Abstract

The need for low carbon steel plate sheets with relatively thin thickness measurements in Indonesia is currently quite high, especially in supporting the automotive industry, the electronics industry, the food industry, beverages, and household appliances. To fulfill this, raw materials for low carbon steel plate sheets that have high formability and are not easily cracked in critical areas of the desired model are required. For this reason, research on the effect of temperature variations in heat treatment on hardness, microstructure and spring back of V-bending results on steel plates with a plate thickness of 0.8 mm. The research method used was a laboratory experimental method. The heat treatment is carried out with temperature variations of 710, 820 and 9300C with a holding time of 60 minutes. Tests carried out on specimens are hardness testing, microstructure testing, and spring back V-bending results on steel plates. The results of this study indicate a decrease in the spring back angle where the smallest spring back angle in the bending process is on the 9300C plate which is 1,040. The value of the hardness results from V-bending has increased significantly. The increase in the value of hardness because the plate has an atom shift or dislocation by shear stress (slip) due to plastic deformation on the plate. The highest hardness value is on the 7100C plate which is 154.67 HV or has an increase of 14,291% of the pre-bending plate. The lowest hardness value is on the 9300C plate which is 125.33 HV, its hardness increases 4.4% against the pre-bending plate. Heat treatment also causes changes in the microstructure of the plates from the process of regulation and reshaping of crystals to the growth of new grains which have implications for changes in mechanical properties and formability of the workpiece.

Abstract

Metal connection due to heat with or without the influence of pressure or metallurgical bonds caused by attractive forces between atoms. DIN (Deutsche Industrie Normen) state that metallurgical bonding of metal or guide metal joints in a melted or liquid state. This study aims to determine the effect of limestone powder and gypsum as an insulating medium in SMAW (Shielded metal arc welding) welding. This study using experimental methods with SMAW welding. Welding metal cooled with limestone media has a harder hardness than gypsum and air media, which is limestone has a thermal conductivity value of 3.897 W / mºC. In comparison, gypsum has a thermal conductivity value of 1.39 W/mºC, and air has a thermal conductivity value of 0.023 J/msºC, so limestone is a better insulator than gypsum and air. The greater the conductivity value of the object, the better the thermal conductivity of the metal and the more complicated the weld metal and the lower the thermal conductivity value, the softer the metal hardness, limestone has a thermal conductivity value of 3.897 W / mºC while gypsum has a thermal conductivity value of 1, 39 W / mºC and air have a thermal conductivity value of 0.023 J / msºC, proving that the lower the conductivity value, the hardness of the weld metal is getting softer, but in the HAZ section it proves that the lower the conductivity value, the more complex the hardness in the HAZ section.

Abstract

Welding is an inseparable part of the growth of industrial improvements because it plays a leading role in the engineering and repair of metal production.This study aims to determine the effect of cooling media on the hardness of weld metal and HAZ (heat Affected Zone) which tested hardness using the Rockwell method. This research was conducted on ST 37 low carbon steel material which was welded using 2.6 mm diameter E6013 electrode with blunt connection, then cooled using white cement powder.Welding metal cooled with white cement powder media has a harder hardness, because white cement contains C2S which is difficult to hydrate and does not have heat properties. After testing at several points, the result is an average value of raw material specimens is 48, 3 HRB, welding without isolator media = 42.96 HRB and HAZ = 46.4 HRB. Specimens using white cement powder = 47.65 HRB and HAZ = 48.2 HRB. Seen from this phenomenon and white cement has a hardness value lower than air, where the HAZ at the air value hardness was 46.4 HRB and the value of the white cement was higher at 48.2 HRB.

Abstract

The Material Test Process of Gear Sprocket includes the process of cutting the material used as the Material Test sample which is mixed or not mixed. In the sample that is mixed, namely the base metal that has been cut with a value ratio of 10:2 Ounce of Material Gear Sprocket 10 and Tin Material 2 Ounces, fusion will be carried out for the process of blending/unifying the two types of material as sample material. Test the material with the mixing, while the Gear Sprocket material sample that was not mixed was also taken a load value of 10 Ounces, for the test sample where the mixing was not carried out. The test results data from the Gear Sprocket material sample with Tin mixing with four tests from several different surface parts obtained the value 51.5, 55, 50, 53 kgf. While the sample of the Gear Sprocket material without mixing the tin, the results obtained are the values ​​of 50, 51, 50, 50 kgf. In combining the Tin Material with the base metal Gear Sprocket with the ratio of 2 Ounce Tin Material and 10 Ounce Gear Sprocket Material, the hardness results are unstable, so the value obtained from the material being treated is obtained a value that is less likely, while the material test value of the Material Gear Sprockets that are not combined have good results from each surface even though the hardness value is slightly smaller than the result of the material being treated.

Abstract

Human Resources (HR) are workers, employees, or laborers working at a company. HR is one of the vital aspects of a company to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of a company. PT. Saptaindra Sejati (PT. SIS) is a coal mining company located in Kalimantan. Operators are parts of company human resources who have important roles in the production. Fatigue can cause excessive mental workload and decline productivity. This study focuses on the mental workload of dump truck operators. It aims to identify the mental workload level of dump truck operators using the NASA-TLX method. The result indicated that the mental workload level indicator is in the high category. The highest indicator is Frustration Level (FR) with a value of 24%, followed by Mental Demand (MD) and Effort (EF) (17%), Own Performance (OP) (16%), and Physical Demand (PD) and Temporal Demand (PD) (13%).

