Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the use of persuasive strategies in L'Oréal Paris advertisements. The approach used is qualitative followed by descriptive exposure using content analysis method in identifying the data being studied. This study refers to Gorys Keraf’s and Pachocińska’s theory which is (1) argumentation with facts (l’argument avec des faits), (2) rhetorical questions (la question rhétorique), (3) imperative sentences (la phrase impérative), and (4) exclamative sentences (la phrase exclamative). Data collection techniques used documentation and note-taking & listening techniques and data analysis techniques using Miles and Hubermen techniques which were divided into three parts, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification/conclusion. The results of this research indicate that there are forty (40) quotes that contain persuasive strategies. There are thirteen (13) advertising data for L’Oréal Paris products. Based on data analysis, all kinds of persuasive strategies were found in L’Oréal Paris advertisements. Arguments with facts (l'argument avec des faits) found seven (7) quotes with 17%, rhetorical questions (la question rhétorique) found five (5) quotes with 12%, imperative sentences (la phrase imperative) found eleven (11) quotes with 28%, and exclamative sentences (la phrase exclamative) found seventeen (17) quotes with 40%which is the dominant strategy found in L’Oréal Paris advertisements.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the types of social conflicts contained in the film BAC Nord by Cédric Jimenez. The main theories used as a reference are two types of social conflict according to the theory of social conflict proposed by Lewis Coser (2001: 49) which consists of Realistic Conflict & Non-Realistic Conflict. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive analysis method using data collection techniques, namely the listening method and the recording technique which refers to the theory proposed by Mahsun (in Muhammad 2014:217-218). The collected data was analyzed using data analysis techniques according to theory by Miles and Hubermen (in Hardani 2020: 163-173), namely data reduction, data presentation (data display), and drawing conclusions.The results of this research on types of social conflicts according to the theory of Lewis Coser found in the film BAC Nord by Cédric Jimenez, there are thirty (30) data in the form of dialogue or conversation that indicate the existence of types of social conflicts. In detail, out of the thirty (30) dialogues, thirteen (13) dialogues were obtained that showed the existence of a type of realistic conflict social conflict. Furthermore, there are seventeen (17) dialogues that indicate the existence of a type of Non-Realistic Conflict social conflict.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the phases of stigmatizing the main character in the novel 813 by Maurice Leblanc. The approach used is a structural qualitative approach to literary works with content analysis methods. Data in the form of words, phrases or sentences, dialogue about the phases of stigma formation. While the data source is Novel 813 by Maurice Leblanc. The theory used in this study refers to the stigma theory according to Jean-Yves Giordana in the form of three phases of stigma formation, namely (1) the labeling phase (Étiquetage) (2) prejudice (Préjudice), and (3) discrimination (Discrimination). Data analysis uses document studies and refers to data analysis techniques for data sources, namely by analyzing each intrinsic element in the novel starting from plot, character and setting, then referring to data analysis techniques used by Miles and Huberman, namely, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that there are twenty-two (22) quotations that show a stigma- forming phases felt by the main character in Maurice Leblanc's novel 813. Among them, the first phase of prejudice amounted to eleven (11) citations, the labelling phase consisted of seven (7) citations and the discrimination phase consisted of four (4) citations. Based on the research that has been completed, it can be concluded that the prejudice phase is the phase most experienced by the main character in Maurice Leblanc's novel 813, followed by the second phase, the labelling phase and the last phase, the discrimination phase.

Abstract

This research intends to gain the Beauvoirian feminism characteristics present in the collection of short stories La Femme Rompue by Simone de Beauvoir. These Beauvoirian feminism characteristics are as follows: 1. Women are capable of working; 2. Women can become intellectuals; 3. Women can work towards the social transformation of society; 4. Women can reject their otherness by identifying themselves through the perspectives of dominant groups in society. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach, with the primary data source being the short story collection La Femme Rompue by Simone de Beauvoir. The study utilizes a structural analysis method for literary works. Research data consists of words, phrases, and sentences from three short story titles within the collection La Femme Rompue. The analytical tool employed is a data analysis table based on Beauvoirian feminism theory. Prior to data analysis, the data is thoroughly read and understood. Subsequently, the data is presented in an analysis table categorized according to the relevant Beauvoirian feminism characteristics. The result of this study indicate that there are 36 quotations that reflect the Beauvoirian feminism characteristics in the collection of short stories La Femme Rompue. The Beauvoirian feminism characteristics that characteristics in the collection of short stories La Femme Rompue is women can reject their otherness by identifying themselves through the perspectives of dominant groups in society with a total of fifteen (15) quotes, followed by women can work towards the social transformation of society with a total of eight (8) quotes, then women can become intellectuals with a total of seven (7) quotes, while the least is women are capable of working with a total of six (6) quotes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of nationalism in the poem La Guerre by Louise Ackermann. This study uses the theory of forms of nationalism according to Taguieff, they are nationalisme ethnique (ethnique nationalism), nationalisme civique (civique nationalism) and nationalisme culturel (cultural nationalism) which are contained in his book entitled La Revanche du Nationalisme. This research method is a qualitative descriptive analysis with flow model of analysis according to Miles and Huberman which includes three components of analysis, there are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification which is carried out by flowing or interconnected and continuous with concurrent data collection process. The results of this study indicate that there are twenty-five (25) data in poetry that indicate forms of nationalism. In detail, there are twenty-four (24) quotations that have the form of nationalisme civique (civique nationalism), five (5) quotation that have the form of nationalisme culturel (cultural nationalism), and three (3) quotations that have the form of nationalisme ethnique (ethnic nationalism).

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop French learning video media on speaking skills for grade XI. This research uses the research and development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Mulyatiningsih, 2016) which consists of 5 stages, this research only carried out 3 stages, namely analysis, design and development. This is due to the limited time available in the research. The learning video media was made based on the results of the needs questionnaire of students of class XI IPS 1 at SMAN 14 Jakarta, the results of interviews with French teachers and the results of classroom observations. This research produces French learning videos for class XI high school that can be accessed easily through the youtube channel. In the process of making the video, the researcher used VN and Canva Pro applications. This learning video consists of 2 videos where in video 1 using inviter quelqu'un, accepter et refuser l'invitation material lasts 8 minutes and in video 2 with féliciter quelqu'un material lasts 5 minutes. In each video there are illustrations and also some small exercises to train students' speaking skills. In addition, in the description column there is an exercise link that is directly connected to learningapps. This learning video has been validated by material experts and media experts with very feasible results with a note of making some improvements and adding some components to the video. After making improvements and additions according to the experts suggestions, this learning video media is ready to be tested in the field.
