Abstract

Until now, many food variants have been created by the public to attract buyers' interest. In fact, if food is not processed properly, what happens instead of being beneficial for someone is actually detrimental, one of which becomes a source of disease. Children are the target for instant food sellers who often line up and sell in front of schools. Because it tastes delicious, nowadays children are used to buying these snacks which do not necessarily have good nutritional value. If explored further, poor nutritional value will cause a serious condition in children's development called stunting. Therefore, in Sumbersekar Village there is still no education regarding healthy food, especially from an early age. For this reason, it is necessary to teach children from an early age so that they can avoid foods with low nutritional value. The target for this education is children, therefore story telling regarding healthy food will be given of course also using interactive props so that children are interested and able to remember which food categories are healthy and unhealthy. The results of this service received a very good response and according to the teacher's observations, after these teaching aids were given, children became more aware of bringing vegetables and fruit menus when bringing lunch to school. Evaluation of this service is a more structured observation, especially in the form of a questionnaire for effectiveness and monitoring changes in student behavior before and after being given the story telling service and game tools.

Considering that Indonesian education has gone through such a long journey from 1922 to 2022 now, it is necessary to have an educational program that is able to meet the demands of workers' needs in this era of globalization. In the end, the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology designed an education policy system in the realm of higher education, namely "Freedom of Learning - Independent Campus", as an accurate strategy for optimizing academics in today's Indonesia. In this study, a survey was aimed at 40 undergraduate students of the Chemistry Study Program at Ma Chung University. Data analysis were made by quantitative approach of the nine questions succcessfully answered by students who filled out questionnaires in the online multiple choice questionnaire with a dependency test by nonparametric statistical methods. As a result, the majority of students of the Chemistry Study Program were quite enthusiastic about this new educational policy, although it was necessary to optimize all internal strategies of the study program curriculum, so that it could be in accordance with the activities designed in the "Freedom of Learning - Independent Campus" Program.

Abstract

As a pioneering school, TK DWP Kenongo must begin implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka. One key program to be carried out is the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5). At the early childhood education level, teachers are encouraged to independently develop teaching modules, project modules, and learning materials by utilizing available resources around them. Given the flexible nature of the curriculum, teachers have the freedom to develop learning methods aligned with their vision and mission. One of these is the incorporation of basic English language introduction as a local content subject. With the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka, they aim to integrate basic English language learning within the curriculum. Therefore, assistance in integrating these two aspects is highly needed. To address this issue, the proposing team initiates a solution by identifying existing materials and integrating them with basic English introduction for students. This approach ensures that the Kurikulum Merdeka, which is based on four main themes, and English language instruction can run simultaneously, aligning with students' developmental stages. After identifying the core issues and available resources, the proposed program includes training and mentoring for integrating English language instruction into relevant P5 activities, along with classroom implementation support. The solution focuses on two key aspects: training and mentoring for the implementation of the Aku Cinta Indonesia teaching module integrated into P5. As a result, the program objectives are achieved, leading to an improvement in teachers' skills in teaching English in alignment with Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

This study examines the pervasive nature of hybridity in Indonesia, recognizing modern Indonesia as a nation shaped by the dynamic interaction of diverse influences. Acknowledging varying acceptance levels of this reality, the research synthesizes studies on hybridity in the country from the past fifteen years (2009-2024) to map the multifaceted landscape of hybrid identity. Through close reading and observation, the project investigates three core areas: (1) identifying primary loci where hybridity manifests; (2) exploring constituent elements contributing to hybrid identities, tracing their origins; (3) analyzing the spectrum of responses to hybridity. Analysis reveals that studies of hybrid identity in Indonesia encompass nearly all forms of cultural expression, spanning literature, culinary, architecture, music, and performance. This ubiquity highlights hybridity's deep integration into Indonesian cultural life. Contributing elements are equally diverse, drawing from Indonesia's rich tapestry of ethnic communities and global interactions shaping the archipelago over centuries. This confluence of local and global influences creates a dynamic cultural mosaic. The study finds that the dominant response to hybridity in Indonesia is one of embrace and celebration. Most research emphasizes the positive aspects of cultural fusion, highlighting the creativity and innovation born from blended traditions. However, some studies express concern about hybridity potentially threatening perceived essential values within specific cultural expressions. These contrasting perspectives underscore the ongoing dialogue surrounding hybridity in Indonesia and the need for nuanced understandings of cultural evolution. This research offers a comprehensive overview of current scholarship on hybridity in Indonesia, providing valuable insights into the dynamic interplay of cultural influences shaping Indonesia’s identity.

Abstract

This paper depicts the types and uses of figurative expressions in the characterization of verse-novel Home of the Brave by Katherine Applegate. The objectives of this study are, first, to identify what kinds of figurative language the author uses in the story and second, to identify the use of figurative language in the characterization. As a descriptive qualitative study, the writers applied various literary theories such as figurative language (metaphor, simile, and personification), direct characterization, and stylistics. After analyzing the data, the writer found that there are 292 figurative languages found in the verse-novel Home of the Brave, which include: 89 metaphors, 98 similes and 105 personifications. Based on the findings, personification is mostly found throughout the story and the author mostly uses natural elements as comparison. The writer found that the use of personification is suitable for delivering story from narrator’s perspective because he is an immigrant from Sudan who can hardly understand the concept of many unfamiliar things in America. By linking human nature, he describes the world he sees and personifies it. Besides, it also proves that the use of figurative language is successfully employed by the novel’s author in the portrayal of characters physically and mentally as narrated by Kek as the main character of the story, in the view of the first person.
