Abstract

Traditional art reflects the identity of a region, characterized by the characteristics and distinctive style of the region's cultural wealth. The art of banjet mask is a Sundanese ethnic cultural heritage located in Karawang Regency. This study aims to explore the ethnopedagogical value and contribution of banjet mask art in the preservation of regional culture in Karawang Regency. The method used in this research is qualitative research through an ethnographic approach. The research results are presented as follows: first, the offering ritual contains religious values, because it contains the meaning of asking for the smooth running of a performance and respect for the ancestors; second, the gamelan musical instrument contains aspects of collaborative learning, cooperation between musicians (nayaga) in the banjet mask performance and maintenance of cultural heritage; third, the story play set against the background of the social conditions of society refers to human moral values; fourth, the costumes used by topeng banjet dancers contain aesthetic values and modesty and can be a medium for conveying traditional cultural values to the younger generation or to the audience in performances; fifth, the art of topeng banjet actively contributes to the preservation of regional culture in Karawang Regency by participating in activities related to arts and culture and topeng banjet artists share knowledge with children in the surrounding environment.

Abstract

The research is motivated by the phenomenon of code mixing in the iconic interview compilation, the case of "Mayat dalam Gentong", which went viral again on the for your page of the TikTok account @c45sat on August 24, 2024, which was watched 8.1 million times. This article will describe the form, shape and factors that influence the process of code mixing in the interview compilation. The research uses a descriptive method, with documentation techniques and interactive analysis. The results of this study found that the form of code mixing into, includes insertions dominated by 21 Sundanese words, and 3 Sundanese phrases were found to be inserted. Then, the form of code mixing, there are 20 sentences containing elements of code mixing with a total of 24 linguistic elements consisting of Sundanese words and phrases inserted into Indonesian. Finally, Sundanese as the mother tongue is an influential factor.Keywords: code mixing, iconic; interview AbstrakPenelitian dilatarbelakangi fenomena campur kode dalam kompilasi wawancara ikonik, kasus “Mayat dalam Gentong”, yang kembali viral di laman for your page akun tiktok @c45sat 24 Agustus 2024 yang  ditonton sebanyak 8,1 juta kali. Artikel ini akan mendeskripsikan bentuk, wujud dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi proses terjadinya campur kode dalam kompilasi wawancara tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif, dengan teknik dokumentasi dan analisis interaktif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menemukan bahwa bentuk campur kode ke dalam, meliputi penyisipan yang didominasi dengan 21 kata bahasa Sunda, serta ditemukan 3 frasa bahasa Sunda yang disisipkan. Kemudian, wujud campur kode, terdapat 20 kalimat yang mengandung unsur campur kode dengan total 24 unsur kebahasaan yang terdiri dari kata dan frasa bahasa Sunda yang disisipkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Terakhir bahasa Sunda sebagai bahasa ibu merupakan faktor yang berpengaruh.Katakunci: campur kode, ikonik; wawancara

Abstract

Gantangan is a tradition that exists in celebration activities in Subang Regency. This tradition has grown and developed in the local community. In addition, this tradition teaches people to interact socially which has a deep meaning. This study aims to determine the practice, role and cultural values of the gantangan tradition in the Subang Regency community. The method used is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected by direct observation in the field, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The results of this study are as follows: (1) the gantangan tradition originated from the activities of men when spreading invitations to celebrations using a pack of cigarettes and invited guests donated using a sum of money, then the activity changed to an activity carried out by women using soap as an invitation tool and rice as a means of donation; (2) the gantangan tradition indirectly supports the survival of the community's economy and cultural arts in Subang Regency; (3) the gantangan tradition was born from the community's concern for individuals who will hold a celebration event, besides that the activity also contains cultural values such as the nature of life, the nature of human work, the nature of space and time, the nature with nature, and the nature of fellow humans which can be used as guidance by the community in improving the quality of life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the readability levels of Sundanese language textbooks for eighth-grade junior high school students using Fry’s Readability Graph. The research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through document analysis by examining the discourses contained in the textbooks. The objects of this study were the Rancagé Diajar Basa Sunda Grade VIII textbook published by Pustaka Jaya and the Wiwaha Basa Grade VIII textbook published by Geger Sunten. Data analysis was conducted using the Fry Graph formula by calculating the average number of sentences and syllables per 100 words, which were then plotted on the Fry Graph to estimate the readability levels of the texts. The results indicate that the Rancagé Diajar Basa Sunda textbook falls within the readability range of grades 5–7, whereas the Wiwaha Basa textbook falls within the range of grades 6–8, making it more appropriate for the expected reading ability of eighth-grade students. These findings provide valuable insights for teachers and textbook authors to pay greater attention to linguistic features and text structure in the development of instructional materials. Consequently, this study contributes to improving the quality of Sundanese language textbooks and supports more effective learning that is aligned with students’ reading abilities.

Abstract

Textbooks serve as a mandatory guide in the teaching and learning process in schools, one example is the Panggelar Basa Sunda textbook for Senior High School class XII. The purpose of this study is to analyze the quality of textbook content. The method used uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The source of data in this study is the Panggelar Basa Sunda textbook for Grade XII High School. Data was obtained through documentation techniques. The results of this study explain that the Panggelar Basa Sunda textbook for Senior High School Class XII has met the content quality indicators in accordance with the 2022 Education Standards, Curriculum, and Assessment Agency [Badan Standar, Kurikulum, dan Asesmen Pendidikan]. These indicators include scientific accuracy, conformity with local content set by the governor, alignment with the development of science and technology, relevance to the context and environment, and coherence among the content sections of the book. In addition, it is also collaborated with the Jabar Masagi program as an implementation of the local content of the Merdeka Curriculum. Therefore, the textbooks are in line with the quality of content required by 21st century education. The implications of this research provide benefits for students and teachers in using textbooks in schools and a form of synergy between the central and local governments.
