Abstract

Background : Diabetes mellitus is a progressive disease characterized by the body's inability to metabolize carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Diabetes can be prevented by doing primary prevention (education) which can be given to people who have not suffered but have risk factors for diabetes mellitus prevention can start from yourself or self-awareness. Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between community knowledge and self awareness of the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the working area of banjar agung village, serang city. Method : This research method uses a correlational description research design and uses a cross sectional research approach. By using a knowledge and self awareness questionnaire. The population in this study were people who had a risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus with purposive sampling technique so that the sample in this study amounted to 96 respondents. Data collection using questionnaire sheets distributed directly. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square statistical test. Results : The results obtained by the study showed that there was a significant relationship between community knowledge and self awareness of the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (p value 0.001) also obtained OR value = 14.1. Suggestions for health workers can provide more education to people who have a risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus about what type 2 diabetes mellitus is and how to prevent it.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder that occurs chronically or chronically because the body does not have enough insulin due to impaired insulin secretion, insulin hormones that do not work properly or both and if not compliant in treatment, acute complications can occur. Objective: to determine the relationship between family support and adherence to insulin use in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Matraman District Health Center, East Jakarta in 2023. Methods: The type of research used in this study is descriptive correlation using a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients who used insulin, namely 30 people and the sample used total sampling. Family support questionnaire using HDFSS and compliance using MMAS. Results Univariate analysis showed 73.3% of respondents had good family support and 26.7% of respondents had less family support. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test is that there is a relationship between family support and stress levels with a p-value (0.022). Conclusion there is a relationship between family support and compliance with insulin use in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Matraman District Health Center, East Jakarta in 2023.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is one of the endocrine system disorders that frequently occurs in society, with an annual increase of 56% in sufferers due to the instability of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, leading to elevated blood glucose levels. This occurrence is influenced by the community's level of knowledge, which is lacking in understanding diabetes mellitus prevention methods. Objective : The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and the prevention of blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The sample used in this study consists of 55 respondents. This method utilizes a Cross-Sectional approach. Bivariate data analysis resulted in findings using the Chi-square test. Regarding the independent and dependent variables, a P-Value of 0.016 (<0.05) was obtained. Result of the OR = 0.241. Suggestions for future researchers can include prevention measures that may influence the increase in blood glucose levels. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between knowledge and the prevention Hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients
