Abstract

The economic independence of pesantrens has become a strategic aspect in the development of community-based religious economy in Indonesia. As the next generation, santris play a crucial role in achieving this independence through the mastery of financial literacy and understanding of Islamic banking products. This study aims to evaluate the latest strategies implemented to enhance financial literacy and education on Islamic banking products for santris, as well as their impact on the economic independence of pesantrens. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The findings indicate that a combination of interactive training, mini bank simulations within pesantrens, and the utilization of digital technology effectively improves the knowledge, skills, and financial behavior of santris. Interactive training facilitates the development of critical thinking and financial decision-making skills, mini bank simulations provide practical experience in managing Islamic banking products, and digital technology expands access to information while supporting flexible learning. This holistic approach not only strengthens santris’ financial literacy but also fosters sustainable economic independence for pesantrens, equipping santris with adaptive, ethical, and productive financial competencies.

Abstract

Pesantren, as a religious educational institution, plays a strategic role in shaping the character, economic skills, and financial literacy of santri (Islamic boarding school students). In the digital era, the ability to manage finances based on Sharia principles and digital competencies has become essential for santri to make sound, ethical, and sustainable economic decisions. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of implementing a pesantren mini bank as a competency simulation model to enhance santri’s Sharia financial literacy. A mixed-methods descriptive approach was employed, involving 50 active santri participants. Research instruments included mini bank activity observations, financial literacy questionnaires, and in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that the mini bank significantly improved santri’s financial literacy, with average scores increasing from 62% before the simulation to 85% after the program, while also enhancing digital skills, independence, and financial ethics. Furthermore, this model effectively cultivates responsible, transparent, and competent santri, ready to face modern economic challenges. The study confirms that the pesantren mini bank is an effective educational innovation that integrates theory, practice, and digital technology, and can be replicated in other pesantren to strengthen the economic competencies of young generations

Abstract

Abstract

Fiqh Ibadah learning in higher education is often dominated by theoretical approaches that provide limited hands-on experience for students, resulting in suboptimal learning outcomes and insufficient practical competence in performing religious practices. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of practicum-based learning in improving students’ learning outcomes in the Fiqh Ibadah and Practice course. This research employed a quantitative approach using a classroom action research design conducted in two cycles, involving students of the PGMI Study Program at Institut Islam Al-Mujaddid Sabak as research participants. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, student activity observations, and learning documentation, while data analysis utilized descriptive statistics to measure improvements in mean scores and learning mastery percentages. The findings indicate that the implementation of practicum-based learning gradually improved students’ learning outcomes from the pre-cycle to the second cycle, accompanied by increased learning engagement and student participation during the instructional process. These results demonstrate that practicum-based learning provides more meaningful learning experiences and enhances both conceptual understanding and practical skills. This study contributes to the development of more applicable Fiqh Ibadah instructional strategies and offers practical implications for lecturers in improving the quality of Islamic education in higher education institutions.

Abstract

The culinary industry in the modern era is characterized by hyper-competition, often leading business practitioners to prioritize short-term profitability over ethical considerations, which results in deceptive marketing practices. This study aims to analyze the dialectical relationship between profitability and business morality by examining the marketing strategies of the Pagi Sore eatery in Talang Babat from the perspective of Islamic business ethics. Employing a descriptive-qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, passive participant observation, and documentation studies, subsequently analyzed using an interactive model of data reduction and inductive reasoning. The results demonstrate that the eatery successfully internalizes prophetic values shiddiq (truthfulness), amanah (trustworthiness), fathanah (wisdom), and tabligh (advocacy) into its marketing mix, particularly through halalan thoyyiban product assurance and transparent pricing. Crucially, the findings reveal a "Location Paradox," where the consistent application of Sharia principles serves as a potent moderating variable that neutralizes geographical disadvantages and fosters organic consumer loyalty through integrity-based competitive advantage. This study concludes that Islamic business ethics is not merely a normative religious obligation but a sophisticated strategic asset that ensures long-term business resilience and profitability. By transforming locational challenges into market strengths, this research provides a replicable framework for small-scale enterprises to harmonize ethical integrity with commercial success in a saturated market.

Abstract

Jama’ and qasar prayers are forms of rukhsah (legal concessions) granted in Islamic law to individuals facing specific circumstances, particularly travelers (musafir). However, with the passage of time, the application of this rukhsah has sparked various controversies, especially in light of the high mobility of modern society, advancements in transportation, and evolving concepts of “travel” (safar). This article aims to re-examine the fiqh-based concept of jama’ and qasar prayers in a contemporary context by exploring differences between classical scholars’ interpretations and modern scholars’ responses to new realities. The study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach using library research methods, analyzing classical fiqh sources (from the four major schools) as well as contemporary literature. The findings suggest that while the foundational principles of rukhsah remain relevant, there is a need for renewed ijtihad to contextually define the criteria for safar and emergency conditions so that Islamic law remains adaptable without compromising its normative authority.