Abstract

Era yang serba modern saat ini, sangat banyak kita jumpai peralatan yang menggunakan logam sebagai bahan utama pembuatannya. Penggunaan logam yang memiliki kekerasan baik, sangat diperlukan terutama pada bagian mesin yang harus selalu bersinggungan dengan bagian mesin lainnya. Salah satu cara untuk menaikan kekekerasan logam adalah dengan melakukan penambahan karbon pada logam tersebut. Proses penambahan karbon adalah dengan cara karburasi padat. Penggunaan katalis kalsium karbonat juga dapat digunakan untuk mempercepat terjadinya reaksi pada karburasi padat tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh proses karburasi pada baja ST 37 baik itu dengan menggunakan katalis maupun tanpa katalis terhadap uji kekerasan. Dari hasil pengamatan dan pengumpulan data yang telah dilakukan maka didapatlah nilai kekerasan rata - rata raw material adalah sebesar 47,9 HRB. Untuk baja ST 37 yang dilakukan proses heat treatment dengan temperature 900ºC dilakukan proses normalizing dan proses quenching masing – masing memiliki nilai kekerasan rata – rata sebesar 47,5 HRB dan 49,05 HRB. Serta baja ST 37 yang dilakukan proses karburasi padat dengan menggunakan katalis dan tanpa katalis masing – masing memiliki angka kekerasan sebesar 48,6 HRB dan 48,2 HRB. Dari hasil tersebut diatas maka diketahui bahwasannya lama waktu pendinginan berpengaruh terhadap kekerasan baja ST 37. Proses karburasi dapat meningkatkan kekerasan dikarenakan terjadinya penambahan karbon pada baja. Katalis berperan dalam peningkatan kekerasan baja, hal ini karena katalis dapat mempercepat laju reaksi pada karburasi

Abstract

Electrical sistem Auxiliary Power Unit pada pesawat Boing 737-500 sering mengalami kegagalan operasional karena adanya kerusakan pada komponen di dalam sistem tersebut, kejadian ini menimbulkan kerugian operasional yang cukup besar sehingga diperlukan sebuah metode perawatan yang tepat untuk menghilangkan faktor – faktor penyebab kegagalan pada Electrical sistem Auxiliary Power Unit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merencanakan aktivitas preventive maintenance pada Electrical sistem Auxiliary Power Unit sehingga kerusakan part yang menyebabkan terjadinya kegagalan dapat ditanggulangi dengan baik. Metode reliability dihitung menggunakan distribusi Weibull sehingga didapatkan batas kritis waktu operasional pada Electrical sistem Auxiliary Power Unit. Dari hasil perhitungan didapatkan Batas kritis operasional Electrical sistem Auxiliary Power Unit adalah 271 flight cycle dengan kerusakan utama adalah pada komponen start Relay, dengan kegiatan maintenance berupa aktivitas Inspection, repair, testing dan cleaning.

Abstract

Oil palm nut plantation and factory shows fluctuated development. One of the indicators is that the CPO (Cruid Palm Oil) cost is getting better. The rapid progress of science and technology currently influences the production process in factory so it becomes more effective and efficient. Specifically, Ripple Mill Type KCM 6T is a kind of high technology machine that is operated to crack palm fruit and separate the kernel from its shell. To keep the machine working in a good condition, it is a must to pay attention on the method to maintain it. Particular preventative maintenance method is needed to do to avoid some failures of the machine or engine so it can be used for longer time. Regular field survey needs to be done to collect concrete information about the latest condition of engine/ machine and the result of survey must be written down into control card and maintenance card. These cards can be reminder for the user to monitor the engine/ machine condition and as an effort to keep the cracker works optimally.

Abstract

Indonesia had once become the fuel exporter, it now becomes the fuel importer. To overcome this crisis, then the best option is to increase the utilization of the alternative energy, like what has been conducted in other countries; both developed and developing countries. Renewable energy is a non-fossil energy derived from nature which is designed and cared in such way, it will not be discharged because the amount is unlimited, for example: solar panels, biomass, bioethanol, water energy, heat energy, nuclear energy, tidal energy, wave energy and others. The aim of this research are: 1) to determine the stages in manufacturing process of mini hydro from the early machining process until the final process of quality control, 2) to determine the calculation of the time and costs in the manufacturing process of mini hydro in details. From the analysis of the cost and the manufacturing process of mini hydro, where the generator produces electric energy maximum of 1 KW, driven by a waterwheel that uses frame brackets 50 x 50 x 5 mm, the total cost of making the mini hydro is IDR 6.423.900, it is obtained from the sum of the costs which have been calculated, such as manufacturing cost IDR 5.444.000, design cost IDR 544.400 and unexpected cost IDR 435.500. The required total time in the manufacturing process of mini hydro is 14 hours. The use of micro-hydro energy can be used as an alternative renewable energy to overcome the problems of large power consumption and the provision of electrical energy that is not evenly distributed, especially in rural areas. The use of this micro-hydro is in accordance with the environmental conditions in Indonesia which has a lot of hills and rivers.

Abstract

Modern society is very attached to technological advances, With community technology can easily meet energy needs, one example is the electrical energy processing of energy conversion machines using turbine energy.The purpose of this manufacture is to find a solution to meet the need for electrical energy, as well as solving problems encountered in areas where there is no stream or waterfall.. as for the methodology in making this includes time and place, tools making, Tools and Materials and Methods of execution of Flow diagrams.The calculation result for effective head = 0.3 m, with the water discharge used to move the runner Q = 0.00033836 m3/s, obtained power generated for 0,87 Watt. With the data planned, the main dimension of Pelton type turbine is the outer diameter of the runner Do = 435.28 mm, diameter of D = 400 mm, the number of bowl z = 59 pieces with 1 nozzle
