Abstract

Permasalahan lingkungan yang seringkali terjadi adalah penumpukan sampah-sampah rumah tangga. Semua rumah tangga menghasilkan sampah, baik organik dan anorganik yang berpotensi untuk mencemari lingkungan. Kelurahan Sawojajar, Kotamadya Malang merupakan target dalam implementasi kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat bertema lingkungan hidup. Adanya permasalahan bagaimana mengolah sampah organik dan pemanfataan lahan terbatas dijawab dengan menerapkan metode keranjang Takakura dan tanaman jejer. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah/ diskusi, workshop, praktek, dan observasi. Metode diskusi dan workshop digunakan sebagai media untuk menyampaikan materi dan memahami pentingnya menjaga lingkungan hidup, mengolah sampah organik dan bertanam sayuran. Praktek dan observasi digunakan untuk mengaplikasikan materi yang sudah diperoleh sekaligus mengamati kemampuan masyarakat sebagai evaluasi dan kegiatan berkesinambungan. Hasil yang sudah diperoleh melalui kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya kesadaran kelompok mitra mengenai pentingnya mengolah sampah organik, meningkatnya kemampuan dalam membuat keranjang kompos takakura sebagai sarana pembuatan sampah menjadi kompos, dan mempunyai kemapuan menanam sayuran di halaman rumah atau sekitar.Kata kunci : Sawojajar, Takakura, sampah, tanaman jejer

Abstract

Iron (III) (Fe (III)) is widely used in the industry such us water treatment, the sugar cane, the concrete industry and coal mining. Industrial activity using Fe(III) has potential impact to environmental pollution problems due to that industry produces Fe waste that one of hazardous waste. Fe content excess might toxic effect to human health and the environment. Zeolite as adsorbent has been evaluated extensively for Fe and other heavy metal. Sonication method has been widely developed in polymer preparation. The method is more effective in operation time because the reaction rate increased and also more efficient on the usage of chemical reagens. The optimization of reaction time, the ratio of Fe(III) with activated zeolite, the influence of pH, and temperature has been assessed for Fe(III) adsorption with an activated zeolite by sonication technique. The formation of Fe(III)-SCN complex assay was used for determination of Fe(III) adsorbed by the activated zeolite with using spectrophotometer. The results showed a relatively short operation time (15 minutes), at pH of 4, temperature of  30 °C with the ratio of 1:50 (weight/volume) for the activated zeolite and Fe(III).

Abstract

This research aims to study the glycerol degradation reaction in subcritical and supercritical water media. The degradation of glycerol into other products was performed both with sulphate salt catalysts and without catalyst. The reactant was made from glycerol and water with the mass ratio of 1:10. The experiments were carried out using a batch reactor at a constant pressure of 250 kgf/cm2, with the temperature range of 200-400oC, reaction time of 30 minutes, and catalyst mol ratio in glycerol of 1:10 and 1:8. The products of the non-catalytic glycerol degradation were acetaldehyde, methanol, and ethanol. The use of sulphate salt as catalyst has high selectivity to acetaldehyde and still allows the formation alcohol product in small quantities. The mechanism of ionic reaction and free radical reaction can occur at lower temperature in hydrothermal area or subcritical water. Conversion of glycerol on catalytic reaction showed a higher yield when compared with the reaction performed without catalyst

Abstract

Dyes are widely used for various manufacturing processes. However, the high use of synthetic dyes has resulted in pollution and health problems. To overcome this problem, one way that can be done is to return to using natural dyes. Natural dyes can be obtained from various plants, one of which is the Indonesian mangrove plant (Rhizophora mucronata). This research has succeeded in extracting natural dyestuffs from mangrove bark using the microwave-assisted extraction method. Mangrove wood extraction was carried out with solvents, namely distilled water and ethanol 96%, which was optimized based on the ratio of sample mass to volume of solvent and extraction power. The results showed that qualitatively the mangrove extract contained tannins, flavonoids, and quinones as compounds that gave chocolate color. The color resistance of mangrove extracts is very strong in textiles under alkaline conditions. Based on the results of extraction optimization, the optimum conditions were obtained at a ratio of 0.067 g/mL of 96% ethanol at 380 watts of power, with a yield percentage reaching 53.053%. Keywords: extraction, mangrove wood, microwave Zat warna banyak digunakan untuk berbagai proses manufaktur. Namun, tingginya penggunaan zat pewarna sintetis mengakibatkan pencemaran dan masalah kesehatan. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan adalah kembali menggunakan zat warna alami. Zat pewarna alami dapat diperoleh dari berbagai tumbuhan, salah satunya tanaman bakau Indonesia (Rhizophora mucronata). Penelitian ini telah berhasil melakukan ekstraksi zat warna alami kulit kayu bakau dengan metode microwave-assisted extraction. Ekstraksi kayu bakau dilakukan dengan pelarut yaitu akuades dan etanol 96% yang dioptimasi berdasarkan rasio massa sampel–volume pelarut dan daya ekstraksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara kualitatif ekstrak kayu bakau mengandung tanin, flavonoid, dan kuinon sebagai senyawa pemberi warna coklat. Ketahanan warna ekstrak kayu bakau sangat kuat pada bahan tekstil pada kondisi basa. Berdasarkan hasil optimasi ekstraksi, kondisi optimum didapatkan pada rasio massa sampel-volum pelarut sebesar 0,067 g/mL dan daya sebesar 380 Watt sehingga diperoleh persentase yield mencapai 53,053%. Kata kunci: ekstraksi, kayu bakau, microwave

