Abstract

Seaweed is one of the leading commodities in Indonesia. National aquaculture production for export focuses on 3 commodities that is shrimp, lobster and seaweed, where the highest aquaculture production is seaweed. The value of aquaculture for seaweed commodities in 2015–2020 increased by 4.9%, while the target of seaweed commodities for export in 2020-2024 has increased by 2,154,000 (tons), where in 2010 the number of export commodities was 10,298,000 (tons) to 12,452,000 (tons) in 2024 (KKP). Southeast Sulawesi ranks 5th as the government's priority location for achieving seaweed production in 2020-2024 after South Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara (KKP, 2021). One of the centers of seaweed production in Southeast Sulawesi is Buton Regency. West Boneatiro Village is located in Kapontori District, Buton Regency which is currently redeveloping the cultivation of seaweed Euchema spinosum which was stopped about 10 years ago because decrease in water quality which causes crop failure. The results of this study are expected to provide information to local fishermen regarding water quality for the suitability of Euchema spinosumseaweed cultivation.

Abstract

Mangroves have important ecological and economic functions for nature and humans.Mangrove forest on the coast of Kolagana is one area that provides various benefits to support life for marine life and local communities. But on the other side, the structure and composition of mangroves have not been identified properly. So it is necessary to overcome the area so that the ecological function of the associated ecosystem around it remains sustainable. This study aims to examine the structure and composition of mangrove species on the coast of Kolagana, Baubau City. The results of the study are expected to provide information to stakeholders regarding the types of mangroves found in the research location. Mangrove forest zoning at the research site is dominated by 2 types of mangroves. Zone adjacent to the seadominated by the species Sonnetaria alba, while the inside part zone is dominated by Rhizophora apiculata.

Abstract

Development of processed cassava commodity products so that it can improve the quality and high selling value when marketed by the community, especially cassava farmers. This effort is one of the strategies in maintaining and realizing food security through cassava diversification. This community service activity is to improve the skills of the community or cassava farmers in managing it into various foods that have high selling values with training. Service activities are carried out in Kaongkeongke Village, Buton Regency. The activity starts with the preparation of the materials and tools used. Next, the process of pounding the cassava becomes smooth to extract the starch which will be used as the basic ingredient for cake dough. After that all the wok is mixed to become a dough and steamed at a temperature of 80 - 100 oC. This training was carried out quite well and many people and cassava farmers attended and were enthusiastic in asking questions, so that the knowledge given in the form of training could be easily accepted by the participants.

Abstract

Rumpon sebagai alat bantu untuk mengumpulkan ikan dengan menggunakan berbagai bentuk dan jenis pemikat atau atraktor dari benda padat yang berfungsi untuk memikat ikan agar dapat berkumpul. Rumpon mulai dipasang oleh nelayan di teluk buton sejak tahun 2005. P Tujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman bagi masyarakat tentang penerapan alat bantu penangkapan rumpon. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat dilaksanakan pada hari senin, 10 Oktober 2023 di Desa Dongkala  Kecamatan Pasarwajo, Kabupaten Buton. Kegiatan ini dihadiri oleh 5 orang ketua kelompok nelayan dan masyarakat yang berhubungan langsung dengan segala aktifitas penangkapan dan berbagai jenis alat tangkap di teluk buton. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah Penggunaan alat bantu penangkapan rumpon sangat berbahaya bagi lingkungan laut apabila tidak diatur sedemikian rupa sehingga perlu adanya pemberian edukasi kepada nelayan tentang keberadaan rumpon untuk membantu memberikan informasi. Melalui pendekatan komunikasi dengan nelayan tentunya akan memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman dalam mengoperasikan alat bantu penangkapan rumpon.

Abstract

The anchialine habitat waters of this study is located at mangrove ecosystem around Koguna Beach area, Buton Island, Indonesia. It is a closed water, isolated from the sea, and inhabited by Parhippolyte uveae red shrimp. The existence of phytoplankton in this habitat can be used to determine the availability of natural food and the water quality of this shrimp’s habitat. This study was conducted to examine the presence of phytoplankton in the anchialine habitat of red shrimp. Phytoplankton samples were obtained by filtering water using Plankton Net. Meanwhile, several biological indexes such as the diversity index, evenness index, and dominance index were used to analyze the phytoplankton community. The result showed that this habitat was dominated by phytoplankton from the classes Bacillariophyceae, Florideophyceae, and Globothalamea with a total of 13 genera in September 2021 and Bacillariophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Dinophyceae, and Globothalamea with a total of 18 genera in December 2021. The most common type of phytoplankton found in the red shrimp habitat during the study was Navicula sp. with a ban of 1436 cells L-1 and 479 cells L-1 in September 2021 and December 2021, respectively. The diversity index of phytoplankton in this habitat was low, meanwhile, the index of evenness and dominance indicated that this habitat was of good quality (evenness index was high and dominance index was low). This study can be used as a basic information for further research on the management control for this species habitat.

