How do sufis understand al-Aḥrūf al-Muqaṭṭa’ah and 2). What signs and symbols do they say from the al-Aḥrūf al-Muqaṭṭa’ah. This research is included in the ‘Ulūm al-Qur’ān study. In the term of orientation, this research is included in an effort to explain elements that are still widely debated and not well understood. The data sources used used in this study cinsited of two types, namely primary data sources and secondary data sources. Those included in the primary data sources are the work of the exegesis of Ḥaqāiq al-Tafsīr written by al-Sulāmī, Laṭāif al-Ishārat written by al-Qushayrī and Tafsīr al-Jaylānī written by Abdul Qadir al-Jaylānī. There are twoconclusion obtained from this study. Abstract

The discussion of qira'at is one of the most fundamental studies in Ulūm al-Qur’ān. This is closely related to various factors that can lead to various issues. The method of recitation is also considered as one of the proofs of the authenticity of the Qur’an. The fact proves that through authentic and even mutawatir narrations, the qira’at imams teach it meticulously and directly (musyafahah). Furthermore, in its implications, differences in recitation methods may lead to discrepancies in determining the legal rulings contained within a verse. Such biases may also occur in other aspects of Islamic teachings, such as creed, ethics, and others.

Abstract

This study presents one of the stories in the Qur'an, namely about the figure of Dhul-Qarnayn. This figure is interesting to discuss because his existence is often associated with various famous figures in human history. The mufassirun have diverse opinions regarding the true identity of Dhul-Qarnayn. Additionally, there is the notion that the story about him might merely be symbolic, meaning that this figure never definitively existed in history. This research aims to address these issues through thorough analysis and exploration of related verses, interpretations by scholars, and argumentative comments from intellectuals. The results of this study are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the story of Dhul-Qarnayn in the Qur'an.

Abstract

This article aims to explore various issues surrounding the establishment of the Mushaf ‘Uthmani. This research reveals many intriguing aspects worth highlighting, from the perspectives of the Companions, scholars, and orientalists. The Mushaf ‘Uthmani, the official version of the Qur’an compiled during the caliphate of Uthman ibn Affan, has often been the subject of debate and in-depth study. The Companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who were direct witnesses to the revelation of the Qur’an, had diverse views on the compilation and writing of this mushaf. Some Companions fully supported this process, while others raised criticisms and concerns. Both classical and contemporary scholars have made significant contributions to interpreting and understanding this codification process. They explore the historical, theological, and philological aspects of the establishment of the Mushaf ‘Uthmani, influencing how Muslims view their sacred text. Additionally, Western orientalists have long been interested in studying this process from a critical and academic perspective. Their approaches often differ from traditional Islamic views, sparking dynamic discussions and debates among academics. This study not only delves into the history of the establishment of the Mushaf ‘Uthmani but also considers its implications for the development of Qur’anic studies, from both the internal perspective of Muslims and the external perspective of orientalists. Through a multidisciplinary approach, this paper offers a comprehensive understanding of the complexities and dynamics surrounding the establishment of the Mushaf ‘Uthmani, while also opening up space for further discussion in the future.

Abstract

This research concludes that from the Al-Qur'an perspective, the maritime concept with a blue economy perspective is an integral approach, where the utilization of marine resources, which are referred to as al-Bahr and al-yam in the Al-Qur'an, needs to integrate several aspects interrelated maritime affairs. Reduction of one maritime aspect can result in ineffectiveness in dealing with the complexity of maritime problems as a whole. The framework used in this research includes the following aspects:First, Aqidah: Humans are seen as caliphs who are responsible for the universe that Allah rules. Second, Sharia: Maritime natural resource utilization activities must be in accordance with the principles of Islamic law. Third, Morals: Improvement with adaptive innovation for the efficiency of natural resources, fair distribution, and consumption that does not damage or waste natural resources. This research supports the views of several figures such as Robert Maltus, Langdon Gilkey, Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Donella H. Meadow, Arne Naess, Edith Brown Weiss, and Gunter Pauli, who emphasize the need for wise management of natural resources for sustainability. The research method used is a qualitative method with the Tafsir Maudū'i (thematic) interpretation method. This research differs from the views of several figures, such as Hugo Grotius, Adam Smith, David Ricardo, Immanuel Kant, and Garret Hardin, who have different views regarding natural resource management. Thus, this research proposes a holistic approach based on Islamic values in viewing and managing marine resources to achieve economic and environmental sustainability.