Abstract

Endophytic fungi can produce compound that similar with the host, so it can be  used as mass production of compound. The optimal and valid assay method is needed to obtain the proper culture condition, which one using densitometric Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). This research used 11 samples of endophytic fungi culture extract from Phyllantus niruri within various culture condition. Optimization of mobile phase was done using 3 kinds of mobile phase mixture, chloroform: ethyl acetate: methanol (8:8:4); chloroform: ethyl acetate: methanol: NH4OH (8:8:4:0.005); chloroform:ethyl acetate:NH4OH (8:8:0.005). Validation method measured using some parameters such as linearity, accuracy, and precision. The result of optimization and validation showed that TLC densitometry method can be used for measuring alkaloid level within the endophytic fungi extract of P. niruri using chloroform: ethyl acetate: NH4OH (8:8:0.005), with R value is 0.977, percentage of recovery is between 90–110, and RSD ≤7% on each concentration series. While the proper condition of endophytic fungi culture is using sucrose as carbon source and at pH 6 condition. The content of alkaoid reached 25.9 ± 1.4 mg 100 g-1 fresh weight.

Abstract

Abstract: Fe3+ ion is one type of heavy metal waste that is often encountered from the rest of the industrial processes and laboratory education. Adsorption using natural zeolite is one way of reducing the content of Fe3+ ions. Sonication waves can influence the adsorption process that happens. Adsorption of Fe3+ by sonication assisted natural zeolite follows 1st order kinetics base on Santosa equation with R2 value =0.928. Isothermal adsorption of this study follow Freundlich equation with R2 value = 0.948, n= 1.789 and KF = 1.832.Abstrak: Ion Fe3+ adalah salah satu jenis limbah logam berat yang sering dijumpai dari sisa proses industri dan laboratorium pendidikan. Adsorpsi menggunakan zeolit alam adalah salah satu cara mengurangi kandungan ion Fe3+.Gelombang sonikasi dapat mempengaruhi proses adsorpsi yang terjadi. Adsorpsi Fe3+ zeolit alam dengan bantuan gelombang sonikasi mengikuti kinetika orde 1 berdasarkan persamaan Santosa dengan nilai R2 = 0.928. Isoterm adsorpsi pada penelitian ini mengikuti isoterm Freundlich dengan nilai R2 = 0.948, n = 1.789, dan KF = 1.832.

Abstract

The pigment in mulberry (Morus alba L.), anthocyanin, is a kind of natural pigment for food processing and has functional potential and commercial values. Some investigators have developed a method to obtain high extraction yields in a short time. High yields with Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction method using ultrasonic waves that affect the cell wall and causes the destruction of a thin layer and helps in releasing phenolic compounds that trapped in the cell wall. Microwave Assisted Extraction method uses the energy of microwave radiation to heat the solvent quickly and efficiently. This study concludes and gives an overview advantages of both methods were compared with conventional methods.

Abstract

The people of Gondowangi, Malang need a program to improve knowledge and skills art creations. One stroke painting is a simple painting technique that can produce unique and interesting visual works despite using only very simple techniques. Based on situation analysis, Ma Chung University created a corporate social responsibility program (CSR) aimed at empowering the people of Gondowangi, Malang in terms of knowledge and skills art creations. This program will be able to have a great influence on the people of Gondowangi, Malang, which is to make more productive and able to produce art products that have economic value. The method of this program is the first day is a socialization activity about the knowledge of painting with one stroke painting technique, then day two is a direct training activity painting with one stroke painting technique. The people are very enthusiastic to participate in this program. As a result of this program, the people of Gondowangi, Malang are more confident in painting and have art products. The sustainability of this program is excellent because has a consultation program that is coordinated directly between the head of this program and the head of people Gondowangi, Malang to ensure better cooperation in the future.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v5i2.4241

Abstract

Desa Tegalweru yang terletak di Kecamatan Dau, Kabupaten Malang dikenal dengan hasil panennya yaitu cabai, jeruk, pisang, dan tomat. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan pada tahun 2018 adalah membantu permasalah mitra dalam mengelola potensi lokal yang ada di Desa Tegalweru untuk meningkatkan nilai jual produk di desa tersebut. Upaya yang telah dilakukan adalah memberikan penyuluhan kepada masyarakat mengenai keamanan pangan, bagaimana pengolahan pangan yang sehat dan pemanfaatan bahan tambahan pangan yang aman bagi kesehatan. Berdasarkan hasil survei terhadap penduduk setempat, kemudian dilakukan analisis menggunaan wilcoxon test, dihasilkan p-value = 1. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut didapati bahwa terjadi peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai teknik pengolahan pangan yang sehat dan penggunaan BTP yang aman bagi tubuh atau kesehatan.
