Abstract

Background: Emergency conditions necessitate prompt and appropriate management to mitigate the risks of disability and mortality. A fundamental component of emergency care is triage, which serves to prioritise patient treatment based on the severity of their condition and guide the necessary clinical interventions. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of peer-led health education supported by audio-visual media in improving students’ comprehension of emergency triage procedures. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was implemented. The research population comprised second-semester nursing students from STIKES Hutama Abdi Husada Tulungagung. A purposive sampling method was used to select 41 participants. The educational intervention was delivered through peer-led sessions and supplemented with audio-visual media. Data were gathered using a validated structured questionnaire and analysed employing the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Analysis using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test yielded a statistically significant result (p = 0.000) in both intervention groups, demonstrating that the health education provided had a meaningful impact on students’ understanding of emergency triage. Furthermore, the Mann-Whitney U test indicated a mean rank of 35.43 for participants in the peer education group and 47.57 for those in the audio-visual group, with a significance level of p = 0.019. Conclusion: The findings confirm that both peer-led and audio-visual-based health education methods are effective in increasing nursing students’ knowledge of emergency triage. Nevertheless, the audio-visual approach demonstrated superior outcomes and is, therefore, recommended as the preferred strategy for enhancing triage competency in educational settings.

Abstract

Introduction: Delays and errors in providing first aid to victims experiencing syncope can significantly increase the risk of complications and even mortality. Syncope requires immediate, appropriate intervention, making first aid skills essential for students. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of the roleplay method and the audiovisual method in improving students’ skills in providing first aid for syncope. Method: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent group posttest-only approach. The population consisted of all 442 students in Class X at SMAN 1 Kedungwaru, Tulungagung, Indonesia. Using purposive sampling with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, 71 students were recruited. Participants were divided into two groups: the roleplay group (n = 35, Class X-1) and the audiovisual group (n = 36, Class X-2). The independent variable was the health education method, while the dependent variable was the level of syncope first aid skills. Data were collected using an observation checklist, with a Content Validity Index (CVI) of 0.86, confirming its validity. Data analysis was performed using the Mann–Whitney U test. Results: The demographic characteristics showed comparable distributions between groups. In the roleplay group, 49% (n = 17) of students demonstrated good skills, whereas in the audiovisual group, the majority 47% (n = 17) achieved only moderate skill levels. The Mann–Whitney test yielded a p-value of 0.001 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the two methods. Conclusion: Roleplay is more effective than audiovisual because respondents have the opportunity to practice directly so they learn and see more clearly.

Abstract

Introduction: Working conditions are a set of conditions for a company to work as employees in the environment. In this era of globalization the problems that often arise in the work environment include limited human resources, the number of nurses with patients who are not balanced or vice versa. Conditions like this that will have an impact on the psychological state of the nurse such as fatigue, emotion, boredom, mood swings and can lead to stress nurse work. Stress is a pressure or tension that is felt to endanger a person's physical and psychological well-being. The bad impact can interfere with social interaction, both with colleagues, doctors and patients, so it can reduce work motivation which will affect the performance of nurses. The purpose of the study was to analyze the relationship between the working conditions of nurses and work stress in the hospitalMethod: This type of observational research, analytic design with cross sectional approach and data collection in this study using questionnaire instruments and observation sheets. The population of the study were all nurses implementing at ORPEHA Islamic General Hospital Tulungagung. Samples were taken with a quota sampling technique of 30 people. Data were analyzed by spearman rho test. Results:  The result of this research is almost all of respondents stated that the condition of fun is about 27 people (90%) and almost all of the respondents do not experience stress, that is 26 people (86,7%). Spearman rho statistical test obtained P Value = 0.003 <0.05 so H0 is not accepted H1 accepted, which means there is a working relationship with working stress conditions nurses at the Islamic Hospital General ORPEHA Tulungagung 2017.Conclusion: Pleasant working conditions can avoid work stress for nurses. So that nurses can do their jobs optimally.

Abstract

Introduction: a reward system is one of the motivators that managers can use to improve performance, but this is often overlooked. This research was conducted to develop a performance-based reward system model to increase nurse job satisfaction.Method: the design of this study used observational analytic, with a sample of 237 nurses from all nursing service units. Sampling using cluster random sampling. Data were analyzed using partial least square (PLS). Indicator variables namely reward, performance, reward system (intrinsic reward and extrinsic reward) were independent variables while job satisfaction variable was dependent variables. Results:  there is an influence of the reward indicator on intrinsic reward (t = 3.940368> 1.96). There is an effect of reward indicator on extrinsic reward (t = 6.052527> 1.96). There is a performance effect on intrinsic reward (t = 8.504740> 1.96). There is a performance effect on extrinsic reward (t = 7.936353> 1.96). There is an influence of intrinsic reward on nurse job satisfaction (t = 6,257129> 1,96). There is an effect of extrinsic reward on nurse job satisfaction (t = 9,709050> 1,96).Conclusion: the reward system model in this study is influenced by reward and performance indicators. The development of reward system models can affect the job satisfaction of nurses. So that a performance-based reward system needs to be developed to increase nurse job satisfaction.
