Abstract

The house renovation program is one of the community empowerment efforts that aims to improve the welfare of underprivileged families through proper housing repairs. BAZNAS Trenggalek plays an active role in this program by providing assistance and mentoring to beneficiaries. This research uses a community service method with a participatory approach, where the mentoring process is carried out in a structured manner, starting from the stages of needs identification, planning, implementation, to program evaluation. The results of the service show that community involvement in the house renovation process not only improves the quality of housing, but also strengthens collective awareness and independence in maintaining and improving their living conditions. In addition, this program provides positive social and economic impacts for beneficiaries. Thus, the assistance provided by BAZNAS Trenggalek contributes significantly to creating sustainable social change in the community

Abstract

Digital transformation has significantly reshaped Islamic philanthropy practices, particularly in the realm of charity (sadaqah). This article explores online giving as a form of multidimensional altruism that encompasses spiritual, social, economic, and psychological dimensions. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach through content analysis and literature review, this study examines the role of social media, Muslim influencers, and digital platforms such as Kitabisa.com in shaping the culture of charitable giving among digital Muslim communities. The findings reveal that online charity serves not only as an efficient tool for wealth distribution but also as a contemporary medium for expressing practical spirituality and fostering new forms of cross-boundary social solidarity. However, the transformation also brings ethical and spiritual challenges, particularly concerning intention and authenticity of giving in automated or publicly exposed systems. This article advocates for a reflective approach to the design of Islamic philanthropic technologies to ensure that they remain spiritually meaningful as well as functionally effective.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of blockchain technology and digital cryptocurrency assets has generated significant debate within Islamic finance, particularly regarding their compliance with the objectives of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah. This study critically examines the role of blockchain technology in the protection of wealth (ḥifẓ al-māl) within digital cryptocurrency assets using a maqāṣid-oriented analytical framework. Employing a qualitative normative–conceptual approach grounded in Jasser Auda’s systems theory of maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah, the study analyzes how core blockchain characteristics transparency, cryptographic security, immutability, and distributed ledger architecture contribute to wealth protection while also identifying inherent risks and limitations. The findings indicate that blockchain can support ḥifẓ al-māl by enhancing transaction accountability, safeguarding ownership, and mitigating fraud. However, such contributions are neither inherent nor unconditional, as they depend on governance structures, regulatory alignment, and ethical usage frameworks. The study further distinguishes between blockchain as a neutral technological infrastructure and cryptocurrency as a financial instrument that may generate Shariah concerns due to volatility, gharar, and speculative excess. By articulating this distinction, the research advances a more proportionate and critically grounded maqāṣid-based assessment of blockchain, contributing to contemporary discourse on Islamic digital finance and offering a conceptual foundation for future regulatory and technological development.
