Abstract

This study aimed to analyze flavonoid and 6-gingerol content and to test the hypoglycemic effects of industrial-grade Cajanus cajan (pigeon pea) leaf and Zingiber officinale rhizome (ginger) extracts on hyperglycemic rats. Extraction utilized maceration with 70% alcohol at PT. Insular Multi Natural. Extracts were characterized and analyzed for flavonoids and 6-gingerol content. Hypoglycemic activity was assessed using the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) on rats with induced hyperglycemia via 90% sucrose solution. The results indicated higher flavonoid content in C. cajan leaf extract (4090.09338.23 mg/100 g) compared to Z. officinale extract (622.74203.39 mg/100 g), while gingerol content in Z. officinale extract was 701.524.42 mg/100 g. This study concluded that combination of industrial-grade pigeon pea leaves extract and ginger extract reduce the level of blood glucose in hyperglycemic model rats at all combination dose (150:150, 200:100, and 100:200 mg/kg BW). The combination dose of 200:100 mg/kg BW showed the best blood glucose level profile.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate three sets of B1 gene DNA primer for the diagnosis of Toxoplasma gondii. The DNA of Toxoplasma gondii that stored on liquid nitrogen was isolated using DNAzol reagent. The first step of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCRs) was performed using external and internal primer sets, respectively, and then nPCR. PCR products sequencing was performed by Apical Science. All sequences were analysed using CLC Sequence Viewer Version 8.0 software and compared to sequence database that deposited in ToxoDB (Toxoplasma gondii genome database) using BLAST (https://toxodb.org/toxo/app). Each B1 gene primer was evaluated by performing single PCR (forward and reverse) and nested PCR reactions. Three sets of B1 gene primer have different amplification precision. According to the results of amplicon sequencing, the primer set #2 has the best amplification precision of B1 gene.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the safety of ethanolic extract of Acalypha hispida (A. hispida) leaves with acute toxicity test using 15 female rats strain Sprague-Dawley. A single dose of different doses of extract (2, 4, 8, and 16 g/kg body weight) was administrated orally, and theobservation was conducted for 14 days. The results revealed that the ethanolic extract of A. hispida leaves was relatively harmless (LD50 16 g/kg BW), did not affect body weight, and did not show clinical signs of toxicity during the observation periods. The parameters of blood serumbiochemistry of all extract-treated groups (alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, creatinine, and urea) did not change significantly compared to the control group. The histological observation of the liver showed a significant increase in eosinophilic cytoplasm and basophilic nuclei at all doses. However, the ethanolic extract of A. hispida leaves did not significantly affect glomerulus/Bowmans capsule ratio, glomerular cell density, and the proportion of normal cell tubule. In conclusion, the ethanolic extract of A. hispida leaves was relatively harmless with LD5016 g/kg BW and seems to be safe in low doses (2 g/kg BW).

Abstract

The existence of UMKM in the midst of society has a positive impact on their survival, especially at the economic level.  To be able to continue to survive and compete, innovations are needed. One of the efforts made is to innovate the product.  Products that were originally packaged simply is innovated into more modern packaging with attractive designs and brands. This is supported by a digital marketing system so that products can be known more widely.  In addition, the quality and cleanliness of the product need to be considered to prevent and avoid contamination. The activities carried out were divided into three sessions, the first session on sanitation, the second session on product innovation which includes labeling and packaging, and the last session on digital marketing.  The results of the discussion showed that the type of packaging used in the form of a standing pouch with the trademark "Hampleu" and label design was obtained from 38 of the 49 voting results.  Digital marketing that is implemented utilizes public platforms, namely Instagram, Facebook and Shopee.  The risk of contamination in products is avoided by reviewing related sciences and starting to apply them by washing hands, wearing gloves, and masks.

Abstract

Manajemen penyelenggaraan makanan untuk pasien di rumah sakit masih berkaitan dengan ilmu dan aspek terori maupun praktik yang dipelajari pada studi teknologi pangan. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari proses penyelenggaraan makanan yang berkaitan dengan pengawasan mutu pada alur penyelenggaraan makanan yaitu pada kegiatan penerimaan bahan makanan, penyimpanan bahan makanan, persiapan bahan makanan, pengolahan, dan distribusi makanan. Metode yang digunakan pada studi ini adalah kerja nyata, observasi secara langsung dengan mengamati kegiatan di area lapangan, menjalankan wawancara dan berdiskusi, pendataan, serta kajian pustaka. Analisis data yang dikerjakan pada studi ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil studi ini menyatakan pada penerimaan bahan makanan terdiri dari bahan makanan segar dan bahan makanan kering. Sortasi dilakukan pada penerimaan bahan makanan untuk memisahkan bahan yang memenuhi standar mutu dan spesifikasi dengan yang tidak memenuhi standar mutu. Penyimpanan bahan makanan dilakukan pada ruang penyimpanan dengan suhu ruang untuk bahan makanan kering, walk-in chiller untuk sayuran dan buah-buahan, dan freezer untuk penyimpanan daging segar. Persiapan bahan makanan dilakukan pada ruangan yang berbeda untuk persiapan bahan sayuran, buah-buahan dan daging segar dengan menggunakan perlatan yang dikhususkan untuk masing-masing bahan makanan. Pengolahan bahan makanan dilakukan dengan beberapa metode pemasakan yaitu merebus, mengukus, memanggang, menyetup, menggoreng, dan menumis. Distribusi makanan dilakukan dengan pemorsian makanan yang disajikan dalam kotak makanan yang kemudian didistribusikan langsung kepada pasien oleh petugas dari instalasi gizi. Upaya yang dilakukan dalam pengawasan mutu ini berupa penyortiran bahan makanan ketika barang diterima, pencatatan stok dan alur bahan makanan, kontrol suhu penyimpanan untuk setiap jenis bahan makanan, kebersihan alat dan ruangan yang digunakan.
