Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the science literacy skills of seventh-grade students in ecology subject at SMP Negeri 27 Medan. The research method employed was quantitative with a sample of 64 students from classes VII-6 and VII-5, selected using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a science literacy test, with the independent variable being the teaching model (PBL and direct instruction) and the dependent variable being the students' science literacy skills. The results of the research indicate that the implementation of the PBL model has a significant influence on the science literacy skills of seventh-grade students in class VII-6. Initially, the science literacy skills of students in class VII-6 were at level 2 with a score of 37.50, classified as insufficient. However, after the implementation of the PBL model, the science literacy skills increased to level 4 with a score of 69.58, classified as sufficient. In conclusion, the application of the PBL model was effective in improving the science literacy skills of students in ecology subject at class VII-6 of SMP Negeri 27 Medan. This finding provides important implications for the development of problem-oriented learning approaches to enhance students' science literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the video-assisted PBL learning model on students' science literacy skills on vibration and wave materials. This research used quasi experiment with Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design. Sampling was done by Random Sampling technique. The sample in this study consisted of 2 classes, namely class VIII-4 (Experiment Class) with PBL Learning model assisted by Video and VIII-5 (Control Class) with Conventional learning model. Data collection with tests and documentation. The average data of pretest and posttest learning outcomes in the experimental class were 34.84 and 63.87, respectively, and in the control class 25.06 and 42.96. Data were analyzed with Independent Sample t-test using SPSS Version 21. Based on hypothesis testing, it was found that the PBL learning model assisted by video was effective in using the science literacy skills of students on vibration and wave material in class VIII SMP Negeri 27 Medan in the 2023/2024 academic year. In the experimental class, the achievement of the learning level after being treated with the Video-Assisted PBL model was achieved with an experimental class N-gain value of 45% in the sufficient category. And in the control class using the conventional model, the N-gain obtained was 24% with a very low category.

Abstract

Abstract: The guided inquiry learning model is one of the learning models that can improve student learningoutcomes and student learning activities which is a learning model where teachers and students determineand formulate problems together, and students actively seek and find answers and draw their ownconclusions. The purpose of the study was to determine the results of science learning on the material ofPlant Structure and Function of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 12 Medan. To determine the Effect ofthe Guided Inquiry Learning Model on Student Learning Outcomes on the Material of Plant Structure andFunction in Class VIII SMP Negeri 12 Medan. This research method uses a quantitative research method.The form of research is Quasi Experimental Design. The research design is a two group design. Datacollection techniques were carried out using pre-research observations, interviews with Class VIII scienceteachers, conducting written tests on students in the form of questions, non-tests or questionnaires, observingstudent activities, and documentation in the form of research images and photos and value documents relatedto the results. Data analysis using hypothesis testing (one-sided t-test) and N-Gain testing. Based on theresults of the t-test, the obtained t-value is 4.66> t-table 2.00. This means that the results of the hypothesistest t-count are greater than t-table. Next, based on the results of the N-gain test, the increase in learningoutcomes in the control class was higher, namely 69% compared to the increase in student learning outcomesof 52%. So that the Guided Inquiry Learning Model applied to the experimental class in this study has aneffect on student learning outcomes in the material on the Structure and Function of Plants in class VIII ofSMP Negeri 12 Medan.Keywords: Learning

Abstract

This research explores the effects of applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, supported by PhET Colorado media, on students' learning achievement and science process skills in the topic of force among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 37 Medan during the 2024/2025 academic year. The study employs a quasi-experimental approach using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design, with two classes selected as the research sample, VII-E (Experimental Class) using PBL with PhET Colorado and VII-F (Control Class) without PBL and PhET Colorado. The sampling technique applied was Purposive Sampling. Data collection was conducted through tests and observations, followed by analysis using the Independent Sample t-test. In the experimental class, the average pretest score was 40, while the posttest score showed a significant improvement, reaching 84, while in the control class, they were 39 and 67. The hypothesis test confirmed a significant effect of PBL with PhET Colorado on students' learning outcomes. Additionally, the final assessment of science process skills revealed that the experimental class achieved a proficiency rate of 79.41%, whereas the control class attained a lower percentage of 39.16%, demonstrating a significant impact of the implemented learning model. Abstract

