Abstract

This work presents the implementation of back-projection algorithm for Synthetic-Aperture Radar (SAR) signals on a low-cost, small, lightweight, and low-power consumption platform: Raspberry Pi. The algorithm is implemented with GNU Octave open-source software and the performance was tested on Raspberry Pi 3B and 4 hardware. For performance comparison, a single-threaded baseline implementation of back-projection is created and then modified to run on several threads on an available multicore processor. Executing a single-threaded code Raspberry PI is too slow for real-time imaging. However, the parallelized version shows computation improvement over the baseline version. We include a discussion of parallel implementation on a single Pi using Octave’s parallel package. This study contributes to the understanding of implementing SAR image processing on affordable single-board platforms with constrained computing resources.

Abstract

Research on subsurface alteration due to hydrothermal fluid influence was conducted in the hydrothermal manifestation area of Mesjid Raya District, Aceh Besar, Aceh. Data was acquired using the electrical resistivity method with a Wenner–Schlumberger configuration along four survey lines. Survey Lines 1 and 2, each 106.5 m long with 1.5 m electrode spacing, represent Zone 1, which is located directly at the hot spring source. Survey Lines 3 and 4, each 210 m long with 3 m electrode spacing, represent Zone 2, located 3.5 km from Zone 1 and 2 unaffected by hot fluid flow. This study aimed to identify the geothermal influence on subsurface characteristics. The results revealed clear differences in the resistivity profiles between Zones 1 and 2, with resistivity variations ranging from 0–600 Ωm and 0–5000 Ω·m, respectively. Interpretation indicates that Zone 1 consists of hydrothermally altered volcanic rocks, while Zone 2 comprises alluvium affected by weathering in the unsaturated (vadose) zone under meteoric water influence. These subsurface alterations provide essential evidence of geothermal impacts on rock characteristics. The findings also support the interpretation that the Ie Seu’um geothermal system is strongly concentrated in Zone 1, whereas surrounding areas show weaker manifestations that do not support the development of an active geothermal system.

Abstract

Trenggalek Regency and especially Munjungan Sub-district have experienced a decrease in conflicts between martial arts schools, but several conflicts still occur that originate from the motive of disputes between martial arts schools. These conflicts often involve children and teenagers who are supposed to be the productive next generation. At the same time, administrators of martial arts colleges who have previously been accustomed to dealing with or carrying out assistance practices when their members are in conflict, have actually also performed tasks that are close to the duties and functions of a paralegal. Therefore, it is important to carry out community service activities that are empowering in this area. The purpose of this community service activity is the formation of paralegals in the community or martial arts college organisation to control child abuse and legal advocacy to the community. The method used is the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method. The results of this activity reported that: as an initial condition, the paralegal formation participants have great potential but still have limitations in terms of understanding the law, conflict mediation and child protection. Using an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach involving asset identification, participatory planning, and intensive training throughout the programme, paralegals were involved in community education activities, such as anti-violence in the internal community. This process was inclusive. The training was designed to not only increase individual capacity but also build synergy between groups in peacefully handling conflicts. The conclusion of this activity provided significant development in paralegal capacity and positive impact in the community. Paralegals who were trained have followed up and started to intensify in advocacy and mentoring.

Abstract

This study investigates how optimizing Moodle e-learning features can enhance student achievement in Business Economics courses. Grounded in constructivist learning theories and empirical research on Learning Management Systems, the investigation addresses the growing need for effective, technology-driven instructional strategies. A quasi-experimental research design was employed across one academic semester, involving undergraduate students enrolled in a Business Economics course at a public university. Participants were divided into two groups: one that accessed a standard Moodle environment and another that engaged with enhanced Moodle features, including adaptive release of content, personalized feedback tools, and gamified assessments. Data were collected through pre- and post-course tests, platform usage logs, and student perception surveys. Statistical analyses, including t-tests and multiple regression, indicated that students using the optimized Moodle platform demonstrated significantly higher achievement scores and engagement levels than those in the control group. Correlation results further revealed that interactive quizzes and targeted feedback strongly influenced student performance. Qualitative feedback underscored the benefits of gamified elements and user-friendly navigation in fostering deeper learning and motivation. These findings reinforce the vital role of thoughtfully tailored LMS interventions in improving learning outcomes, particularly within complex disciplines like Business Economics. The study concludes by discussing implications for educators, administrators, and platform developers seeking to maximize the pedagogical potential of e-learning systems. Future research should explore longitudinal effects, larger sample sizes, and cross-institutional validations to further refine and generalize these insights

Abstract

The Indo-Australian Oceanic Plate region is an active and complex subduction zone. Tectonic activity in this area generates various types of faults, including thrust, strike-slip, and normal faults, reflecting the dynamic deformation of the lithosphere. This study aims to refine earthquake source parameters using waveform inversion based on the Bayesian Bootstrap approach. Seven earthquake events with magnitudes greater than 5, occurring between 2010 and 2025, were analyzed to obtain more accurate parameters, including location, depth, origin time, duration, magnitude, and fault plane orientation (strike, dip, and slip). Waveform data were retrieved from the USGS catalog and processed using the Grond and Pyrocko software. The inversion results indicate significant shifts in initial parameters, with misfit values below 0.5, demonstrating a high level of agreement between synthetic and observed waveforms. The tectonic interpretation of the inversion outcomes reveals a relationship between hypocenter depth, fault type, and subduction zone geometry. This research is expected to contribute to a better understanding of earthquake source mechanisms and serve as a scientific reference for disaster mitigation efforts in the Indo-Australian Plate region.
