Abstract

This study aims to analyze the alignment of the Arabic language instructional materials for eighth-grade students at Darussalam Islamic Junior High School Pasaman Barat with the curriculum standards outlined in the Decrees of the Minister of Religious Affairs No. 183 and 184 of 2019. These decrees serve as the primary guidelines for implementing the Islamic Religious Education and Arabic Language curriculum, emphasizing holistic competencies and higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). The researcher employed a qualitative approach using content analysis methods. The primary data consisted of the Arabic textbook used at the school, while secondary data were drawn from the official KMA documents. The findings reveal that the teaching materials are generally aligned with the thematic content mandated by the decrees. However, several shortcomings were identified, including the lack of explicit integration of spiritual (Core Competency 1) and social (Core Competency 2) aspects, an imbalanced presentation of the four language skills (listening, speaking, and writing in particular), and an overreliance on LOTS (Lower Order Thinking Skills) in assessment tasks. The study recommends revising and enhancing the teaching materials to better meet the curriculum requirements and students’ learning needs in a comprehensive and modern educational context.

Abstract

This study, entitled “The Effect of Using Arabic Pocket Books on Improving Students’ Speaking Skills at MTI Tarusan Kamang Islamic Boarding School”, was conducted to address the low speaking ability and limited vocabulary of students as well as the lack of engaging learning media. The purpose of this research is to examine whether the use of Arabic pocket books significantly improves students’ speaking skills. This research employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental approach using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 26 students from a special class selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through oral pretests and posttests to measure speaking performance before and after the treatment. Analysis was carried out using the Paired Sample t-Test with the assistance of SPSS. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ speaking skills after the use of Arabic pocket books. The t-test results showed that the t-count exceeded the t-table at the 5% significance level (23.57692 > 2.0595), leading to the rejection of Ho and acceptance of Ha. Thus, the use of Arabic pocket books is proven to be an effective and practical learning medium to enhance students’ speaking skill Keywords: Pocket Book, Learning Media, Speaking Skill

Abstract

Belajar bahasa Arab mencakup empat keterampilan bahasa, salah satunya adalah menulis, yang dianggap sebagai keterampilan tertinggi karena membutuhkan keterampilan berpikir, mengatur ide, dan menguasai keterampilan bahasa sebelumnya. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sarana pendidikan yang inovatif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh penggunaan Canva terhadap keterampilan menulis bahasa Arab siswa kelas VIII di Institut Ilmu Syariah Sindong. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain semi-eksperimental, yang mencakup dua kelas yang masing-masing terdiri dari 20 siswa, yaitu kelas eksperimental dan kelas kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pra-tes dan pasca-tes, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji sifat, homogenitas, dan hipotesis. Hasil uji (t) menunjukkan adanya perbedaan hasil pembelajaran antara kelas yang menggunakan Canva dan kelas yang menggunakan metode tradisional. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan Canva berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan keterampilan menulis dalam bahasa Arab pada siswa.
