Abstract

Every ship that sails must be repaired to maintain seaworthiness and the safety of its users. Ship repairs that are carried out will take a considerable amount of time, so planning and scheduling must be completed before the repair process begins. The scheduling process at the shipyard is generally still done manually, involving the creation of a list of repairs. It has the potential to cause delays and increase the costs incurred. The use of the Critical Path Method (CPM) is an option to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the repair process in terms of time and labor, and of course, minimize costs. This study aims to determine the effect of using the critical path method in the ship repair process, utilizing a literature review of several scientific articles. Of the 15 articles used in this study, 14 reported that the use of the critical path method enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of the ship repair process.

Abstract

The elderly are vulnerable individuals, so their health needs to be improved. Knowledge of the elderly about maintaining health also needs to be improved. One way to improve the health of the elderly is through elderly exercise. The purpose of this implementation is to increase the knowledge of elderly about elderly exercise. The implementation method is divided into three stages. The first stage is to make preparations (coordination with partners, for example, caregivers), the next stage is to carry out activities (implementing counseling and simulation of elderly exercise), and the last stage is evaluation. The implementation was carried out in RW 6 Balowerti on 2-7 June 2021. This implementation was followed by 38 elderly. Based on the results, pretest were obtained almost half (47.4%) of the elderly had less knowledge levels, in the posttest it was found that most (57.9%) of the elderly had a good level of knowledge. From the results of the test, it can be concluded that there is an influence of health education and simulation of elderly exercise on the level of knowledge of the elderly.

Abstract

Regular physical exercise is crucial for healthy aging, yet many elderly face psychological barriers that prevent consistent participation. This study analyzed self-control and resilience as psychological predictors of regular physical exercise in the elderly, used a quantitative correlational design. Sixty respondents aged 60-70 years with simple random sampling. Data were collected used Brief Self-Control Scale and CD-RISC-10 for resilience instruments, while the level of participation in regular physical exercise was measured based on attendance to the physical exercise four times a week. The data were then analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. The results showed a significant correlation between self-control (r=0.721, p-value 0.002), resilience (r=0.618, p-value 0.003). Regression analysis revelead that self-control (β = 0.55, p-value 0.000) and resilience (β = 0.51, p-value 0.002) significantly predicted exercise behavior, explaining 28% of the variance (R² = 0.28). These findings suggest that elderly with higher self-control and resilience are more likely to maintain a regular exercise. The results support the development of health promotion programs that incorporate psychological training to strengthen self-regulation and adaptability in the elderly. Future research should explore the other predictors of physical exercise in elderly. Strengthening psychological resources is a key strategy to well-being in elderly.

Abstract

Reducing fuel consumption in fishing vessels has become an important issue in improving the efficiency and sustainability of maritime operations, particularly for small and medium-scale fisheries. One potential approach is the integration of wind-assisted propulsion systems such as wingsails. However, the addition of structures above the deck may influence vessel stability and motion responses in waves. This study evaluates the effect of wingsail integration on the seakeeping performance and intact stability of a fishing vessel operating in Benoa, Bali. The reference vessel has principal dimensions of LOA 33.50 m, LPP 29.65 m, breadth 7.95 m, depth 4.06 m, draft 2.90 m, and displacement 415.6 tons. Analysis is conducted using Maxsurf Stability for intact stability assessment and Maxsurf Motion for seakeeping analysis. The seakeeping evaluation considers wave headings of 90°, 135°, and 180° with vessel speeds of 6, 8, and 10 knots, while sea conditions are derived from Beaufort scale conversion. Vessel motions are assessed using RMS, MSI, and MII according to STANAG 4154, while stability is evaluated under departure, fishing ground, and arrival load cases based on IMO Intact Stability Criteria.
