Abstract

Local farmers in Sungai Awan Kanan Village are one of the supporting sources of food for consumers around Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan. With traditional skills they are able to produce agricultural products that can compete with modern agriculture. They always produce fresh vegetables every day for family and community needs. Behind it all, there are several weaknesses that they currently feel, including; cheap prices at the collector level (prices become a game for certain parties), fresh vegetables cannot last long due to limited supporting facilities. Meanwhile, on the other hand, there are opportunities that actually open the chain of their problems, such as; the emergence of supermarkets and modern markets that require supplies. The aim of implementing this community service is to encourage the strength of local communities in developing agricultural products, especially vegetables, through packaging methods. The community is facilitated by providing modern packaging for the agricultural products they get. With this community service program in the form of training regarding the development of agricultural products through packaging, it is hoped that it can increase public knowledge about how to increase income through packaging methods applied to agricultural products. After the training, almost all training participants realized that the packaging methods applied to agricultural products could have a good effect on the sales of their agricultural products.

Abstract

An attempt has been made to extend the service life of mahogany wood (Swietenia mahogany) by preserving it. The purpose of this study was to determine the mechanical properties of mahogany wood after cold soaking with preservatives of cocoa pods extract (Theobroma cacao). This research uses an experimental method of cold soaking which is carried out in the Material Testing Laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Padang State Polytechnic. The preservation process used cacao pod extract preservative solution at concentrations of 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12%, and 15%. The observed responses were the preservative retention values and mechanical properties (compressive strength parallel to the fiber direction, flexural strength, and surface hardness) of the wood. The preservation method applied was cold soaking for 120 hours. The increase in retention value was directly proportional to the increased concentration of extract added. The improved properties of wood (compressive strength in the grain direction and flexural strength) also increased with increasing extract concentration. The results obtained showed that the highest value was obtained at a 15% concentration of the added extract with a retention of 7.6078 kg/cm2, a compressive strength parallel to the fiber of 227.92 kg/m2, and a flexural strength of 387.82 kg/m2. This data shows that cocoa pods extract has the potential to be used as an environmentally friendly wood preservative.

Abstract

The use of composites as materials has developed rapidly due to the many advantages they offer compared to alternative engineering materials. In this study, the researchers used Glass Laminated Aluminium Reinforced Epoxy (GLARE) to analyze the results of bending tests on hybrid laminate composites reinforced with fiberglass and aluminum plates. The method used was vacuum bagging, and the sample was reinforced with epoxy resin combined with carbon nanotube (CNT) nanoparticles and aluminum (AL) powder. This study applied variations in resin as adhesive, surface treatments, and the addition of CNT and AL nanopowders to determine their effects on the bending strength of the composite. The results showed that specimens with surface treatment and nanoparticle additions had higher bending strength compared to those without nanoparticles or surface treatment. The highest bending stress was found in the CNT variation specimens, with an average value of 181.4158 MPa. The lowest average bending stress was observed in the plain specimens without nanoparticles and surface treatment, with a value of 151.766 MPa. Macro photo analysis after the bending test showed adhesive failure in the plain variation (no resin adhered to the aluminum surface), and cohesive failure in the CNT variation (resin adhered to the treated aluminum surface). These findings indicate that the addition of nanoparticles improves bending strength. This research plays an important role in understanding the influence of nano adhesives and nanoparticles on the bending strength of hybrid laminate composites.

Abstract

An evaluation of unconfined groundwater at the Air Dingin Landfill (TPA) in Padang City, West Sumatra, has been conducted to assess the impact of leachate on the water quality utilized by the surrounding community. Groundwater samples were collected from ten strategically selected points around the landfill, with support from JPS. The leachate characteristics analyzed included pH, temperature, Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), and the concentrations of heavy metals such as Pb, Cu, Mn, As, Cd, Cr, and Fe. A thermometer and a pH meter were employed to measure temperature and pH levels, respectively. The concentrations of heavy metals were determined using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), while BOD, COD, TDS, and TSS values were assessed through the gravimetry method.The test results for various parameters, including odor, taste, temperature, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and levels of heavy metals (Pb, Cu, Mn, As, Cd, Cr, and Fe), generally remain below the quality standards outlined in Indonesian Minister of Health Regulation No. 416 of 1990 and Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001. However, the pH levels of the unconfined groundwater measured between 3.04 and 6.05, which do not meet the Government's requirements for all test wells. Additionally, the leachate does not appear to impact the quality of the unconfined groundwater surrounding the Air Dingin Landfill. Overall, the groundwater quality in this area generally complies with the standards set forth in Minister of Health Regulation No. 416 of 1990 and Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001..

