Abstract

Packaging design is a challenge for the development of micro-industries, especially to encounter high competition against well-known products. Unfortunately, most of micro-industries have limitations in term of packaging design and attractiveness. The purpose of this study was to design the right packaging prototype model for the micro-industries. The study applied the value engineering approach which consisted of information, creative, analysis, development, and recommendation stages. In the creative stage, the process included making the moodboards, sketches and digitizing designs as well as generating prototypes. Fuzzy AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) was applied in the analysis stage to obtain the weight of each performance parameter. From the analysis, it found that colour was the most significant parameter in determining packaging design of specialty coffee packaging. The most appropriate model recommendation as a representation of packaging for specialty coffee businesses for micro-scale industries was the flat bottom pouch type contained in alternative III. Abstract

Kota Depok, located in the western part of West Java Province, has experienced rapid growth over the past few decades. This growth occurred alongside intense urbanization, industrial development, and population increase. Apart from the positive impact of economic growth and infrastructure development, this rapid development causes environmental damage and loss of green open land. This can impact air, water, and soil quality and threaten environmental sustainability. This paper systematically tries to inventory the factors involved in urban green spaces' sustainability with a structural approach using Cross-Impact Matric Multiplication Applied to Classification (MICMAC) software. Of the 12 factors analyzed, five have a strong level of influence and low dependence, and 3 have a strong influence but have high reliance. These factors are 1) LU policy, 2) law enforcement, 3) environmental education, 4) stakeholder integrity, and 5) community involvement and participation, while 1) biodiversity conservation, 2) land value, and 3 ) environmental maintenance and protection is a factor that has a strong influence but is also highly dependent. Stakeholders can use the results of identifying these key factors as considerations for making decisions.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Business model changes have far-reaching implications for overall company performance, including social and environmental aspects. Business Model Canvas (BMC) is often used as a framework for designing business models. However, the concept of sustainability involving social and environmental aspects is often not fully integrated into using BMC. In other words, BMC tends to focus more on economic aspects alone. Urban studies have dominated research on business and entrepreneurship. Studies on rural entrepreneurship, especially in developing countries, are still minimal, with 78% (10 documents) of journal article publications in 2021 dominated by social sciences (26%), business, management, accounting (19%), and agriculture and biology (7%). In addition, there is a research gap in economics, especially regarding the role of women in organic farming, although women are more often involved in organic farming than men.Purpose: This research uses the Business Model Canvas for Sustainability (BMCS) to develop a business model centered on village-based sustainability issues, specifically focusing on the Mekar Sari Women Farmers Group (WFG) in Bogor, Indonesia.Design/methodology/approach: The research was conducted in Neglasari Village, Bogor District, West Java, Indonesia. The research was conducted for 3 months for one case study from July to September 2024. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a descriptive-qualitative approach. The research used primary and secondary data from literature studies, field observations, and interviews with 20 respondents selected based on the criteria set. It was then analyzed with the business unit's BMCS framework, the results of which were used to identify the 10 main elements of BMCS.Finding/Result: The results showed that the Mekar Sari Women Farmers Group business had implemented most of the BMCS components. Elements identified include vision and mission, value propositions, customer segments, competitors, stakeholders, revenue model, key resources, key activities, key partnerships, and cost structures. Conclusions: Based on the identification of the business model currently implemented by WFG Mekar Sari, it shows that WFG has constraints on market competition, customer segments, and key partnerships that affect the revenue model of Mekar Sari's WFG organic vegetable business. To improve business performance, WFG Mekar Sari needs to adopt a sustainable business strategy for its future business development.Originality/value (State of the art): This study contributes to developing sustainable business models by addressing the gap in integrating sustainability into the BMC framework, especially in village-based businesses. This study shows that BMCS is one of the tools that can be considered for designing more sustainable businesses. Abstract

The aim of this study is to provide an objective overview in buyer-supplier relationship in manufacturing industries to enhance competitiveness in the context of service quality, business ethics, and relational governance. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA model and 53 papers were selected after had been screened. The results showed that: 1) research’s objects encompass various types of manufacturing industries, such as pulp & paper, chemical, mining, automotive, SMEs, and diverse organizations which came from 22 countries, whereas China, European countries, and African countries are likely paid intensive intension regarding the three dimensions of research’s objects. The methods used in existing studies mostly focused on factor analysis, qualitative/descriptive, and system dynamic. However, soft system was the least commonly utilized in buyer-supplier relationship in context of industries’ competitiveness, 2) Service quality positively affects customers’ satisfaction, trust, customer and brand loyalty, and it is also a strong mediator to green logistics performance. Customers’ perceptions on service quality and brand can take precedence over traditional competitive advantages due to increased level of competition and customers’ changing expectations. Adopting ethics as a policy could be an advantage for business to stay competitive. Furthermore, relational governance requires trust and information sharing so that building a trustworthy buyer-supplier relationship is critical for successful supply chain management, 3) Paper industry is still considered a research trend, therefore focusing in integrating both soft and hard systems approach for strategy development is the most appropriate in order to improve its’ competitiveness as the basis for upcoming research. Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are one of the business actors in Indonesia that have considerable potential in supporting the national economy. Business incubators are one of the parties that can play a role in assisting the growth and development of micro, small and medium enterprises, but in practice business incubators face various limitations related to human resources, capital, facilities, coaching, technology, market potential and regulations. The influence of these limitations has an impact on the performance of mentoring or coaching, so it is necessary for business incubators to develop their mentoring programmes to be able to provide assistance in accordance with the needs needed by the current fostered tenants, so as to improve the business performance. This research aims to formulate an appropriate development strategy for the IPB Business Incubator by analysing the internal and external environment of the incubator. The method in this research uses the analysis of Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE), External Factor Evaluation (EFE), SWOT analysis (Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats), and using Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). The results showed that three strategies were recommended for the development of IPB's Business Incubator, namely developing an online marketing platform that can help market tenant products online, developing incubation programmes that can improve tenant competitiveness, and building cooperation with many parties both nationally and internationally.
