Abstract

This project-based Classroom Action Research aims to improve students' speaking skills in the Interpersonal Speaking course, which are still low, and to enhance students' self-confidence. This research uses the Kemmis and McTaggart method and consists of 2 cycles. Planning, implementation, observation, and reflection are components in each cycle. This classroom action research was conducted two meetings in each cycle. The instruments used consisted of pre-test and post-test, questionnaires and observation sheets. The results of this study were analysed using simple statistical methods with the following outcomes: the pre-test score was 62 and the post-test score was 68 in the first cycle, while the pre-test score in the second cycle was 64 and the post-test score was 78. The students' confidence level also increased by 75% during the second cycle. This indicates an improvement in speaking skills, an increase in students' confidence, and a positive response to the material. After the method was used, the speaking learning outcomes in the Interpersonal Speaking course improved. Recommendations for this research include strengthening the implementation of PBL through relevant project designs, approaches to boost confidence, utilization of technology, evaluations based on student feedback, professional development for lecturers, and integration into the curriculum. By implementing these recommendations, it is expected that students' learning outcomes and their confidence in interpersonal speaking will improve, and their responses to the learning process will become increasingly positive.

Abstract

Thalassemia is a genetic disease that is still a problem in Indonesia. Patients often face emotional problems and difficulties in social relationships. This condition can affect the management and treatment of thalassemia. Family gatherings play an important role in strengthening the support system for thalassemia patients and their families. The collective strength and determination gained from this family gathering helps thalassemia patients and their families face the challenges of this condition head-on, bringing a sense of hope and optimism for the future. Family gathering activities were carried out which were attended by more than 200 patients and their families. Overall, family gatherings focused on strengthening thalassemia families and patients provide an important platform for support, education, and empowerment. Family gatherings increase emotional support, belonging, remove stigma, and motivate to always be better.

Abstract

Penyandang thalassemia menghadapi tantangan yang signifikan terutama tantangan fisik, psikologis dan ekonomi. Keterbatasan fisik dan kewajiban melakukan transfusi darah secara rutin membatasi para penyandang dalam kegiatan ekonomi. Keterbatasan partisipasi ini dimungkinkan berpengaruh pada kondisi perekonomian mereka. Tim pengabdian masyarakat dari Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Jenderal Soedirman berinisiatif untuk menginisiasi kegiatan yang sekiranya dapat menjawab tantangan ini. Kegiatan yang dimaksudkan ialah pelatihan keterampilan pembuatan kain shibori dan ecoprint bagi anggota perkumpulan penyandang thalasemia di Banyumas Raya. Tujuan dilakukan kegiatan ini selain untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan keterampilan usaha kain shibori dan ecoprint, juga untuk mengakrabkan sesama anggota perkumpulan dan memperluas jejaring. Tim Pengabdi berkerja sama dengan Perkumpulan Penyandang Talasemia Indonesia (PPTI) cabang Banyumas. Metode yang dilakukan meliputi pemberian materi di kelas, praktek bersama ahli dan diskusi mengenai potensi pengembangan usaha. Peserta pelatihan mengapresiasi upaya tim pengabdi dan memberikan evaluasi secara kualitatif.

Abstract

The research titled "An Analysis of Present Tense Mastery Reflected in the Writings of First-Semester Students of the Agrotechnology Study Program in the Academic Year 2024/2025" aims to determine the extent to which Agrotechnology students understand sentence structure concepts. This is a descriptive study involving a population of 15 students enrolled in the Agrotechnology Study Program for the 2024/2025 academic year. All 15 students were used as the sample in this study. The data were collected through a writing test conducted during the mid-semester examination. In this study, the researcher analyzed all student writing samples, focusing on three main aspects: (1) the presence or absence of present tense verbs as predicates in verbal sentences, (2) the agreement between the predicate and its subject in present tense constructions, and (3) the correct or incorrect use of auxiliary verbs in nominal present tense sentences. The analysis revealed that 95.54% of the student’s demonstrated awareness of using present tense verbs as predicates in the sentences they wrote. Furthermore, 92.69% of the students correctly used present tense predicate forms that matched the subjects of their sentences. Additionally, 92.36% of the students were able to use auxiliary verbs correctly as present tense predicates in nominal sentences. Keywords: present, tense, writing, Agrotechnology

