Abstract

Digital visualization of mathematical concepts makes it difficult for students to learn and this results in a lack of understanding and participation of students. This study aims to analyze the needs of developing worksheets in flat analytical geometry courses for students of the mathematics education study program. The method used is qualitative research. On the worksheet there is an exploration of three-dimensional shapes on flat analytical geometry, practice questions created using the features available on GeoGebra. Data is collected through written tests and interviews with course lecturer students. The data is then analyzed descriptively quantitatively to determine student knowledge related to the material contained in GAD. From the results of the analysis, it was obtained that students had low scores on knowledge In addition, the results of interviews with lecturers who teach GAD courses also showed difficulty in conveying an understanding of 3D images. For this reason, digital worksheets that can help students to visualize the two- and three-dimensional builds in the GAD course are very necessary.

Abstract

Mathematics and technology will continue to work together to form a system because in building the system requires the application of mathematics. The contribution of mathematics is included in a very large scale in the intervention of technological development in the world. Mathematics itself is related to computers or IT in terms of finding rational logical equations so that they can be translated into computers using programming languages and the relationship in carrying out rational mathematical calculations quickly and accurately. Thus in learning mathematics, the role of technology is needed, some of which function as tools for doing mathematical calculations, creating interesting mathematical learning designs for students, and as a medium for teaching and learning mathematics. One of the uses of technology in learning mathematics is the creation of learning media based on augmented reality technology. In learning, Augmented Reality technology functions as a learning medium that can display virtual objects into the real world. Learning media is very much needed by teachers to help deliver material in a learning process. The purpose of this study is to produce mathematics learning media using android-based augmented reality technology so that students can visualize mathematics learning easily using interactive media. Learning media is developed referring to the ADDIE development model, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The data needed in this study will be collected through classroom observations, questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. The media that has been developed will be tested to assess its feasibility and the media is said to be valid if the test results are in the good/feasible category.

This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. This research was conducted in class XI IPA at SMA Karuna Dipa Palu in the 2023/2024 academic year with one student each with high, medium and low mathematics abilities. Data collection techniques use written assignments and interviews. This research uses two instruments, namely the main instrument, namely the researcher himself, and supporting instruments, namely written assignment sheets and interview guidelines. Data analysis is carried out through data condensation, data presentation, drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that: (1) The metacognition of students with high mathematical abilities in solving problems by Polya fulfills all indicators of understanding the problem well even without writing down what is known and asked, planning problem solving, implementing the problem solving plan, and checking the results of problem solving again with Good; (2) the metacognition of students with moderate mathematical abilities in solving problems by Polya meets the indicators very satisfactorily, written in detail; (3) the metacognition of students with low mathematical abilities in solving problems by Polya is not good enough in all indicators of understanding the problem, planning problem solving, carrying out problem solving, and checking the results of problem solving.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to obtain a description of the mathematical communication ability profile of MAN SIGI students in solving sathematical problems in view of visual learning style. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research were students of class XII IPA 1 MAN SIGI who had a visual learning style. Characteristics of the visual learning style are the ability to remember information seen and prefer reading to listening to other people's explanations. Determining the subject in this research, prospective researchers gave a learning style questionnaire consisting of 10 questions, and each question had 3 choices: a, b, c. If a student most dominantly chose a, then the student had a visual learning style; if a student most dominantly chose b, then the student has an auditory learning style; if a student chooses a lot of c's, then the student has a kinesthetic learning style. Based on the results of the questionnaire, 1 student was selected with a visual learning style. If there were several students who had a visual learning style, the researcher discussed with the study teacher about students who had good communication skills and students who received information easily. Data was collected through written tests and interviews. The results of this research showed that the subjects with a visual learning style are able to write down and explain well all the information obtained from the questions.

Abstract

This study is a descriptive study that uses qualitative approach aims to analyze students’ concept understanding on the quadratic equation material at GPID Sumbersari Christian Junior High School in terms of field independent cognitive style. Subjects in this study consisted of 3 students cognitive style field independent. The instruments in this study are GEFT test, concept understanding questions, and interview guidelines. Research results showed: the understanding of the three subjects of field independent cognitive style have not been able to state the concept of quadratic equation correctly. In giving examples and not examples of equations, subject 1 has not been able to examples and not examples correctly while subject 2 and subject 3 were able to give axamples and not examples of quadratic equations. Subject 3 were able to give examples and non-examples of quadratic equations well. Subject 1 and subject 3 have not been able to present the equation into mathematical representations correctly, while subject 2 was able to present the quadratic equation in the form of mathematical representations well. In using procedures or operations, subject 2 was able to use procedures well while subject 1 and subject 3 were not able to use procedures well. In linking concepts, the three subjects were still not able to relate concepts well. In this case the field independent cognitive style students do not fulfill all indicators of concept understanding so that students’ understanding in understanding the concept of quadratic equations is still low.

Abstract

Based on the results of observations conducted by researchers on students of class IX SMP Negeri 14 Palu, namely working on practice questions related to exponents and there were several problems found, namely 1). Not all students understand the material on exponents 2). there are errors in solving the questions, namely in the exponent section. 3). some students can solve the questions until the middle, and 4). no students are able to finish. This study aims to analyze the errors of class IX students of SMP Negeri 14 Palu in solving exponent number problems. This type of research is descriptive research. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. The sample in this study was class IX Kihajar students of SMP Negeri 14 Palu consisting of 37 students, then given a test consisting of 5 questions on exponent number material and then 1 male and female student were selected who made the most mistakes. The results of this study indicate that the errors made by male students in solving exponent number problems are: (1) conceptual errors, namely students' errors in interpreting exponents. (2) principle error, students do not follow the steps that should be written in solving the problem. (3) Arithmetic operation error, students write the wrong answer from the multiplication result. (4) Fact error, namely students make mistakes in using operation symbols. The results of this study indicate that the mistakes made by female students in solving exponent number problems are: (1) Concept error, namely students' mistakes in interpreting the concept of exponents. (2) principle error, students do not write complete steps when solving the problem. (3) Arithmetic operation error, students make mistakes when subtracting, so that it has an impact on the final result. (4) Fact error, namely students make mistakes in using number operation symbols.
