Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). This virus attacks the immune system by destroying one of its important elements, namely white blood cells known as T lymphocytes or lymphocyte cells. This study aims to analyze the influence of population mobility on the spread of HIV in North Sumatra Province using the SEIR (Susceptible, Exposed, Infected, Recovered) model. The data used includes the population and new HIV cases in 2023 in 33 districts/cities in this region. The SEIR model was modified to take into account the level of population mobility to calculate the disease transmission rate. The results of the analysis show that areas with high levels of mobility, such as Medan and Deli Serdang, have a significant number of new HIV cases, 1,200 and 144 cases respectively. In contrast, areas with small populations and low mobility, such as Pakpak Bharat and North Nias, recorded low or no HIV cases. This research shows a correlation between population mobility and the spread of HIV, so prevention strategies are needed that focus on areas with high levels of mobility.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the relationship between investment decisions, high-risk profiles, and medium-risk profiles with emotional anxiety among aggressive investors in Java during 2020, addressing the underexplored psychological dimensions of investor behavior. Method: Adopting a quantitative observational research design, the study utilized panel data comprising 20 observations from 7 cross-sections over the 2020–2022 period. Panel regression analysis was conducted to assess the impact of the variables on emotional anxiety, with data sourced from credible institutions to ensure reliability. Results: The findings indicate that investment decisions, high-risk profiles, and medium-risk profiles do not significantly influence the emotional anxiety of aggressive investors. A low R-squared value suggests that these variables account for only a small proportion of the observed variation in emotional anxiety. Novelty: This study provides fresh insights by highlighting the limited explanatory power of traditional financial and risk-related factors on emotional anxiety, suggesting the need to explore broader psychological and behavioral elements. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating emotional factors into risk management strategies, enabling policymakers and practitioners to better address investor resilience amidst market volatility. By focusing on the intersection of financial and psychological aspects, this research contributes to a nuanced understanding of aggressive investor behavior in the Indonesian capital market.

Abstract

The mineral water industry has grown rapidly in recent decades, as people have become more aware of the importance of quality drinking water. However, overexploitation of groundwater to meet the needs of this industry can cause significant environmental damage. This abstract discusses various measures that can be taken to mitigate environmental damage due to the drilling of water sources for the mineral water industry. One of the main solutions is to implement stricter regulations related to groundwater extraction. This includes limiting the amount of water that can be withdrawn by mineral water companies, as well as implementing higher water quality standards. The government also needs to conduct stricter supervision of mineral water industry activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Another important effort is to encourage the use of more environmentally friendly technologies in the water intake and treatment process. For example, the use of reverse osmosis systems that are more water-efficient than conventional methods. The mineral water industry also needs to educate the public about the importance of preserving the environment, and encourage community participation in efforts to conserve water resources. In addition, it is important to develop alternative water sources for the mineral water industry, such as treated surface water or seawater. This can help reduce the pressure on.

Abstract

Most farmers in the Perdana region are engaged in cultivating rice, secondary crops, and other seasonal plants. To produce fertile crops with abundant yields, proper management is essential, such as providing quality and balanced fertilizers. Currently, farmers use chemical fertilizers due to their availability, without considering the long-term negative impacts, which include (1) health problems, (2) soil fertility degradation, (3) water pollution, and (4) destruction of microorganisms. Therefore, KKN student group 07, in collaboration with agricultural extension workers, organized an outreach program in Perdana village to educate farmers about the benefits of organic fertilizers and to train them in making organic fertilizers. The purpose of this education and training is to change the behavior and mindset of farmers in Perdana village to utilize rice plant waste for fertilizer, thereby producing fertile crops, abundant and healthy food, and achieving greater economic efficiency. The education and training employed direct communication techniques and group approaches, including outreach sessions. Evaluation results from pre-tests and post-tests achieved an ideal effectiveness score of 80% and an N-Gain Score of 0.5, indicating a moderate improvement. The outreach activities were conducted smoothly and effectively, and participants were enthusiastic about applying the training results and requested continued support from agricultural extension workers.

Abstract

Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) is a form of implementation of the Tri Dharma of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Kalimantan Selatan, which is located in Jejangkit Pasar Village, Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan Province. People's livelihoods are dominated by the agricultural sector. In this regard, observations made found that most farmers use non-organic fertilizers on agricultural land, either purchased independently or in the form of subsidies provided by the government. Meanwhile, based on the results of interviews with representatives of farmer groups, it was revealed that the level of need of farmers in Jejangkit Pasar Village for non-organic fertilizers is very high, while farmers' knowledge about the impact of non-organic fertilizers is still low, especially on the environment. So it is necessary to provide provisions to farmers in Jejangkit Pasar Village so that they can transition from using non-organic fertilizers to organic fertilizers. Through KKN activities, the 10 UNUKASE 2024 KKN groups carried out training and direct practice in making Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) from bamboo roots carried out by resource persons from the Jejangkit Agricultural Extension Center (BPP). As a result, all the farmers who attended understood how to make PGPR from bamboo roots and as many as 71.42% of the farmers who attended stated that they wanted to apply PGPR fertilizer to their agriculture.

Abstract

The Community Learning Center (PKBM) is a non-formal education unit in Indonesia established by the community and functioning as a hub for education, training, and community empowerment services. PKBMs provide an alternative pathway for individuals who are unable to access formal education. One such institution in West Kalimantan is PKBM Adam, located in Kubu Raya Regency.  In daily activities, both teachers and students commonly bring bottled mineral water, leading to increased plastic waste. The plastic bottles eventually pile up, creating environmental concerns and diminishing the aesthetic value of the surrounding area. To address this issue, it is essential to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to recycle plastic waste into filament, which can serve as raw material for 3D printing.  As part of this collaboration, university lecturers designed and developed a pultrusion machine and a 3D printer. The program was implemented through several stages, including partner site visits, group discussions and socialization sessions, equipment development, and hands-on training for teachers and students on how to operate the tools provided. Furthermore, pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to assess participants' comprehension of the activities.  The results demonstrated an 80% improvement in teachers' and students' understanding. After the training sessions, teachers and students were able to operate all of the provided equipment effectively. Moreover, the implementation of this program successfully reduced plastic bottle waste within the PKBM Adam environment.
