Abstract

This study aims to examine Dinullah Rayes's poetry which uses the symbol of nature, "jati" by using: (1) heuristic reading; (2) hermeneutic reading; (3) matrix; (4) models; and (5) the variants, in the Jati Niskala Poetry by Dinullah Rayes (2014). This research is library research, because the primary data and secondary data are in the form of books or related documents. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with Riffaterre's semiotic approach and the data collection technique used in this study is the documentation method. The results and conclusions of this study are as follows: (l) The importance of carrying out all the commands of Allah SWT; (2) Never give up on all the tests given by Allah SWT while living in the world; (3) The importance of establishing friendly relations with fellow human beings while living in the world; (4) The importance of not destroying and always protecting the environment; (5) Always good at being grateful for all the blessings that Allah SWT has given to humans while living in the world.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the language style of repetition of alliteration and assonance found in the Anthology of Guru Musafir Ilmu's Poetry: 97 Guru 3 Negara. This study utilizes stylistic theory as a tool to help researchers dissect the object of study. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data is the Poetry Anthology of Pilgrims of Science by 97 Teachers from 3 Countries. The data analyzed in this study are the language style of repetition of alliteration and assonance in the Anthology of Guru Musafir Ilmu's Poems by 97 Teachers of 3 Countries. The results of this study indicate that language style is used by poets to add aesthetic value to the poetry they produce. The use of repetition language style in the form of alliteration serves to emphasize something that is many and continuous and emphasizes an identity. The use of repetition language style in the form of assonance serves to emphasize the personality and identity of a person or character in poetry, emphasizes the personality of a person or character in poetry, and confirms the personality of a person or character in the poem.

Abstract

V. Lestari is an author who has a different genre from most writers at that time. V. Lestari is more inclined to specialize in writing criminal-detective stories, which is a type of story that requires special care and expertise to compose. And what is even more distinctive is that all of his novels feature the main female character as a detective. The Legacy of the Past Novel is one of the works written by V. Lestari. This novel tells about a boy who is still in elementary school named Kiki. This research examines the psychological elements as an approach because this approach emphasizes more on research on the psychological elements and psychological conditions of the characters. The psychological conditions experienced by the characters in the novel Inheritance of the Silam by V. Lestari are analyzed based on Sigmund Freud's personality theory through Id, Ego and Super Ego. The results of this study are, the personality structure of the main character Kiki and David's subordinate character is dominated by primary processes (imagining and imagining), the ego personality structure of the main character Kiki and David's subordinate character due to encouragement from Id (because ego is the executive or executor), and the structure Superego personality of Linda's subordinate character is dominated by condition and trauma, excessive fear.

Abstract

This book provides a comprehensive exploration of the integration of technology in second language (L2) writing instruction. It examines the evolution of technology’s role in L2 learning, particularly in writing, where individual practice is crucial. The book consists of 11 chapters encompassing research and development reports on the application of technology, especially machine translation (MT), in the L2 writing learning process. While 90% of the content focuses on research results, a conceptual review in one chapter highlights the limitations of MT in English as a foreign language (EFL) writing. The book caters to L2 teachers and language learning researchers, offering valuable insights into using MT and wiki writing as effective learning instruments. Additionally, it presents novel strategies, such as using Wikipedia to hone critical thinking skills, and introduces handwriting automation for L2 writing assessment. Despite its merits, the book’s structure, content balance, and limited readership accessibility are areas requiring improvement. Nonetheless, its research findings and practical implications make it a valuable resource for L2 educators seeking to harness technology in writing instruction.

Abstract

The research focuses on exploring the structure and function of the Karimongkong folk tale through a qualitative approach. Three analytical perspectives—structural, functional, and interpretive—are employed. The data is obtained by downloading the story, and thoroughly analyzing its components such as characters, setting, theme, plot, and underlying message. The story's significance is examined within the social and cultural contexts. The findings reveal that Karimongkong portrays the journey of a determined young man from a humble background who confronts obstacles and rejection, conveying moral values of resilience, familial love, and loyalty. Set in the village of Muer within the Plampang district, the tale revolves around the themes of determination and courage in the face of challenges, progressing from character introduction to Karimongkong and his family's blissful life. While the function of this folklore is used to protect people's expectations, legalize the rules of customary institutions, regulate behavior, and create cultural identity. This research enhances comprehension of the structure and purpose of folk tales, which inspire bravery, determination, and affection.

