Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government had implemented a policy which changed face-to-face learning to distance learning. However, there is still a need for teachers to optimize the quality of students' education. This goal is in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number four, namely quality education. By getting a quality education, people can break the chain of poverty. Through education, inequality can be reduced, and people can be empowered to live more sustainably and healthily. The purpose of this research was to analyse students' coping strategies during distance learning. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The research was conducted in Jakarta from May to June 2021. The population was Universitas Negeri Jakarta students. The sample was selected using a cluster sampling technique of as many as 211 students. Data collection uses a coping strategy scale consisting of 39 items derived from the dimensions of problem-focused coping, emotional-focused coping, and seeking social support. The t-value of 0.110 with sig 0.913 > 0.05 shows no significant difference in average coping strategies between female and male respondents. The ANOVA revealed F-value of 0.329 with sig. 0.805 > 0.05, which means there is no significant difference in the average coping strategy of respondents based on birth order. The results of the analysis showed that the students' coping strategies were in the high category. Over time, students can adapt to the learning techniques used in the classroom. The problem-focused coping dimension has the highest average value, so this research concludes that students focus on dealing with the problem when faced with one. Students try to analyse the causes of the problems they face, plan steps to deal with problems, and make efforts to change the situation carefully. There is no difference in the average value of female and male students' coping strategies. Students are more dominant in using problem-focused coping as an effort to deal with stress when implementing distance learning. Students must be able to overcome their problems with appropriate coping strategies to achieve quality learning in education.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the relationship between academic stress and academic performance in students of Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Al-Hamid. This research is a quantitative correlation research with survey method. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with a population of 252 students. Then the slovin formula produces a sample of 155 students. Retrieval of data using the Educational Stress Scale instrument. The data analysis used includes the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The data that has fulfilled the validity and reliability tests were processed to produce a Pearson correlated value of 0.189. The results of the analysis conclude that there is a positive relationship between academic stress and academic performance. Based on these results, students who experience stress will actually be more motivated to study harder. The higher the stress or pressure that students feel during the learning process, the more motivated students will be to be more diligent in learning and better at carrying out the assignments given by the teacher. This of course will make students' academic grades better. The stress that students experience is positive stress or eustress. Positive stress makes students not give up with the pressure they experience but on the contrary, positive stress will bring a sense of enthusiasm and desire to fight against academic pressures. The ability of students to turn negative stress into positive stress is inseparable from the daily activities of students which affect their behavior such as always thinking, praying and fasting which can reduce negative thoughts and excessive feelings of anxiety.

Abstract

Community service activities are carried out in an effort to strengthen women's capacity so they can develop the jumputan batik home industry and the millennial version of natural fashion designs. Operationally the product of community service activities is jumputan cloth using natural dyes. The training materials for community service activities are the skills of making jumputan batik patterns with natural characteristics, as well as green campaigns on environmental preservation and sustainable lifestyles through getting used to implementing 7R (recycle, reuse, reduce, replace, repair, replant, refill). Counselling on environmental materials in sustainable development was delivered in a planned manner to 27 Coastal Communities in the North Jakarta Region virtually. The community is expected to be able to design skills. In the virtual process, they have shown: enthusiasm, collaboration, curiosity, participation in providing ideas, discipline, new ideas, creativity, interest, ability to express opinions and motivation. The millennial version of natural character fashion products can soon be widely promoted at the local, regional, national and global levels. Demand for fashion products with coastal batik motifs with a millennial version of nature shows the high enthusiasm of coastal communities in North Jakarta for products with the concept of supporting a circular economy by implementing the 7R.

Abstract

Environmental pollution poses a significant global challenge. The use of environmentally friendly milk bottles can minimize the impact of pollution and is a safer choice, especially for infants. This study aimed to analyze the effect of product knowledge and environmental concerns on the purchase intention of environmentally friendly milk bottles. Employing a quantitative approach, the study involved 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The findings show the simultaneous impact of product knowledge and environmental concerns on the intention to purchase environmentally friendly milk bottles. This implies that higher consumer knowledge about the product and increased environmental awareness is positively correlated with a greater inclination to buy environmentally friendly milk bottles. The implication of this study underscores the importance of promoting awareness and education regarding the use of environmentally friendly products to enhance consumer intentions toward such products.

Abstract

This research aimed at investigating the students’ motivation in English learning as a second language. Motivation is considered as a key feature in the success of language learning and has great effect on the efficiency and productivity of English language teaching.Students’ English learning orientation from the perspective of various important motivation concepts (from Gardner’s integrativeness/instrumentality to motivational self-system) and the notion of English as an international language. According to Rost (2006) motivation has been called the “neglected heart” of language teaching. Without student motivation, there is no pulse; there is no life in the class. The issue of motivation, particularly in EFL settings, is so important that other considerations about teaching methodology seem to pale in comparison. It is important to think about motivation as the essence of language teaching because of the stark realities of learning English for most of our students.

Abstract

Early marriage is a marriage that is carried out under the age of 19 and generally does not have the readiness to build a family physically, economically, emotionally and has not thought about the impact of family resilience. The purpose of this study was to determine the background, causal factors and family resilience of early marriage. This research uses a qualitative case study method. There were 12 primary and secondary informants. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and document studies. Data analysis uses the theory of Miles and Huberman (1984) and checks the validity of the data by triangulating data sources. The results showed that the background of early marriage was due to a lack of education for the community regarding the impact of early marriage, a feeling of shame for neighbors who were married but themselves were not married, and a feeling of fear of becoming an old maid. The factors of early marriage are fear of causing fitnah, being matched because they have seen a prospective husband who is already working, the condition of parents who are not intact so they cannot afford to pay for children's schooling, the influence of social media and peers. The findings of this study are that early marriages are generally conducted “siri” because of the ease of access compared to official marriages. The level of family resilience of early marriage couples is still vulnerable, especially the legality of family integrity, physical resilience, economic resilience, and socio-psychological resilience.