Abstract

Pengelasan merupakan penyambungan dua logam atau lebih yang menggunakan energi panas. Banyaknya konsumen yang memerlukan pengelasan plat dengan ketebalan di bawah 1 mm. Pengelasan spot welding merupakan cara pengelasan yang menggunakan resistansi listrik dimana dua permukaan plat yang akan disambung ditekan satu sama lain oleh dua buah elektroda, pada saat yang sama arus listrik yang besar dialirkan melalui kedua elektroda melewati dua buah plat yang dijepit elektroda sehingga permukaan diantara kedua plat menjadi panas dan mencair karena adanya resistansi listrik.Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian tugas akhir ini adalah metode kuantitatif, dan proses perancangan alat las titik dimulai dari pembuatan sketsa gambar, proses menentukan ukuran dan pembuatan gambar menggunakan softwareAutoCAD 2010.Dari hasil perancangan alat las titik ini diketahui ukuran dudukan alat menggunakan multiplex dengan panjang 70 cm dan lebar 20 cm serta tebal 1,2 cm, ukuran kaki kaki 3 cm x 3 cm dengan tinggi 1.2 cm, ukuran kotak tempat trafo tebal 1,2 cm, panjang 20 cm, lebar 20 cm dan tinggi 15 cm serta tutup atas 20 cm x 20 cm dan menggunakan plat 1 mm, ukuran penyangga 5,5 x 2,2 cm, tinggi 20 cm, ukuran stang las 60 cm x 2,5 cm, dengan tebal 2,5 cm. Adapun alat yang dirancang memiliki kuat arus listrik sebesar 890 A, dengan resistansi 0,24 ohm dan jumlah panas yang di hasilkan sebesar 380.208 joule

Abstract

Kabupaten Ketapang memiliki potensi peternakan ayam besar, namun proses pemberian pakan masih manual. Pembuatan mesin pencetak pelet dapat meningkatkan efisiensi dan produktivitas. Mesin ini dapat mengolah bahan baku menjadi pelet yang mudah dicerna oleh hewan ternak. Tujuan pembuatan mesin pencetak pelet adalah meningkatkan efisiensi dan produktivitas peternakan ayam dengan menghasilkan pakan ternak berkualitas dan mudah dicerna, serta menghemat waktu dan tenaga. Pembuatan mesin pencetak pelet dilakukan dengan metode desain, perencanaan, pemilihan bahan, perakitan, pengujian, dan evaluasi untuk memastikan kinerja optimal dan menghasilkan pelet berkualitas. Mesin pencetak pelet dibuat dengan sistem screw press menggunakan motor listrik ¼ HP, memiliki dimensi panjang 60x50x45 cm, dan kapasitas 10 kg/jam. Proses pembuatannya melibatkan pemotongan dengan gerinda, pengelasan kerangka dengan kawat las, dan pengeboran. Bahan yang digunakan antara lain besi siku L 4x4, besi hollow 4x4, dan papan plat stainless

Abstract

Alat press hidrolik atau mekanis konvensional seringkali membutuhkan tenaga besar dan biaya operasional yang tinggi. Untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan kemudahan penggunaan, dikembangkan sebuah alat press dengan kapasitas dua kaleng yang memanfaatkan dinamo listrik sebagai penggerak utama.Alat ini dirancang untuk menghasilkan tekanan yang stabil dan mudah diatur, cocok untuk aplikasi daur ulang kaleng atau proses press material sejenis. Sistem transmisi daya menggunakan dinamo listrik dikombinasikan dengan mekanisme screw press atau hidrolik sederhana untuk mengoptimalkan gaya tekan. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa alat ini mampu menghasilkan tekanan yang memadai untuk memadatkan dua kaleng sekaligus dengan konsumsi energi yang relatif rendah. Kelebihan alat ini antara lain operasi yang lebih cepat, penggunaan daya listrik yang efisien, serta desain yang kompak dan mudah dioperasikan. Dengan demikian, alat ini dapat menjadi solusi praktis untuk industri kecil maupun kegiatan daur ulang sampah logam

Abstract

Briket merupakan salah satu sumber energi alternatif yang ramah lingkungan dan efisien, terutama dalam mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap bahan bakar fosil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membuat mesin pencetak briket yang mampu meningkatkan efisiensi produksi dan kualitas hasil cetakan. Mesin ini dirancang menggunakan sistem mekanis berbasis motor bakar dengan konstruksi yang sederhana namun kokoh, sehingga mudah dioperasikan dan dirawat oleh pelaku industri skala kecil hingga menengah.Metode perancangan meliputi analisis kebutuhan pengguna, perhitungan teknis, pemilihan material, serta pengujian performa mesin. Uji coba dilakukan dengan menggunakan bahan baku biomassa seperti sekam padi dan serbuk gergaji yang dicampur dengan perekat alami. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa mesin mampu mencetak briket dengan kapasitas rata-rata 150 briket per jam dan memiliki tingkat kepadatan yang baik, sesuai standar penggunaan domestik maupun industri kecil.Kesimpulannya, mesin pencetak briket yang dikembangkan dalam tugas akhir ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan produktivitas dan mutu briket, serta memiliki potensi untuk diaplikasikan secara luas dalam pengembangan energi terbarukan berbasis biomassa.

Abstract

Excavators are heavy equipment commonly used in projects such as bridge construction and land clearing. In the hydraulic system of an excavator, there are components such as the main pump, regulator pump, control valve, and pilot valve, which function to supply power that will then be converted to actuator components such as the swing motor, track link, boom, arm, and bucket. Improper maintenance scheduling can lead to unpredictable time and cost losses.In conducting this research, the author used several methods to obtain the necessary data, including surveys, interviews, and discussions with mechanics.The type of maintenance carried out at BAPPEDA of the Ketapang Regency Research and Development Agency Regency is Breakdown Maintenance. Maintenance planning is always prepared at the beginning of the year and then documented at the end of the year. Preventive maintenance is only conducted to assess the condition of components and to prepare for necessary repairs. Repairs are carried out based on the planned maintenance schedule as well as unexpected damage that occurs in the field. With proper maintenance scheduling, it is expected to have a positive impact on the service life of several components in the excavator's hydraulic system.
