Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is one of the indicators of the success of feeding babies aged 0-6 months which is the basis for providing nutrition in the first 1000 years of life. Most provinces still have a percentage of exclusive breastfeeding below the national average, including North Sumatra at 57,83% (BPS, 2021). The conditionof traditional markets in Indonesia, especially in North Sumatra, is very risky for the health of babies during the breastfeeding process (BPS, 2020).To overcome the obstacles and problems during breastfeeding that have been reported, it can be strengthened by carrying out empowerment which aims to obtain sufficient knowledge and skills for traders who breastfeed, comprehensive support such as providing breastfeeding facilitation, as well as guarantees regarding the right quality and quantity of breast milk.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is an important indicator to assess maternal health efforts and societal development. Indonesia ranks third in MMR within ASEAN countries. Antenatal care ensures maternal health and infant safety through prevention efforts such as education and interventions to address dangerous symptoms during pregnancy. Factors influencing antenatal care utilization include maternal age, education level, pregnancy planning, parity, birth spacing, knowledge, attitude, economic factors, availability, distance, health history, perception of health, and access to obstetric services. Improving accessibility, economic conditions, and media exposure can boost antenatal care utilization rates globally.

Abstract

Adolescent girls have the potential to experience breast abnormalities because hormonal activity, especially the hormone estrogen, is currently unstable. Adolescent girls who get their first menstruation earlier have exposure to the hormone estrogen for longer in their lives so the potential for breast abnormalities is quite large. Self-Examination of the Breasts (BSE) is a technique for recognizing the normal condition of the breasts and determining whether there are lumps that can trigger tumors or breast cancer independently. To determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes about breast cancer with breast self-examination (BSE) among adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Deli Tua, Deli Serdang Regency in 2024. The type of research used is the type of design used is a cross-sectional approach, namely research that emphasizes the time of measurement. or analyze data in one go. The population of respondents will be used as a sample, namely total sampling, where all teenagers in SMA Negeri 1 class X and XI Deli Tua Deli Serdang Regency are 30 people. The results of this research are knowledge with a p-value of 0.003, which means there is a relationship between knowledge and breast self-examination (BSE) and attitude p-value 0.003, which means there is a relationship between knowledge and breast self-examination (BSE). From the results of this research, it is hoped that breast self-examination (BSE) can be used as an effort to detect breast cancer early.

Abstract

The coverage of Antenatal Care (ANC) visits in Indonesia has not yet reached the national target of 95%. Low awareness among pregnant women regarding the importance of ANC remains a challenge, influenced by factors such as education level, knowledge, family support, and limited access to health information. To address this issue, appropriate and effective educational approaches are needed to increase pregnant women's understanding and adherence to routine ANC visits. One effective educational tool is the flip chart, a visual aid composed of sequential pages containing concise and structured health information, supported by illustrations and diagrams. Flip charts promote two-way communication between healthcare providers and clients, delivering information in a gradual and visually engaging manner. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to raise pregnant women’s awareness and understanding of ANC through flip chart-based education. The flip chart serves not only as an information medium but also as an interactive tool to support informed health decisions. It is expected that this intervention will enhance knowledge and positively influence pregnant women’s behavior in complying with ANC schedules, ultimately contributing to better maternal and fetal health outcomes.

Abstract

Menopause is a natural phase experienced by women, where in this phase women no longer experience menstruation. This is caused by the hormones estrogen and progesterone in a woman's body decreasing so that the ovaries stop releasing eggs. Many women are worried and afraid of facing menopause because they have entered old age and cannot give birth to more children. This change in hormonal balance can cause various psychological symptoms characterized by irritability, depression, anxiety, erratic mood, decreased ability to think and memory and causes blood pressure to increase. Quercetin and flavonoids found in avocado leaves have blood pressure-lowering properties. In 2024, the study was done at the Deli Tua Health Centre in the Deli Tua Subdistrict of the Deli Serdang Regency. The goal was to find out if giving menopausal women with high blood pressure boiling avocado leaf water could lower their blood pressure. One group took a pre- and post-test as part of this type of study, which was kind of like an experiment. The chi-square test for bivariate analysis showed that the p-value was 0.000, which is less than 0.05. This means that boiling avocado leaf water does have a significant effect on lowering blood pressure.

Abstract

Maternal mortality of 10% occurs during the postpartum period and is caused by postpartum infection due to lack of wound care, 42% due to bleeding, 13% due to eclampsia and 11% postpartum complications. Perineal wounds are one of the predisposing factors for postpartum infection. Rapid healing of perineal stitches during the postpartum period is expected to prevent postpartum mothers from the dangers of infection and physiological complaints. Honey is a liquid with a distinctive sweet taste produced by honey bees that suck nectar found in flowers or in leaf axils. Honey is believed to be an alternative medicine, because it has many benefits, namely easy to digest, is a source of vitamins and minerals, especially containing vitamin C, Iron and Calcium, contains high antioxidants, essential and nonessential amino acids, and has antibiotic substances. Honey in the wound healing process is more towards anti-inflammatory, antioxidant functions, stimulates the cleaning of dead tissue. Determination of the form of honey administration for wound care must be chosen appropriately so that the potential of honey can be utilized optimally. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of honey to accelerate the healing of perineal wounds in postpartum mothers. This study was conducted using a descriptive analytical method with a quasi-experiment. Respondents consisted of 20 physiological postpartum mothers. Data were obtained through interviews and observations. The results showed that perineal wound care using honey resulted in 12 respondents (60%) experiencing slow wound healing and 8 respondents (40%) experiencing fast wound healing. Honey can be recommended for healing perineal wounds in postpartum mothers because it has been proven effective in accelerating wound healing.

Abstract

Pregnancy-related anemia represents a significant contributor to maternal mortality in Indonesia.Haemoglobin is pregnant women affects fetal growth and development. Pregnant women need higher nutrition than women who are not pregnant because malnutrition during pregnancy can cause iron deficiency anemia, low birth weight babies and birth defects. Iron is very important this increase is attributed to the maternal blood volume expanding by 25% during gestation. Purple sweet potato leaves in every 100 gram’s , carotene 2700 μg, calcium 75- 183 mg, iron 1,8 – 3,9 mg, riboflavin 0,35 mg, and ascrorbic acid 32 – 136 mg ( Motsa,2015). Sweet potato leaves contain 47 kilocalories of energy, 2,8 gram’s protein, 10,4 gram’s carbohydrates, 0,4 gram fat, 79 miligrams calcium, 66 miligrams phosphorus and 10 miligram of iron. In addition, sweet potato leaves also contain 6016 IU of vitamin A, 0,12 miligram’s of vitamin B1 and 22 miligram’s of vitamin C. The presence of vitamin C enhances the absorption of non-heme iron by a factor of four because vitamin C plays a role in transferring iron from ransferin in plasma to fereitin in the liver, the process of forming haemoglobin and helping patossium absorption by keeping potassium in solution form. A Static Group Comparison methodology, employing a two-group pre-test and post-test framework, was utilized in this investigation. The study encompassed a research population of 47 individuals, with a sample size of 32 participants. Findings from this research reveal that the mean score prior to the administration of sweet potato leaves was 8.88 (standard deviation = 1.360), and the mean score subsequent to the administration of sweet potato leaves was 10.19 (standard deviation = 1.223), with a significance value of less than 0.05. In conclusion, this study demonstrates the impact of sweet potato leaves (Ipomoea Batatas) on the hemoglobin levels of pregnant women at the Cindy clinic in 2025.
