Abstract

Nitrogen is a macro nutrient needed by plants. Generally, people use inorganic fertilizers to fulfill nitrogen nutrients in plants. The problem then is, the continuous use of synthetic nitrogen fertilizers has a direct negative impact on the soil and a derivative impact on human health. The use of microorganisms, in this case bacteria, to provide nitrogen to plants can be done by isolating it and making it a biological fertilizer agent. Nitrogen fixing bacteria was isolated on the land of the oil palm plantation of PT Astra Agro Lestari. The isolated nitrogen-fixing bacteria were then tested quantitatively for their ability to fix nitrogen. The bacteria with the highest nitrogen fixing ability were then identified by sequencing their DNA nucleotide bases so that the bacterial strains were identified. The result is that there are 13 bacteria that are able to fix nitrogen with the codes J1, J3, Q5, L1, L11, J31, D1, M6, M5, R1, P2, J4 and C7. The quantitative test shows that bacteria with code D1 are the best at fixing nitrogen in the form of NH4, namely 0.27 ppm. The results of D1 bacterial DNA nucleotide base sequencing showed that the putitive Bacillus aerius strain 24K with identical values and query cover reach

Abstract

Abstract Putak is a feedstuff as an energy source for livestock, but its high crude fiber content limits its use in feed. In this study, palmyra sap (PS) was used as an additive in fermentation putak. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of the level of use of PS in putak fermentation on pH, lactic acid and ammonia. Four treatments and five replications. Treatments were (PN0): fermentation putak without  PS (0%); (PN1) putak fermented with 10% PS; (PN2) putak fermented with 20% PS (PN3) putak fermented with 30% PS. Putak fermentation is made with 35% moisture content and fermented for six days. Data on changes in pH, ammonia, and lactic acid were analyzed by analysis of variance and continued with Duncan's multiple range test at a confidence level of 0.05. The results showed that pH, ammonia and lactic acid were significantly (P<0.05) affected by the level of PS. The pH and ammonia levels in the treatment PN0 were significantly higher than the other treatments (PN1, PN2, dan PN3). Lactic acid levels in treatment PN0 were significantly lower (P<0.05) than in treatments PN1, PN2, and PN3. It can be seen that the decrease in pH is inversely proportional to the level of ammonia and directly proportional to the production of lactic acid in the fermented putak. It was concluded that the level of addition of PS affected the value of pH, ammonia, and lactic acid. The addition of 10% dry matter sap produced the highest lactic acid content. Penggunaan  10% nira lontar menghasilkan kadar asam laktat tertinggi. Abstract

The objective of this study was to asses the effect of different feeding substrates (FS), harvesting times (HT), and the interaction between FS and HT on the chemical composition of black soldier fly larvae (BSFL). The experiment used a 4 x 2 factorial arrangement with two main factors, FS (T1, T2, T3, T4), and HT (15-d and 20-d). Thus, there were eight treatment combinations, all together with five replications. The results show that there was no interaction (P>0.05) between FS and HT on dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), crude lipid (CL), phosphorus (P), gross energy (GE), and amino acid contents. The ash content of BSFL grown on T2 media and harvested on day 15 was higher (P<0.05) than those grown on T2 media and harvested on day 20. The calcium (Ca) content of BSFL grown on all media and harvested on day 20 was higher (P<0.05) than those harvested on day 15. In conclusion, combining fruit wastes and tofu by-products produced BSFL with high CP content but low CL, ash, Ca, and P contents. In addition, BSFL grown on all substrates media and harvested on day 15 had better CP, Ca, and P contents. The dispensable amino acid of BSFLs fed with T3 diets was the best. The lowest body weight gain was produced by feeding a substrate containing a high percentage of rice bran. The findings indicate that the best nutrient composition of BSFL as animal feed would be achieved in early harvest time (15-d) and grown in heterogeneous feeding substrates.

Abstract

Public perception generally limits the understanding of probiotic functions in broiler chickens to solely replacing the role of antibiotics, overlooking their other potential benefits. Therefore, a comprehensive systematic literature review (SLR) is warranted to elucidate the multifaceted advantages of probiotic addition on the development and overall performance of broiler chickens. This SLR adhered to the PRISMA guidelines. A total of 84 articles from 35 Scopus-indexed journals were screened and included following the PRISMA stages. The selected articles were subsequently visualized using covidence. The findings revealed eight key benefits of probiotics in broiler chickens: 1) enhanced growth performance; 2) improved gut health; 3) enhanced immune performance; 4) improved metabolic status; 5) reduced stress levels; 6) improved meat, carcass, and bone quality; 7) antibiotic replacement; and 8) enhanced synergistic effects with other feed additives Systematic Literature Review (SLR): Pengaruh Penggunaan Probiotik Terhadap Produktivitas Dan Tingkat Pertumbuhan Ayam Broiler ABSTRAK: Masyarakat pada umumnya mengetahui bahwa fungsi probiotik hanya bisa menggantikan peran antibiotik di ayam broiler, namun tidak mengetahui manfaat lain dari probiotik.