Abstract

Kemampuan siswa menulis surat merupakan salah satu bagian keberhasilan pembelajaran berbahasa dan sastra Indonesia. oleh karena itu, meningkatnya pemahaman peserta didik dalam menulis surat dapat mencerminkan kemampuan peserta didik dalam berkomunikasi. tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kemampuan”menulis surat” lamaran pekerjaan”pada siswa kelas XII Madrasah Aliya Imam Ufairah Diha, Kecematan Belo Kaupaten Bima. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif yaitu dengan cara mempresentasikan option untuk mengambil kesimpulan setiap variabel penelitian. Selain itu peneliti menentukan kelas yang akan diteliti dengan memberikan tugas, pemberian evaluasi yang diakhiri dengan penyajian materi dalam bentuk soal. Data yang diperoleh digunakan sebagai data mentah yang akan dianalisis lebih lanjut. Metode Pengumpulan Data dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga bagian yaitu Metode observasi, Metode tugas, dan Metode dokumentasi. Untuk menganalisis data pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan sistem penilaian acuan patokan (PAP) yaitu dengan mengubah skor mentah ke skor standar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan peserta didik kelas XII Madrasah Aliya Imam Ufairah Diha dalam menulis surat lamaran pekerjaan 2020/2021 dikategorikan cukup baik. adapun prosentasenya adalah yang memiliki kempuan tinggi sebanyak 23 peserta didik (79.31%), kemudian yang memiliki kemampuan dengan standar cukup (sedang) sebanyak 6 peserta didik (20.69%), sedangkan yang rendah tidak ada (0%)

Abstract

Dalam beberapa dekade terakhir, pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di sekolah telah mengalami perubahan menuju pendekatan berbasis genre, yang menekankan pemahaman dan penguasaan berbagai jenis teks sebagai sarana untuk mencapai kompetensi komunikatif. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi respons siswa terhadap penerapan pendekatan genre dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SMPN 9 Semarang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan jumlah sampel 38 siswa. Analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas siswa merasakan manfaat positif dari pendekatan ini, merasa efektif dalam memahami materi dan meningkatkan kemampuan mereka. Selain itu, pendekatan genre juga memengaruhi motivasi belajar siswa, dengan sebagian besar merasa termotivasi untuk belajar Bahasa Indonesia. Selain keterlibatan siswa, pemahaman materi juga terbukti meningkat, sebagaimana tercermin dari analisis data. Meskipun pendekatan genre memberikan dampak positif, masih ada tantangan yang dihadapi siswa, dengan beberapa mengalami kesulitan dalam proses pembelajaran. Namun, penggunaan sumber daya tambahan dan partisipasi siswa dalam pembelajaran membantu mengatasi hambatan tersebut. Sebagai Kesimpulan, pendekatan berbasis genre di SMPN 9 Semarang memberikan dampak yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, melalui peningkatan keterlibatan, motivasi, pemahaman materi, serta partisipasi siswa

Abstract

A novel is an art form that is used to convey messages and meanings to readers or viewers by language. However, understanding its message requires an approach. One approach that can be used is the structuralism approach. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to understand how the narrative structure in the novel influences the meaning and message that the author wants to convey. This study will use the method of structuralism analysis to identify important elements in the novel, such as characters, plot, setting, theme, etc., and how these elements are interrelated and influence the meaning and message to be conveyed. This analysis reveals that the analysis of structuralism in the novel "Warisan Masa Silam" by V. Lestari shows that this novel has strong characteristics and elements in building a story, including characters, plot, themes, and settings. This analysis result makes this novel a literary work that deserves further enjoyment and study.

Abstract

This article discusses the application of corpus linguistic methods in second language acquisition (SLA) research. It highlights the significance of utilizing native and learner corpora, along with automated tools for corpus annotation and analysis, to explore various aspects of SLA. The article is based on a book titled "Corpus Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition: Perspectives, Issues, Findings," which covers five chapters. These chapters delve into topics such as variations in L2 usage at a group level, factors influencing L2 processing and production, group-level longitudinal trajectories of L2 development, and inter- and intra-learner variability in L2 development. The book aims to provide valuable insights and methodologies for researchers interested in employing corpus linguistic methods to enhance their SLA research.

Abstract

Humans are creators of cultural products to be passed on to the next generation. One of the cultural products created by humans is the Cafi Sari tradition. This tradition is carried out from generation to generation. However, nowadays, many people do not know the meaning and function of the Cafi Sari ceremony tradition, which they still preserve. Therefore, this study aims to explore the meaning and function of the cafi sari tradition to provide understanding to the millennial community as heirs of the tradition. This study uses a phenomenological approach to understand the meaning of an event and human interaction in certain situations. Then, the theory used in this research is folklore theory. Data collection techniques use the methods of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the Cafi sari ceremony was performed when a new mother gave birth. It starts with the ritual of Cafi sari, or cleaning the sari or floor after 7 days of giving birth. The meaning contained in this ritual is a clean and healthy life behaviour starting from food, drink, environment, body hygiene, and the right goal in living the life of the world to the hereafter. In contrast, the Cafi Sari ceremony tradition functions as a ritual function, social function, religious function, and educational function. Keywords :  Tradition of Ceremony, Folklore, Cafi Sari
