Abstract

Red chili is one of the horticultural commodities that are needed by the community. However, the productivity of red chili in Aceh Utara is still low at 6.19 tons/ha. This study aims to analyze the factors that affect the production of red chili and analyze the economic efficiency of red chili farming in Sawang Sub-District, Aceh Utara. This research is located in Aceh Utara, precisely in Sawang Sub-District. The sampling method was carried out by census, namely as many as 40 red chili farmers. This study uses a data analysis method, namely the Cobb-Douglas function model with a Stochastic frontier approach. The results of the analysis show that the production factors that affect the production of red chili in Sawang District are land area, labor, and fertilizer, while the seed and pesticide production factors did not affect the red chili production. The results of the study also explained that red chili farming in the research location was technically efficient (ET=0.796), but did not achieve allocative and economical efficiency with the respective averages (EA = 0.439 and EE = 0.351).

Abstract

One of the vegetable crops that have high economic value and is always needed is red chili. Red chili farming in Sawang District is an activity of farmer households in obtaining income to meet household consumption needs in the form of food and non-food. The ability of farmers to obtain income that is used for household consumption will determine the level of welfare of red chili farmers' households. The purpose of this study was to analyze the household income and expenditure of red chili farmers in Sawang District, North Aceh Regency with a total sample of 40 families. Data were analyzed by quantitative descriptive method. The results showed that the household income of farmers came from agricultural and non-agricultural income with the total income of all respondents amounting to 62,523,981.25 IDR /production process or 10,420,663.54 IDR/month. The income is used to meet food and non-food needs in the amount of 3,579,227 IDR/month. Meanwhile, the welfare level of farmer households is low based on the income structure and expenditure structure.

Abstract

Access to asset ownership is very urgent because it relates to the ease of a person in living his life. The availability of living assets is directly related to the ability of each individual to achieve a more decent life outcome. These living assets are generally categorized into five types, namely human, cultural, financial, social and physical assets. This research was conducted in Jangka District, Bireuen Regency. The number of samples in this study were 100 fishermen. The sampling method used the Accidental Sampling technique, which is the technique of determining the sample by chance. This study uses primary data obtained through a survey using a questionnaire and secondary data. This data was then analyzed qualitatively descriptively. The results of the study found that most of the fishermen were of productive age, had secondary education, quite experienced, used my own financial sources, access to credit was still difficult, had great motivation to improve their standard of living, and the influence of the traditional panglima laot institution was still strong. The main source of capital for the fishermen is borrowing from the owner, cooperatives and only a few have their own capital. But most fishermen have savings, and they save money in the banks, social gatherings, cooperatives and at home, and this is done to save for their lives in the future. Based on physical assets, most fishermen have nets as fishing tools, many use 5-10 GT and 10-20 GT motorboats as fishing boats. Ownership status of fishing boats most fishermen use jointly by riding and renting. From social assets, most fishermen join fishermen's organizations or groups, and a small number of fishermen have positions in the community. The family relationship between them is also close.
