Abstract

Physics learning is often faced with difficulties in understanding concepts that are difficult for students. Innovation in physics learning through local wisdom is a solution to make learning more relevant and interesting. This research aims to explore physics concepts in Toraja Pa'gellu dance using Guided Inquiry model. The qualitative research method was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 North Toraja with the subject of class XII IPA students. Data were collected through exploration sheets and analysed by data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed an increase in students' ability to explore physics concepts in Pa'gellu dance after using the Guided Inquiry learning model. The physics concepts identified include speed, acceleration, force, moment of force, and other physical variables. Exploration of physics concepts in the local wisdom of Toraja Pa'gellu dance has a positive impact on students' understanding of physics concepts.

Abstract

North Sulawesi is in a complex tectonic interaction which is the relative movement of three Eurasian macro plates, the Pacific plate, the Philippine plate, and the Maluku Sea microplate. The active tectonic movement results in high earthquake activity in the region of North Sulawesi and its surroundings. This results in the importance of accurate earthquake parameter information, one of which is by conducting research on local wave velocity. The purpose of this study is to determine the velocity of 1D P waves and relocate the earthquake hypocenter and determine the correction stations in North Sulawesi and surrounding areas with coordinate boundaries 0.17166°S- 2.742781°N and 119.5212°E- 125.5067°E using the Couple Velocity-Hypocenter method with Velest software. The results of simultaneous inversion processing are carried out until the 50th iteration which obtains the wave velocity fluctuates at several depths but in general, the denser layers of the earth's compilers will increase the wave velocity, the improvement of the RMS from an average of 1.71 to 0.49 and the correction of the stations obtained is at intervals of 0.39 to 20.91.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the PhET (Physics Education Technology) Simulation model of Problem Based Learning on the process and student learning outcomes in the Parabolic Motion material of Class X IPA of SMA Negeri 1 Remboken. This study was an experimental study with a population of Grade X students of Natural Sciences at SMA Negeri 1 Remboken, and a sample of 25 students was taken, with a pre-experimental one-groub pretest- posttest design. Data were analyzed from the results of the posttest, as well as from the assessment of science process skills and affective assessment criteria both 66% -79% and very good 80% - 100%. In the hypothesis test obtained tcount> ttable then H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, meaning the average student learning outcomes using the Problem Based Learning model assisted by PhET simulation media is greater than the KKM. Based on the data obtained an average posttest score of 80.24 while the KKM determined from the school is 75. So it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model, assisted by PhET (Physics Education Technology) simulation media is effective on the process and learning outcomes of student physics.

Abstract

In analyzing the risk of an earthquake it is necessary to have parameters used, one of which is the maximum ground acceleration or Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA). Some data is not fully available on the accelerometer network. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to select an appropriate GMPE equation to estimate the PGA size in Manado City. The selection of the GMPE equation in this study considers the relative difference value and the correlation coefficient in the GMPE equation. Based on these results, the formulation of Kanno, et al. (2006) was chosen to be the initial GMPE equation in the Manado City area. The equation is modified to get an equation with new coefficients. From the results of this equation, it can be determined that the city of Manado often experiences any type of earthquake and also gets the mitigation that needs to be applied.

Abstract

Ranolewo, located in the Toraget Village, North Langowan District, North Sulawesi, is recognized for its geothermal manifestation in the form of hot springs, indicating the area's geothermal potential. The aim of this study is to characterize the fluid type of the hot spring manifestation in Ranolewo using geochemical methods. The findings reveal a temperature of 52°C at the manifestation site, with a pH level of 5.6, indicating acidic properties. The fluid type identified in the Ranolewo hot spring area is sulfate water. This is attributed to chemical analysis results showing sulfate as the dominant element, along with the presence of SO4 gas. Sulfate water typically forms at shallow depths due to the condensation of geothermal gases nearing the surface. Geothermal gases, comprising air and carbon, are generally dissolved within fluid content in deeper zones but separated from chloride water. Sulfate water is commonly found at the boundary area, not far from the main upflow zone.

