Abstract

Environmental stressors are external factors that can negatively impact aquatic life, especially fish, as they are considered the main indicators of ecosystem health due to their sensitivity to environmental changes. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of stress in fish (especially catfish and tilapia) based on the blood glucose concentration of fish cultivated in Magelang Regency, Central Java. The data analysis used was spatial analysis to describe the spatial conditions of topographic parameters, air temperature, pond water temperature, and blood glucose concentration of fish (tilapia and catfish). Crosscorrelation multiple variable analysis was used to determine the correlation coefficient value between each parameter. The Crosscorrelation Multiple Variable Analysis method with the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation model. The results of the analysis of blood glucose concentration of catfish were 59.59 mg/dL and tilapia 87.80 mg/dL, so in general it can be concluded that the influence or correlation between water parameters on the level of stress of fish in the Magelang Regency area is tiny, which indicates that the condition of catfish and tilapia is not experiencing stress, where the average blood glucose is still at a normal level. The correlation coefficient value between water temperature and blood glucose of tilapia is -0.06, and that of catfish is -0.41, which means that the relationship between pond water temperature and stress levels of tilapia and catfish is fragile.

Abstract

Low optimization of fishery product diversification development becomes the fish farmer problem in Magelang District, although capable of increasing the selling value and creating the business opportunities for fishery products. In addition to product diversification, a marketing strategy needs to be performed, so the product absorption and demand are easier in the market. Based on this condition, community service actions were carried out to train and assist the process of fishery product diversification production and marketing strategies to increase the community income. This activity was held in Wonosari Hamlet, Gunungpring Village, Muntilan District, Magelang Regency, from September - October 2022. The service participants were residents of Wonosari Hamlet, especially housewives. This activity was implemented through field observations, socialization, counseling, training, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. The diversified products that were used as objects in this activity contained fish samosas, kaki naga, high pressure smoked milkfish, and otak-otak bandeng. During the service implementation, participants were asked to produce fishery products, after being explained by the lecture team, before finally describing the marketing strategies to increase the community income, especially the Wonosari hamlet community. Based on the evaluation results, this service program has increased the understanding, skills, quality, and quantity of fishery products, which can have an impact on the regional food security through training and community assistance.

Abstract

Feed is one of the main components with important function to support the freshwater fish culture success. Sufficient feed quantity and quality can ensure the fish culture cycle continuity. Feed occupies the highest position, which spends 60-80% of the total production cost requirement in intensive fish culture to support the fish growth. The high feed cost is unmatched with the fish selling price, resulting in a minimum profit gain. Based on this condition, a community service, focusing on self-produced feed training needs to be implemented to increase the cost efficiency and effectiveness in freshwater fish culture. This training was conducted in Gunungpring Village, Muntilan Sub-district, Magelang District with fish cultivator communities. The feed used as the object for this training contained artificial and live feed. Training activities contained surveys, field observations, outreach, counseling, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. This training could clearly introduce the community to the use of alternative feeds for ornamental and consumed-fish commodities. Live feed production training included Azolla sp., Daphnia sp., silkworms, and earthworms, while artificial feed included pellets of pf500-1000. This training program increases the community understanding and skills, followed by the quality and quantity of fishery products. As the training also has an impact on the regional food security with massive community assistance, so harvest failure can be minimized optimally.

Abstract

Ikan gurami dengan nama latin Osphronemus gouramy merupakan salah satu ikan air tawar yang memiliki nilai ekonomi tinggi. Kandungan air yang cukup tinggi pada ikan menjadi penyebab terjadinya penurunan mutu dan kesegaran ikan karena mudah membusuk. Upaya menghindari pembusukan atau kemunduran mutu pada ikan biasanya dilakukan dengan cara pendinginan, namun terdapat keterbatasan yaitu umur simpan daging relatif pendek. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh perendaman karagenan rumput laut Kappaphycus alvarezii, serta mengetahui dosis karagenan yang optimal untuk digunakan dalam mempertahankan kesegaran ikan gurami. Metode yang digunakan antara lain uji nilai organoleptik, uji Total Volatile Base Nitrogen (TVB-N), dan uji Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) yang disimpan selama 0, 3, dan 6 hari pada suhu 4oC. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karagenan berpengaruh sangat nyataterhadap nilai organoleptik dan  TVB-N,  namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap uji ALT. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa dosis karagenan yang optimal untuk mempertahankan kesegaran ikan gurami adalah 500 ppm.AbstractGourami fish with the latin name Osphronemus gouramy is a freshwater fish that has high economic value. Fish has a fairly high water content so that the quality and freshness of the fish decreases because it rots easily. Efforts to avoid spoilage or deterioration in quality of fish are usually done by refrigeration, however refrigeration still has limitations, namely the relatively short shelf life of the meat. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of soaking Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed carrageenan extract, as well as determine the optimal dose of extract to be used to maintain the freshness of Gourami Fish. The methods used include organoleptic value tests, Total Volatile Base Nitrogen (TVB-N) test, and Total Plate Count (TPC) test which are stored for 0, 3, and 6 days at 4oC. The results showed that carrageenan extract had a very significant effect on organoleptic value and TVB-N, but had no effect on TPC test. Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that the optimal dose of carrageenan to maintain the freshness of gourami fish is 500 ppm.

