Abstract

This research aimed to know the elements in the folklore of Maybrat Regency and value of character education contained in the folklore of Maybrat Regency. The data obtained in this study were three stories from Maybrat Regency which were obtained through the results of interviews with informants who came and were in Maybrat Regency. The research method used is descriptive research method with procedures: conducted interviews, record the interview process, rewrite the results of interviews in this case folklore, analyzed elements in folklore, and analyzing the value of character education in folklore. The results in this research include three stories of Maybrat Regency entitled: (1) The origin of Arus Village, (2) The Origin of Way Clan, and (3) the Origin of Howay Clan. Here the result of analyze elements: (1) the theme of love and hard work, (2) the location of the story in the Maybrat Regency, (3) the characters that appear in family life (husband, wife, siblings, and a group of village people) their life character respects one another, (4) contains a degeneration plot, and (5) contains a positive message to work hard and maintain harmony in life. Furthermore, the value of character education is also contained in this story, namely: discipline, hard work, independence, caring for the environment, responsibility, tolerance and caring for others.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see the improvement of English speaking ability of students at SMP YPK Syaloom Klademak Sorong City.Sample in this research centered on class VIIB. While the research instrument is serial picture media that is inserted into the learning device and used as a guide in learning. Therefore, an effective learning media is needed, namely serial picture media to hone the mindset and encourage students at SMP YPK Syaloom Klademak Sorong City to enrich vocabulary so that they can communicate using English fluently. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) and uses the research model of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart is made into two cycles in which each cycle the researcher uses planning, action, observation and reflection. Thus the form taken is to look at pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Based on the research that has been done, it can be obtained that the research results have significant changes in the application of this learning media is 31% where the results of the implementation of serial picture media in the first cycle are categorized as good is 44% and the second cycle which is categorized as good is 75%. Thus students have the opportunity to improve their own quality, especially in increasing the ability to speak English with the learning media used by the teacher in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Sekolah Minggu adalah bentuk kelompok pelayanan dalam gereja yang perlu mendapat perhatian serius dari para pekerja gereja. Sekolah Minggu sebagai salah satu jenis pendidikan non formal memuat anggota gereja yang masih muda dan perlu diberi bekal pendidikan Alkitabiah dan pendasaran iman yang sesuai dengan ajaran gereja. Pengajaran ini perlu dilakukan oleh Guru Sekolah Minggu (GSM) yang memiliki bekal pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang cukup dalam melaksanakan panggilan pengajarannya yang tidak hanya berfokus pada aktifitas ceramah, cerita dan diskusi pada setiap pengajarannya. Melainkan perlu adanya penerapan model pembelajaran yang aktif dan inovatif agar tidak terkesan monoton berupa Project Based Learning (PjBL) yang diberikan dalam suatu pelatihan kompetensi GSM dalam mengajar. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan pelatihan ini agar menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang mendorong anak lebih bisa berkolaborasi aktif, kreatif, dan inovatif dalam pembelajaran dikelas, berpikir kritis serta empati dengan sesama. Metode PjBL ini diajarkan dalam sebuah pendekatan kontekstual yang berbasis kearifan lokal sehingga bisa memperkaya wawasan berpikir terkait pengetahuan local wisdom sebagai bahan edukasi sekaligus melestarikan kearifan lokal masyarakat secara khusus di Tanah Papua. Tahapan yang dilalui dalam kegiatan pelatihan berupa, Observasi terhadap kondisi mitra, pelaksanaan pelatihan dengan berbagi materi Guru Sekolah Minggu Cerdas Berkarakter, Project Based Learning berbasis Kearifan Lokal, serta Diskusi Proyek Pengajaran yang dilakukan pada Anak Sekolah Minggu (ASM) dan Pembuatan Proyek Kearifan Lokal. Kegiatan pelatihan penerapan PjBL ini telah berjalan dengan baik dan mendapatkan perhatian khusus dari GSM dan Badan Pelayan GSM sendiri dalam menciptakan suasana baru untuk mendukung sebuah proses pembelajaran yang produktif, kreatif dan inovatif yang mana memberikan dampak positif kepada ASM dalam