Abstract

The stability of the atmosphere can affect the weather conditions in an area. This study aims to compare atmospheric stability carried out in Lake Linow which has two surfaces, namely the surface of geothermal manifestation and the surface without geothermal manifestation. In determining the stability of the atmosphere, researchers use the Richardson number method. To determine atmospheric stability using the Richardson number, data on wind speed and temperature at each altitude are needed. The measured height is 2 meters and 4 meters from the surface. The results of this study show that on the surface geothermal manifestations have unstable atmospheric stability with Richardson numbers -1.4729 to -0.1420, while on the surface without geothermal manifestations have 3 states of atmospheric stability, namely: stable, neutral, and unstable, with Richardson numbers -1.1316 to 0.9808. Therefore, it can be concluded that the state of the atmosphere on the surface of geothermal manifestations is more unstable, compared to surfaces without geothermal manifestations.

Abstract

To meet future energy needs, the Indonesian government has developed alternative energy sources: geothermal energy. Rano Raindang is one of the areas with a geothermal field due to several geothermal manifestations, such as hot springs. This study aims to examine the fluid type, the reservoir temperature estimation, and the functional group of hot springs. The method used is a geoindicator of Na, K, Mg, Cl, SO4, and HCO3, combining spectrophotometry and FTIR spectroscopy. Research results show that the type of hot spring fluid around Rano Raindang with geoindicators Na, K, Mg is immature waters, this is because the type of hot spring fluid around Rano Raindang has undergone a mixing process, while the geoindicators Cl, SO4, HCO3 are bicarbonate (HCO3) types. This corresponds to the results of measurements using FTIR spectroscopy. The estimated reservoir temperature in the area is 193.66 °C and is included in the medium-temperature geothermal system, as the temperature around Rano Raindang is between 125–225 °C. The functional group of hot spring molecules around Rano Raindang has functional groups C=O and O-H.

Abstract

In recent years, attention to renewable energy has increased, especially in electrical energy. One of the emerging technologies in supporting electrical energy storage is supercapacitors. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of KOH solution on the current and voltage characteristics produced by supercapacitor electrodes made from activated carbon from kepok banana peel waste (Musa Paradisiaca L). By using dehydration method 80°C, carbonization at 400°C, chemical activation with 5M, 6M, and 7M KOH solution, and physical activation at 750°C. The results showed that the concentration of KOH activator from 5M, 6M, to 7M increased the electric voltage to 0.641 V, 1.078 V, and 1.448 V and electric current to 10.3 mA, 11.6 mA, and 28.5 mA, respectively. Abstract

This study aims to determine the Effect of Quizizz Media in physics learning on student learning outcomes in Momentum and Impulse material. The research method used in this study is quasi-experimental with Nonequivalent Control Group Design, namely research conducted in two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. Research data were collected using test instruments in the form of essay test questions and data analysis techniques in the form of normality tests, homogeneity and hypothesis tests. The results of the study showed that; 1) From the results of the Quizizz learning media application process, there was a difference between the pretest and posttest scores where the posttest score was better, meaning that there was an increase after being treated; 2) A significant difference between the average posttest results of the experimental and control classes, the learning outcomes of students in the experimental class using Quizizz media obtained an average final test (posttest) of 83.87, while the control class using conventional methods obtained an average posttest of 65.96. Based on the average posttest results, learning using Quizizz media in its learning process has better results. Then a statistical analysis was carried out in the form of a t-test analysis (Independent sample t-test) obtained a sig. value (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05 so that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Quizizz learning media has an effect on improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The energy crisis is one of the major challenges facing the world today, triggered by over-reliance on fossil energy sources, rapid population growth, and the threat of climate change. One technology that attracts attention is supercapacitors. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of carbon activation using KOH with varying concentrations on electrical conductivity as a supercapacitor electrode. By using dehydration method, carbonization at 500℃. The chemical activation process is treated with variations in KOH concentration of 6M, 7M, 8M with physical activation in a furnace at 750℃. The test results of conductivity and density values show that the comparison with the increase in KOH concentration results in an increase in conductivity of 0.1012 S/m, 0.1694 S/m, and 0.3282 S/m.
