Abstract

This study is motivated by the low early reading skills of first-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 18 Mendobarat, particularly in recognizing letters, forming syllables, and constructing words. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the Word Construction Game Technique on early reading skills in the Indonesian Language subject among first-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 18 Mendobarat. The research method used is an experimental "Quasi-Experiment" (Nonequivalent Control Group Design). The sample in this study was selected using purposive sampling. The sample consists of first-grade students from SD Negeri 18 Mendobarat, with Class I A, totaling 28 students, serving as the control group, and Class I B, totaling 28 students, serving as the experimental group. Data analysis techniques used in this study include normality testing, homogeneity testing, and hypothesis testing using paired t-test. The pretest results showed that there was no significant difference between the control and experimental groups (tcount = 1.876; ttable = 2.003; H0 was accepted and Ha was rejected). However, the posttest results showed that there were significant differences after treatment (tcount = 2.875; ttable = 2.003; H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted). In conclusion, the word composing game technique has a positive effect on students' initial reading abilities

Abstract

This study investigates the practicality of an inquiry-based laboratory module on atomic structure and nanomaterials to enhance vocational high school students’ relational understanding, as outlined in the SOLO Taxonomy. The method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which involves needs analysis, design, development, limited trials, and module evaluation by students and teachers of Agrobusiness and Horticulture at SMK Negeri 2 Banjit. Practicality data were obtained through a Likert-scale questionnaire assessing ease of use, student engagement, alignment with the SOLO Taxonomy, as well as the evaluation and impact of learning. The practicality test results show that all aspects of the module were rated as very practical, with average scores of 98.0% from teachers and 89.13% from students, indicating the module’s strong feasibility for classroom implementation in vocational chemistry learning. The integration of inquiry-based learning with the SOLO Taxonomy demonstrates meaningful pedagogical value in supporting students’ progression toward relational-level conceptual understanding and strengthening active engagement with abstract chemical concepts such as nanomaterials. Scientifically, this research contributes an empirically validated instructional model that bridges theory and laboratory practice, offering a scalable approach to enhancing higher-order thinking skills and practical competence in vocational science education. The findings underscore the importance of structured inquiry modules as a strategic approach to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of chemistry learning, thereby preparing students for industrial and professional demands.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of students' understanding of short story material. Because the learning process still uses the lecture method when delivering learning materials, varied and innovative learning models and media have not been applied. The goal of this study was to find out how the STAD learning model, which includes spinning wheel media, helped students in class V SDN 3 Riau Silipunderstand what they were learning about short stories. The research method used is the pre-experimental design method with one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample collection technique is saturated sampling and the data collection technique is a test. The data analysis technique uses a normality test in the form of a Saphiro Wilk test and a hypothesis test using a paired sample T-test. Based on the results of the study, the normality test on the pretest with sig. of 0.527> 0.05 and posttest of 0.385> 0.05, so the data is normally distributed. The results of the hypothesis test using the paired sample T-Test with a sig value of 0.000 <0.05. This shows that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It can be concluded that the STAD learning model assisted by spinning wheel media has an effect on students' understanding of short story material in grade V of SDN 3 Riau Silip.