rangka pengembangan sumber daya manusia yang berkarakter. Kata Kunci: Pelatihan Kompetensi, Guru Sekolah Minggu, Project Based Learning, Kearifan Lokal  ABSTRACT Sunday School is a form of service group in the church that needs serious attention from church workers. Sunday School as a type of non-formal education includes young church members who need to be provided with Biblical education and basic faith that is by church teachings. This teaching needs to be carried out by Sunday School Teachers (GSM) who have sufficient knowledge and skills to carry out their teaching vocation which does not only focus on lecture activities, stories and discussions in each teaching. However, it is necessary to apply an active and innovative learning model so that it does not seem monotonous in the form of Project Based Learning (PjBL) given in a GSM competency training in teaching. The main aim of this training activity is to create a learning atmosphere that encourages children to collaborate more actively, creatively and innovatively in classroom learning, think critically and empathize with others. The PjBL method is taught in a contextual approach based on local wisdom so that it can enrich thinking insight related to local wisdom knowledge as educational material while preserving the wisdom of local communities specifically in the Land of Papua. The stages undertaken in the training activities include, Observation of partners' conditions, implementation of training by sharing materials for Smart Sunday School Teachers with Character, Project Based Learning based on Local Wisdom, as well as Discussion of Teaching Projects carried out on Sunday School Children (ASM) and Creation of Local Wisdom Projects. This PjBL implementation training activity has gone well and received special attention from GSM and the GSM Service Agency itself in creating a new atmosphere to support a productive, creative and innovative learning process that has a positive impact on ASM in the context of developing human resources with character. Keywords: Competency Training, Sunday School Teachers, Project Based Learning, Local Wisdom

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kasulitan siswa dalam memahami bacaan di kelas Sembilan H (IX-H) SMP Negeri 4 Kota Sorong. Untuk menunjukkan bagaimana kesulitan pemahaman membaca siswa terjadi. Untuk mengetahui mengapa kesulitan dalam pemahaman membaca terjadi pada mereka. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru bahasa inggris kelas Sembilan dan secara khusus siswa kelas Sembilan H (IX-H) SMP Negeri 4 Kota Sorong yang berjumlah 25 siswa. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah descriptive qualitative dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, tes dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan verifikasi data. Berdasarkan hasil tes yang telah dilakukan, nilai siswa masih rendah dibawah nilai standar yang ditetapkan oleh sekolah yaitu nilai standar 75 dan dari hasil klasifikasi kesulitan pemehaman membaca siswa menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan siswa dalam menentukan ide pokok adalah 14%, mencari referensi sebesar 10%, memahami kosa kata bahasa inggris 18%, membuat kesimpulan 12%, dan informasi detail 47%. Dengan demikian, masih terdapat kesulitan bagi siswa dalam pemahaman membaca teks Bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan wawancara yang diberikan pada 25 orang siswa, hal ini juga didukung dengan faktor internal siswa yang mana masih kurang tertarik dalam belajar bahasa inggris, masih malas dalam belajar bahasa inggris, faktor eksternal berupa teknik mengajar guru yang belum maksimal memunculkan ketertarikan siswa dalam belajar serta dorongan orang tua bagi siswa dalam belajar bahasa inggris.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to identify and obtain information about, changes in student learning characteristics in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, using online distance learning systems. The research uses action research procedures in the form of cycles consisting of four stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection, while the method used is analytical descriptive method, describing the phenomenon of change occur factually, then analyze the phenomenon of change. Respondents for this study were lecturers and students at four universities in Sorong City, with data collection duration of less than 1 month. The results of this research are, there are changes in the character of learning, experienced by students when doing distance learning online, namely mastery of technology is still lacking, the addition of internet quota fees. There is a change in the character of learning experienced by students namely, Intensional changes, positive-active changes, and effective-functional changes.