adinya penyakit diabetes mellitus (DM). DM dapat diobati dengan obat tradisional dari tumbuhan yang mengandung senyawa antidiabetik seperti flavonoid. Flavonoid tersebut berperan dalam menghambat kerja aktivitas enzim α-glikosidase. Apabila aktivitas enzim α-glikosidase terhambat maka peningkatan kadar glukosa darah juga akan terhambat. Senyawa flavonoid ada pada beberapa jenis Caulerpa sp. seperti C. serrulata, C. racemosa, dan C. lentillifera. Tujuan dilaksanakannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui potensi antidiabetik pada tepung C. serrulata, C. racemosa, dan C. lentillifera. Pada penelitian ini tepung Caulerpa disubstitusikan dalam mie dan diujikan pada tikus. Parameter yang diujikan antara lain kadar glukosa darah, berat badan dan indeks glikemik. Metode yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) 2 Faktorial dengan Faktor 1 adalah jenis Caulerpa dan Faktor 2 adalah besar dosis. Data kadar glukosa yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik dengan sidik ragam (ANOVA) dengan taraf signifikan 5% dan apabila perlakuan terhadap variabel yang diamati menunjukkan perbedaan maka dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) sedangkan analisis indeks glikemik ditentukan dengan membandingkan luas area di bawah kurva (Area Under Curve atau AUC) mie Caulerpa dan glukosa. Hasil analisis kadar glukosa darah menunjukkan perlakuan yang diberi tepung Caulerpa mengalami penurunan kadar glukosa darah pada tikus. Hasil terbaik penurunan kadar glukosa ditunjukkan pada perlakuan C1D2 (C. serrulata dosis 15%) dengan penurunan sebesar 44,58%. Perbedaan jenis Caulerpa tidak menunjukkan adanya beda nyata, sedangkan pada perlakuan dosis menunjukkan adanya beda nyata. Hasil analisis berat badan tikus menunjukkan adanya rata-rata mengalami penurunan. Sedangkan pada hasil uji indeks glikemik, nilai IG terkecil bernilai 37,9 pada pelakuan C3D1 (C. lentillifera dosis 10%). AbstractFood is a factor that can increase blood glucose levels or cause diabetes mellitus (DM). DM can be treated with traditional medicines from plants that contain anti-diabetic compounds such as flavonoids. These flavonoids play a role in inhibiting the activity of the α-glycosidase enzyme so that they can inhibit the increase in blood glucose levels.. Flavonoid compounds exist in several types of Caulerpa sp. such as C. serrulata, C. racemosa, and C. lentillifera. The purpose of this study was to determine the antidiabetic potential of C. serrulata, C. racemosa, and C. lentillifera flour. In this study Caulerpa flour was substituted in noodles and tested on rats. Parameters tested included blood glucose levels, body weight and glycemic index. The method used was a 2-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with factor 1 being Caulerpa type and factor 2 being dose size. The glucose level data obtained was analyzed statistically using variance (ANOVA) with a significance level of 5% and if the treatment of the observed variables showed differences then it was continued with the Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) while the glycemic index analysis was determined by comparing the area under curve (Area Under Curve or AUC) Caulerpa noodles and glucose. The results of the analysis of blood glucose levels showed that the treatment that was given Caulerpa flour experienced a decrease in blood glucose levels in rats. The best results for reducing glucose levels were shown in the C1D2 treatment (C. serrulata dose of 15%) with a decrease of 44.58%. The different types of Caulerpa did not show a significant difference, while the dose treatment showed a significant difference. The results of the analysis of the rats' body weight showed that the average had decreased. Whereas in the glycemic index test results, the smallest GI value was 37.9 in the C3D1 treatment (C. lentillifera dose of 10%).

Abstract

This study's main focus is how the adaptation level affects the treatment of shelter composition in controlled containers. Parameters observed included growth rate, stress level, fish survival rate, and water quality during rearing. The research design used a completely randomized design (CRD) and was analyzed using SPSS. The results showed that the shelter composition was good for the C. limbata survival in experimental group 3 (P3) by placing the addition of sand, stones, gutters and aquatic plants in the aquarium. The effect of the composition of the shelter in a controlled container on the adaptation level of C. limbata was shown in experimental group 3 (P3), which experienced an increase in length of up to 5 mm, and an increase in weight of 25 g and a survival rate of 60%. This value is the best among 1st, 2nd, and control. This shows that the C. limbata can adapt its life to an artificial habitat that is as suitable as its natural habitat.

