Abstract

Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the chronic diseases that every year the number of sufferers is increasing in various parts of the world. The common knowledge of diabetics regarding their disease causes them to be unable to properly carry out self-care, so their blood sugar levels are not controlled. Diabetes is also one of the comorbidities that cause death in Covid-19 patients. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) in improving the self-efficacy of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in the work area of the Langsa Kota Health Center. The method used quasi-experiment and design was pre-test and post-test with a control group design, with 25 respondents for each group. The study was conducted from June 7 August 7, 2021, in the working area of the Langsa Kota Health Center. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires, the implementation of comprehensive education, measurement of blood sugar levels, and taking into account research ethics. The results of the writing were obtained by the majority of female respondents in the early adult age category, the majority of whom had diabetes over 10 years old. The paired t-test found significant differences in the intervention group after receiving DSME education compared to the control group. Education was conducted intensively in the intervention group, which discussed knowledge of DM, diet, physical exercise, and stress management. It is hoped that puskesmas can adopt DSME as a reference in educating the public, especially people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Keywords: Diabetes Self Management Education, Self Efficacy, DSME

Regular exercise such as elderly gymnastics is highly recommended to prevent the elderly from getting chronic diseases such as hypertension. Purpose:  To determine the effect of elderly gymnastics on reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers at Puskesmas Karang Baru Aceh Tamiang. Methods: The study showed that there was a difference in the average measurement of systolic blood pressure, namely that the average blood pressure after doing elderly gymnastics was lower than those who did not do elderly gymnastics with the p value in both groups being the same, namely 0.031 (p <0.05). Results: The study showed that there was a difference in the average measurement of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, namely that the average blood pressure after doing elderly gymnastics was lower than those who did not do elderly gymnastics with a p value of 0.031 (p <0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant difference in the decrease in blood pressure in the elderly who do elderly gymnastics and those who do not. Elderly gymnastics that is done regularly has a positive impact, namely it can reduce blood pressure in the elderly who have hypertension.

Abstract

If diabetes mellitus sufferers are not treated properly, it will result in various serious complications, including damage to the nervous system, apart from that, there are also complications that can cause numbness in the soles of the feet, called peripheral neuropathy, which can cause a decrease in foot sensitivity which can result in ulcers. The aim of training on foot acupressure for diabetes mellitus families is to increase the knowledge, skills and ability of families to care for family members independently towards increased sensitivity of the feet of diabetic sufferers. Participants in this activity were 30 families of diabetes mellitus sufferers in the Sungai Iyu Aceh Tamiang Health Center working area. This community service method is first a pre-test before conducting counseling, acupressure training and a post-test. The results obtained were an increase in knowledge, namely before the counseling the majority of participants' knowledge was 18 people (60%) after the counseling the majority became good 26 people (86.7%), as well as the ability to do acupressure from not knowing at all to being able by 19 people ( 63.3%) Routine training is needed for families of diabetes mellitus sufferers so that they can do it independently to prevent diabetic foot complications so as to increase foot sensitivity and reduce dependence on the use of pharmacological therapy

Abstract

Introduction: According to Indonesia's Global Burden Cancer (GLOBOCAN) in 2020, breast cancer accounted for the highest incidence among cancer cases, contributing to 16.6% of the total cases and causing 9.6% of deaths. In 2021, South Jakarta recorded the highest incidence of breast cancer within DKI Jakarta, with 172 cases out of 299. Objective: This study aims to identify the dominant factors influencing the occurrence of breast cancer. Methods: Employing explanatory research, the study involved 112 respondents selected through accidental sampling. Logistic regression analysis was employed for multivariate analysis. Results: The findings revealed three variables with significance levels (Sig.) less than 0.05: age at first menstruation (Sig.=0.005), age at first pregnancy (Sig.<0.001), and smoking history (Sig.=0.018). Exp (B) results indicated that the age of first pregnancy has the greatest impact, with a likelihood 8.6 times higher. Conclusion: Consequently, the study concludes that the age of the woman during the first pregnancy emerges as the most dominant factor influencing breast cancer, pointing to the critical period of estrogen exposure. This study underscores the importance of understanding and addressing these factors in breast cancer prevention and intervention strategies, providing valuable insights for public health initiatives.
