Abstract

This study analyzes the differences in waste sorting behavior between Indonesia and Germany using Hofstede's cultural dimensions: power distance, individualism-collectivism, and uncertainty avoidance. Despite efforts to manage waste, this research helps explain why developing countries, including Indonesia, face challenges in implementing pro-environmental behavior, particularly in waste sorting. A literature review is used with a cross-cultural psychology approach, which critically examines how culture influences psychology. Within the power distance culture, Indonesia requires role models in environmental policy implementation, while Germany exhibits high public participation in waste sorting. Indonesia, as a collectivist society, tends to sort waste jointly in communities, whereas Germany, an individualistic society, emphasizes individual responsibility. In the uncertainty avoidance culture, Indonesia needs standardized rules and waste bank facilities, while Germany enforces clear regulations and sanctions to strengthen waste sorting behavior. In conclusion, there are differences in waste sorting behavior between Indonesia and Germany related to policy factors. Also, several efforts can be considered to improve waste sorting behavior in Indonesia. Further research is recommended to conduct more exploratory and comprehensive studies in each cultural dimension, considering other internal and external factors.

Abstract

The phenomenon that emotional violence is considered as "ordinary love disputes" so that it naturally occurs and is misinterpreted as a form of love is a cause for concern. Research has found that emotional abuse has the most damaging and painful effects because it directly attacks a person's core self-esteem, creating more lasting wounds than other forms of abuse. Early adult women are vulnerable to experiencing emotional abuse because they are in search of meaning and purpose in life through interpersonal relationships based on trust and are in a phase of forming romantic relationships. This research aims to understand more deeply about the description and dynamics of psychological well-being in early adulthood, especially in women who experience emotional abuse in dating relationships. The design used in this study is qualitative with an interpretive phenomenological approach. The criteria set by the researchers in this study were women who were in the early adulthood stage (18-40 years) who had experienced emotional abuse in dating relationships with a total of two participants involved in this study. The results of the analysis found that emotional abuse affects the level of psychological well-being of the two participants. The low level of psychological well-being that participants experience when experiencing emotional abuse makes it difficult to get out of the cycle of emotional abuse in the dating relationship. The uniqueness found by researchers is that the influence of distance or differences in domicile between participants and partners is a factor in helping participants to escape emotional abuse in the dating relationship.

Abstract

This psychoeducation aims to help the PARIKESID youth group meet their needs, namely the need to optimize the self-development of youth in the SIDOSERMO area and to help the PARIKESID youth organization attract youth to participate in social activities and join the PARIKESID youth organization. Psychoeducation is carried out using Lecture, Audio Visual, Sharing, Game, Discussion, Pretest and Posttest learning methods, as well as Self-Reflection. The weak institutional management of the PARIKESID Youth Organization in optimizing the potential of its members is the most influential problem in the organization. Moreover, with the current growing power at Karang Taruna PARIKESID, this has made the younger generation around Sidosermo not see the importance of interaction in youth organizations

Abstract

Javanese, with their unique values, behaviors, and habits, represent the largest population among the many ethnicities in Indonesia. They adhere to specific values to maintain happiness in their lives, namely narima (acceptance) and rila (compliance). These values have psychological significance as they encompass resilience and the ability to regulate emotions. Furthermore, from a psychological perspective, resilience and emotion regulation play crucial roles in shaping the happiness of the Javanese population. Therefore, this study explores the relationship between emotion regulation, resilience, and happiness among the Javanese population. 250 Javanese from East Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta were involved. This study utilized the interdependent happiness, resilience, and emotion regulation scales. The findings showed a significant relationship between resilience, emotion regulation, and happiness among Javanese. Both independent variables accounted for 51.8% of the happiness experienced by the participants. Therefore, these findings shed light on the psychological processes and mechanisms underlying happiness among Javanese.

Abstract

Selametan tolak bala is a ritual that Javanese people usually do during the pagebluk period. During the current Covid-19 pandemic, some people still carry out this ritual. This study seeks to examine from a psychological point of view why the ritual is still carried amid restrictions on community activities. This research was conducted by literature review method using sources from books, previous research, articles from mass media and website pages, aiming to collect theories and pieces of information relevant to the topics studied in this research. The results of this research are selametan tolak bala could be a form of problem-focused coping if the practitioners believed that this ritual could stop the outbreak. It could be a form of emotional-focused coping if the practitioners believed that this ritual is done to eliminate the anxiety. As Javanese local wisdom, whatever the meaning coping strategies, selametan tolak bala could be one of the efforts in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in reducing anxiety levels. Therefore it had to be done by enforcing strict health protocols to avoid the possibility of increasing positive cases of Covid-19 after the ritual implementation, which thwarts the ritual’s purpose.

Abstract

Need for achievement is an inner drive possessed by individuals to achieve the desired goals. The theory used in this study is David McCelland's theory with the need for achievement theory (1971). The purpose of this study was to determine the dynamics and description of need for achievement in SMP X Surabaya students. This research used a qualitative study approach. The choice of method and design is in accordance with the research objectives, namely to explore the need for achievement from the subject's point of view along with the dynamics that arise in the data collection process. The results of this study indicate that both subjects have a high need for achievement, because they have aspects of need for achievement and are followed by several attitudes such as self-confidence, gratitude, the role of spirituality, positive meaning and so on.There are several factors that make both subjects have a need for achievement, including having class goals and being balanced with productive activities so that they can make both subjects become empowered. Not only that, the attitude of a champion's heart is also determined by having an unyielding attitude, a hardy person, self-confidence, and having a sense of gratitude. Such a big push makes both subjects also have a need for achievement.

Abstract

One of the service companies in Surabaya is currently undergoing a generational leadership transition, marked by the emergence of millennial leaders in key positions. This study aims to explore the leadership style of a millennial leader in a multigenerational team context, with a focus on identifying behaviors aligned with the four dimensions of transformational leadership: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through participant observation over three working days and semi-structured interviews with the subject. The findings indicate that the subject actively applies transformational leadership, particularly through motivational encouragement, coaching, and inclusive decision-making processes. Although direct observation revealed stronger expressions of inspirational motivation and intellectual stimulation, interview data confirmed the presence of all four transformational dimensions in the subject’s leadership approach. This leadership style contributes to a positive team climate, increased engagement, creativity, and productivity. The study reinforces the relevance of transformational leadership in managing multigenerational teams and highlights the adaptive capacity of millennial leaders in contemporary organizational settings.
