence in caring for the baby.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effect of traditional medicine use on the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases in Berjo Village, Kemuning Subdistrict, Karanganyar Regency. Methods: This research employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population included patients aged 18–65 years with at least one chronic disease diagnosis (hypertension, diabetes mellitus, or heart disease) who had been using traditional medicine for ≥3 months. A total of 28 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The independent variables were the timing and duration of traditional medicine use, while the dependent variable was quality of life, measured using the Indonesian version of the SF-36 questionnaire. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Spearman correlation, and Chi-Square test at a 5% significance level. Results: Respondents who used traditional medicine concurrently with illness had 22 times higher odds of having a good quality of life (p=0.001; OR=22), and those who used it for more than 4 weeks had 48 times higher odds (p=0.000; OR=48).Conclusion: The timing and duration of traditional medicine use are significantly associated with patients’ quality of life, with family support playing a crucial role in treatment decision-making.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is an important period in a woman’s life cycle, which is often associated with changes in emotions and moods. Mental health disorders affect nearly one-fifth of pregnant women during the prenatal and postpartum periods. Some of the mental disorders that are often encountered are depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorders. Mental health disorders are triggered by the social, economic, and physical environment. Identification of risk factors during pregnancy and early intervention will reduce morbidity in women, prevent postpartum mental disorders, and protect the health of the baby. Objective: This study aims to find out the factors that influence the mental health of pregnant women at Puskesmas (Community Health Center) Polanharjo, Klaten. Research Method: This research performed an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample was 83 pregnant women who made ANC visits at Polanharjo Community Health Center in Klaten.