Abstract

This journal contains Instagram caption as online learning media on the extended writing subject in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic. Instagram is one of the popular culture products in the digital era. It is one of choices to be online learning media especially in improving writing. Most people have Instagram account in the recent time. They are very active in using Instagram. Anything can be viral on this platform. This study presents the students’ perceptions of using social media Instagram. The data were analyzed by using qualitative standard of research. The result of this research is there are the advantages in using of Instagram caption as online learning media on the subject of extended during pandemic of Covid-19. The first advantage shows that participants can understand grammatical English like understanding on simple past tenses, subject- verb agreement and spelling correctly. The second, the participants can build their confidence in English writing by writing some Instagram captions. The third, the participants do writing as a daily habit. They are stimulated to write English captions in the lockdown time. The fourth, the participants got improving vocabularies.

Abstract

Thalassemia telah menjadi masalah kesehatan yang mendesak di Indonesia karena tingginya prevalensi pembawa dan individu yang terkena. Keberagaman kelompok etnis di nusantara berkontribusi pada distribusi jenis thalassemia yang bervariasi, dengan beta-thalassemia menjadi yang paling umum. Data epidemiologi menggarisbawahi kebutuhan mendesak untuk strategi komprehensif untuk memerangi thalassemia dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup individu yang terkena. Gerakan thalassemia di Indonesia diprakarsai oleh Yayasan Thalassemia Indonesia (YTI). YTI telah muncul sebagai kekuatan pendorong di balik peningkatan kesadaran, mengadvokasi kebijakan perawatan kesehatan yang lebih baik, dan mendorong jaringan dukungan untuk pasien dan keluarga mereka. Kegiatan yayasan mencakup berbagai bidang, termasuk kampanye publik, program pendidikan, dan inisiatif penelitian. Upaya kolaboratif antara yayasan dan akademisi telah mendorong pendekatan sinergis, menggabungkan keahlian ilmiah dengan advokasi akar rumput dan keterlibatan masyarakat. Partisipasi akademisi memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk kegiatan yayasan, mulai dari penelitian dan peningkatan kapasitas hingga konseling dan skrining genetik. Kekuatan kemitraan interdisipliner dalam mengatasi tantangan kesehatan yang kompleks diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kehidupan individu yang terkena thalassemia.

Abstract

Thalassemia merupakan penyakit genetik yang memerlukan perhatian serius di Kabupaten Banyumas. Dengan jumlah penderita yang terus meningkat, diperlukan upaya pencegahan yang komprehensif dan berkelanjutan. Kegiatan sosialisasi ini bertujuan untuk menggalang komitmen seluruh pemangku kepentingan dalam upaya pencegahan thalassemia di Banyumas. Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi massal dengan mengundang 150 peserta dari berbagai elemen masyarakat. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi dari peserta, tercermin dari diskusi interaktif dan pertanyaan yang diajukan. Kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran peserta tentang pentingnya pencegahan thalassemia, serta menghasilkan komitmen bersama untuk mendukung program "Banyumas goes to Zero Thalassemia 2030". Kesimpulannya, sosialisasi ini merupakan langkah awal yang penting dalam upaya pencegahan thalassemia di Banyumas, namun diperlukan tindak lanjut dan kerja sama yang berkelanjutan dari seluruh pihak untuk mencapai tujuan yang diharapkan

Abstract

This research aims to determine the development of literature in the digital era which has shifted to cyber literature and also determine the existence of popularity of cyber literature among Gen-Z, the young generation whose demographic is already quite large 27.94% of the total population in Indonesia. It used a descriptive qualitative research methods with data collection through questionnaires and documentation. The questionnaire was used to determine the existence of cyber literature as a popular literature media among Gen-Z. This questionnaire was given to 100 respondents who were born in 1994-2010 (aged around 14-29 years old) so they were included in the Gen-Z group. The research results show that around 96% of respondents have read cyber literature and 55% have cyber literature accounts. Around 42.6% of Gen-Z said that the average intensity of using cyber literature was once a week and 29.7% said that they used literary applications around 1-3 times a week. The majority of Gen-Z think that cyber literature is easy and practical to use, can be accessed for free, provides a wide variety of interesting and up-to-date stories from local and international sources and can increase their literacy and knowledge, especially in terms of language and literature.
