Abstract

Abstract

The application of marine biology courses cannot be separated from field practicum activities which are integrated with the main scientific pattern of Pattimura University, namely build nobleh marine, meaning that the marine biology lecture process is a goal of developing human resources. One of the competencies of marine biology courses which emphasizes is that students must understand the life of various types of marine invertebrates that live in each coastal water ecosystem and must also master how to observe and research various types of marine invertebrate life found in each zone of coast (intertidal zone and subtidal). The results of the findings of various types of marine invertebrates were carried out by diversity analysis, the results were 2.0 <H'=2.363836 ≤ 3.0, meaning the level of diversity was medium. The relative density of invertebrates on various substrates includes sand 25%, density on sandy gravel substrates 9.9%, muddy substrates 11.4%, coral substrates 15%. The distribution patterns of various types of invertebrates can also be explained according to the results of analyzes including (1) clustered distribution patterns occur in Crustacea (Emita sp, Harpiosquilla raphidae, Ocypoda cursor), Gastropoda (Nerita polita, Conus sponalis), Bivalvia (Venerupis corrugate), (2) The distribution pattern is uniformly occurs in invertebrates of Bivalvia (Anadara broughtonii, Mytilus trossulus, Tridacna rosewateri, Pinctada radiate), (Diadema setosum, Holothuria scabra), Gasropoda (Strombus decorus). Proving the truth of the concept or theory of various types of invertebrates in biology courses the truth of the sea has been tested through field practicums in the coastal waters of Salahutu District, Ambon Island

Abstract

Understanding and student learning outcomes have become a major problem in education today. There are various learning models that can be used by teachers, including the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Compocition (CIRC) learning model. This study aims to determine the application of the CIRC learning model in improving Biology learning outcomes. The type of research used in this study was descriptive quantitative with a sample of 29 students. The sampling technique uses cluster random sampling. The instruments of this study are observations and tests. Observation guidelines are carried out to determine the objective learning conditions carried out by teachers and students. The test used in this study is in the form of student learning results obtained in the implementation of the test. The results showed that the application of the CIRC learning model can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This community service project was conducted in the coastal area of Leitimur Peninsula, Ambon City, to strengthen local economic capacity through the implementation of a blue economy based on circular economic principles. The program aimed to enhance seafood processing skills, promote waste utilization for value-added products, and develop community-based digital marketing. The participatory approach engaged local communities, village authorities, and academics through technical training, entrepreneurship mentoring, and community-based evaluation. The results indicated significant improvement in production capacity, business management, and environmental awareness among coastal residents. This project produced an integrated empowerment model adaptable to local characteristics and replicable in other coastal regions. Recommendations emphasize institutional collaboration to expand sustainable economic impact.

Abstract

In Maluku, mole crabs are only used as food ingredients by a small number of coastal communities. In Seilale Village, Nusaniwe District, Ambon Island, mole crabs (called "hotong") are processed by grilling or burning using skewers or thin wood, stirfried with kang vegetables, or fried. The regressions used are from the species of Hippa ovalis, H. marmorata and H. celaeno. This research was conducted in the waters of Rumahkay, Haria, and Amahusu Villages Morphometry results and growth analysis with allometry also showed a linear relationship on the growth of each species. Relevant results from the study showed a significant nutrient content in mole crab Hippa genus. Mole crabs Hippa genus which has abundant unsaturated fatty acid makes mole crabs have become an alternative that has a potentially high economic value, an alternative source of nutrition from fish, and an alternative source for income to the local community specifically in coastal sandy beach areas in general

Abstract

Science education in island regions, particularly in Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency, faces challenges in developing contextual learning that reflects local potential. Many science teachers have not yet integrated ethnoscience elements and deep learning approaches into their teaching materials. This community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ capacity through training and mentoring in the development and implementation of deep learning–based ethnoscience teaching materials. The method used was a participatory–collaborative approach in the training and implementation of ethnoscience-based learning, which included the stages of preparation, training, implementation, and reflection. In the initial stage, the lecturer team conducted observations and interviews in several junior high schools in Salahutu to identify teachers’ needs and to design contextual training materials and learning tools. The training was carried out through workshops on developing teaching modules, learning materials, and student worksheets (LKPD), followed by mentoring during classroom implementation. The results indicated an improvement in teachers’ understanding and skills in integrating local natural and cultural potentials into science learning. Evaluation through questionnaires, reflections, and student interviews revealed that this approach fostered more meaningful, contextual, and relevant learning experiences. Overall, the program contributed to strengthening science teachers’ professionalism and enriching culturally responsive educational practices in island-based learning contexts