Abstract

Wastes can be managed into a good source of energy and animal feed to become more economically valuable and profitable. However, only a small amount of this waste is absorbed as an energy source, and becomes food for fish and animal. Several wastes that can used for animal and fish feed are vegetable waste, fruit waste, household and restaurant food waste, namely waste rice, meat, eggs, bones, coconut dregs, grains, etc. These wastes have the potential to be used as fish and animal feed. The food waste availability is quite abundant and has not been utilized to support the cultivation of fish and animal. These wastes are expected as alternative feed ingredients to cut the feed costs effectively and efficiently. If these ingredients are applied, community service activities are necessary regarding the manufacture of alternative feed ingredients from organic waste for fish and animal feed. The service was carried out in Wonosari, Gunungpring Village, Muntilan District, Magelang Regency, in September – October, 2023. Service participants were 15 residents of Wonosari, four students, and nine lectures from Tidar University. Materials in this service focuses on providing education on the types of organic waste that can be used as feed ingredients. The waste is processed through several stages of drying and milling. This service program increases the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing fish and animal feed. Training has an impact on reducing the feed costs effectively through training and community assistance, so that fish and animal farming activities can be carried out efficiently.

Abstract

Produksi ikan lele di Kecamatan Kaliangkrik mengalami peningkatan pesat dari 360,67 ribu ekor, menjadi 15.158,00 ribu ekor. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan perlu adanya perluasan lahan budidaya untuk menunjang kegiatan budidaya agar tidak terjadi budidaya dengan padat tebar yang berlebihan. Akan tetapi, perbedaan topografi di Kecamatan Kaliangkrik dapat berpengaruh terhadap kondisi perairan dan kadar glukosa darah ikan lele. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah perbedaan topografi dan suhu berpengaruh terhadap glukosa darah ikan lele. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Bulan November 2024 di Kecamatan Kaliangkrik, Kabupaten Magelang. Penelitian dilakukan dengan data primer seperti parameter perairan, parameter meteorologi dan sampel darah 30 ekor ikan lele. Hasil pengukuran parameter kualitas air selama penelitian yaitu, suhu (23,1-25,1 oC), pH (7,2), DO (6,02 mg/L), amonia (0,3 mg/L), nitrat (2 mg/L). hasil pengukuran parameter meteorologi yaitu, topografi (516-777 mdpl), suhu udara (22-25,75 oC). Hasil pengukuran rata-rata glukosa darah yaitu, 66,14-72,14 mg/dL dan dinyatakan normal. Hasil persamaan regresi antara suhu air dengan glukosa darah Y=1,5731+2,8643X, yang berarti apabila suhu air meningkat satu satuan, maka glukosa darah akan meningkat 2,8643. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa, topografi dan suhu yang berbeda dapat mempengaruhi kadar glukosa darah ikan lele

Abstract

Peningkatan permintaan benih ikan di Indonesia membutuhkan ketersediaan pakan alami yang berkualitas, di antaranya Daphnia magna. Namun, ketersediaan Daphnia magna masih mengandalkan tangkapan alam yang bersifat musiman dan beresiko membawa penyakit. Meskipun berbagai penelitian telah dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan Daphnia magna menggunakan pupuk organik, penggunaan fitoplankton sebagai sumber nutrisi masih belum banyak diteliti. Tiga jenis alga hijau (Chlorella pyerenoidosa, Scenedesmus sp., Selenastrum bibraianum) memiliki potensi sebagai sumber nutrisi untuk kultur Daphnia magna karena kandungan protein, lemak, da karbohidrat yang tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk pengaruh perlakuan media alga hijau yang berbeda (Chlorella pyrenoidosa, Scenedesmus sp., dan Selenastrum bibraianum) terhadap pertumbuhan populasi Daphnia magna. Penelitian pengaruh perlakuan media alga hijau yang berbeda (Chlorella pyrenoidosa, Scenedesmus sp., dan Selenastrum bibraianum) terhadap pertumbuhan populasi Daphnia magna dilakukan selama 14 hari. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri 3 perlakuan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan menggunakan jenis alga hijau yang beberbeda yaitu P1 (Chlorella pyrenoidosa), P2 (Scenedesmus sp.), P3 (Selenastrum bibraianum) dan masing-masing kelimpahan 150 x 104 sel/ml. Berdasarkan hasil analisis ANOVA bahwa pemberian alga hijau yang berbeda (Chlorella pyrenoidosa, Scenedesmus sp., dan Selenastrum bibraianum) berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan populasi Daphnia magna, dengan nilai F hitung 6,793. Kemudian untuk mengetahui perbedaan antar perlakuan dilakukan analisis DMRT. Hasil analisis DMRT menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P1 dan P2 memiliki pengaruh yang sama tetapi, perlakuan P2 dan P3 menunjukkan perbedaan, sehingga untuk P3 diberi simbol b. Selain itu, berdasarkan nilai rata-rata DMRT perlakuan P1 memiliki dosis yang terbaik untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan populasi Daphnia magna dengan nilai rata-rata sekitar 526,10 ind/l.