Dari hasil penelusuran peneliti terhadap sejumlah artikel jurnal diketahui bahwa pembelajaran penggunaan model PBL berbantuan komik terdapat adanya peningkatkan. Model yang diterapkan dapat memengaruhi hasil pada siswa. Penelitian Wardhania (2024) menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model PBL bersama media komik hasil belajar siswa dapat  meningkat. Penelitian Mustika (2024) bahwa model pembelajaran PBL secara signifikan meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa berbantuan komik. Penelitian ini akan dilaksanakan di Smp Negeri 8 Medan beralamat di Jl. Turi Ujung No. 96, Sudirejo I, Kec. Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of a science literacy test instrument based on content validity, item validity, reliability, level of difficulty, discrimination power, and effectiveness of distractor options, as well as teacher responses to the developed test instrument. The research and development of this test instrument used the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages, namely analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 8 Medan through 2 stages of product trials, namely small group trials with 10 test participants from grades VIII-9, and large group trials with 30 test participants from grades VIII-8. The results of content validity based on the assessment of 5 validators, 25 questions were declared valid and suitable for use. Based on the small group trial, 20 questions (80%) were declared suitable for use and 5 questions (20%) were not suitable for use. In the large group trial, the results of the item validity of 20 questions (100%) were declared valid. The reliability value of the instrument was 0.735 with a high reliability interpretation. Based on the level of difficulty, 20 questions (100%) were obtained with moderate criteria, based on the discrimination power, 6 questions (30%) were obtained with good criteria and 14 questions (70%) with sufficient criteria, based on the effectiveness of distractor options, 20 questions (100%) were obtained with very effective criteria. The teacher's response to the developed test instrument obtained an average value of 89.90% with very good criteria. Based on the results of the data analysis, 20 questions on the developed science literacy test instrument were feasible to use and could measure students' science literacy levels.

Abstract

Program Green School yang diterapkan Tim PKM melalui PKBM Laskar Pelangi bertujuan untuk memberdayakan anak-anak putus sekolah melalui pendidikan lingkungan hidup dan pelatihan keterampilan berbasis pertanian berkelanjutan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan partisipatif dan berbasis pemberdayaan masyarakat, melalui tahapan persiapan, edukasi, pelatihan dan evaluasi. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui perbandingan nilai pretes dan postes untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam hal pertanian berkelanjutan dan produk POC siap pakai. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta, dari 37% menjadi 86%. Metode pembelajaran yang fleksibel, kontekstual, dan berbasis praktik terbukti efektif meningkatkan keterlibatan, kepercayaan diri, dan kesadaran ekologis peserta. Program ini tidak hanya memperkuat aspek ekonomi melalui pelatihan keterampilan, tetapi juga mendorong keadilan sosial dengan memberikan akses pendidikan nonformal yang inklusif, mendukung kelestarian lingkungan serta sustainable development.

Abstract

This study aims to see the feasibility based on the assessment of material experts, language and learning experts, design experts, the responses of educators and students as well as the effectiveness of the Student Worksheets Based on PjBL Using Liveworksheet on Temperature and Heat Material to Increase Student Learning Outcomes at VII Junior High School students. The sample of this study was students of class VII-5, totaling 32 people. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. The instrument used in this study consisted of a material expert validation questionnaire, language and learning experts, design experts, a questionnaire for educators and students' responses. The test is in the form of an essay to measure the level of students' learning outcome on Temperature and Heat material. Based on the results of the study obtained data from material expert validation of 84%, validation of language and learning experts 97,33% and validation of design experts 82,66% with each in the strongly feasible category. The response of students with 32 people was 85,33% and teacher response was 92% in the strongly feasible category. So based on the results of the students™ worksheet validation, this is suitable for use in the learning process. Students™ worksheet which is designed effectively to increase students' learning outcomes, the results of students' learning outcomes are obtained with an average N-Gain value of 0.72 with high criteria.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the impact of the Discovery Learning model on students' scientific literacy skills in ecology at SMP Negeri 1 Delitua. The research method used was quantitative with a sample of 66 students from classes VII-5 and VII-6, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used is a scientific literacy test, with the independent variable (Discovery Learning model and direct learning model) and the dependent variable is students' scientific literacy abilities. The results of the research show that the application of the Discovery Learning model has a significant influence on the scientific literacy abilities of class VII-5 students who are at level 2 with a score of 31, which is in the poor category. However, after implementing the Discovery Learning model, scientific literacy ability increased to level 4 with a score of 69 and was included in the sufficient category.In conclusion, the application of the Discovery Learning model is effective in improving students' literacy skills on ecological material in class VII-5 SMP Negeri 1 Delitua. This finding provides an important implication for the development of a more problem-oriented student learning approach in improving students' science literacy.

Abstract

Penelitin ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara keterampilan proses sains dan hasil belajar siswa dengan penerapan Problem-Based Learning yang didukung PhET Colorado pada materi Gaya di kelas VII SMP Negeri 37 Medan T.A 2024/2025. Sampel terdiri dari 30 peserta didik yang diberi pembelajaran PBL berbantuan PhET. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik Purposive Sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes dan observasi. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji Korelasi Pearson Product Moment. Data rata-rata hasil belajar siswa setelah diberi pembelajaran PBL berbantuan PhET Colorado pada materi Gaya adalah 84. Data rata-rata persentase akhir keterampilan proses sains kelas eksperimen adalah 79,41%. Bedasarkan uji korelasi menggunakan Korelasi Pearson Product Moment diperoleh bahwa terdapat hubungan antara keterampilan proses sains dengan hasil belajar siswa dengan koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar 0,690 berada dalam kategori tinggi, menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan keterampilan proses sains siswa sejalan dengan peningkatan hasil belajar mereka.