Abstract

Kawasan wisata pantai merupakan salah satu destinasi yang menarik bagi wisatawan. Namun, seringkali menghadapi permasalahan sampah yang dapat mengurangi kualitas lingkungan dan daya tarik wisata. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya kolektif yang melibatkan berbagai pihak, termasuk pemerintah, masyarakat lokal, dan wisatawan, untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini secara berkelanjutan. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan sikap kecintaan dan kesadaran terhadap lingkungan khususnya ekosistem laut serta membangun kesadaran tentang dampak sampah plastik terhadap lingkungan dan kesehatan manusia di kawasan wisata pantai Pulau Pendek, Desa Boneatiro, Kabupaten Buton. Pelaksanaan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilaksanakan dengan metode teori dan praktek. Hasil pengabdian ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat penting menjaga kebersihan pantai yang menjadi objek wisata, sehingga dapat menjadi daya tarik wisatawan. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya menjaga kebersihan pantai dan keberlanjutan lingkungan. Partisipasi aktif dari berbagai pihak, termasuk pemerintah desa dan komunitas lokal, menjadi faktor kunci keberhasilan program ini. Berdasarkan hasil pengabdian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan bersih pantai tidak hanya berkontribusi pada pengelolaan sampah tetapi juga mendorong pengembangan pariwisata yang berkelanjutan di wilayah tersebut.

Abstract

Ikan capungan banggai atau lebih dikenal dengan nama Banggai Cardinal Fish (BCF) merupakan ikan endemik yang berasal dari perairan Kepulauan Banggai, Sulawesi Tengah. Namun, penyebarannya telah ditemukan antara lain di perairan Bali, Teluk Ambon, Kendari, Selat Lembah dan perairan Kota Baubau. Permintaan yang tinggi dari kolektor ikan hias air laut menjadikan spesies ini memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi, sehingga spesies ini rentan terhadap eksploitasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena minimnya informasi mengenai spesies endemik Banggai Cardinal Fish yang ditemukan di perairan Kota Baubau. Pengambilan data kelimpahan ikan menggunakan sensus visual yaitu dengan metode Line Intercept Transect (LIT). Panjang transek yang digunakan adalah 50 meter dengan luas jangkauan 2,5 meter ke kiri dan 2,5 meter ke kanan. Pengambilan parameter kualitas perairan juga dilakukan untuk mengetahui kesesuaian habitat Banggai Cardinal Fish di perairan Kota Baubau. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengkaji kelimpahan dan mikrohabitat Banggai Cardinal Fish sebagai informasi awal keberadaan ikan ini di Kota Baubau. Hasil dari pengamatan di 4 stasiun ditemukan total populasi 637 individu/m2, yang mendiami microhabitat yang berbeda-beda pada setiap stasiun antara lain: bulu babi, terumbu karang, lamun dan rumput laut (Sargassum sp.). Banggai Cardinal Fish yang diintroduksi mampu beradaptasi dengan lingkungan perairan yang baru. Keberadaan ikan ini terkhususnya di perairan Kota Baubau diharapkan dapat memberikan jasa ekosistem dengan tetap memperhatikan fungsi ekologisnya.

Abstract

ABSTRAKIkan capungan banggai asalnya hanya ditemukan di perairan sekitar Kepulauan banggai Sulawesi Tengah, namun saat ini telah menyebar ke berbagai wilayah termasuk perairan Kota Baubau Sulawesi Tenggara. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji distribusi ukuran, pola pertumbuhan dan faktor kondisinya di perairan pesisir Kota Baubau yang merupakan habitat baru. Sampel ikan dikumpulkan dengan metode jelajah sepanjang perairan dimana ikan tersebut tersebar, diukur panjang totalnya, dan ditimbang beratnya. Panjang total ikan yang didapatkan berkisar antara 38,40-83,50 mm dan berat berkisar antara 0,64-8,17 gram. Kelas ukuran ikan yang didapatkan cukup bervariasi dan berada dalam fase juvenil hingga dewasa. Analisis hubungan panjang dan berat ikan secara keseluruhan menunjukkan pola pertumbuhan yang bersifat alometrik positif (b = 3,0058), namun terdapat perbedaan antara ikan ukuran juvenil dan dewasa dimana ikan juvenil memiliki pola pertumbuhan yang bersifat alometrik negatif (b = 2,7275). Analisis faktor kondisi juga menunjukkan perbedaan, dimana ikan dewasa memiliki nilai faktor kondisi yang lebih rendah dibanding juvenil. Namun, secara keseluruhan ikan memiliki pertumbuhan dan faktor kondisi yang cukup baik, sehingga dapat berkembang di habitat baru ini. Dalam aspek pengelolaan, perlu dilakukan kontrol populasi dan pemantauan lebih lanjut terhadap dampak ekologis, karena mungkin saja spesies ini dapat menjadi invasif jika populasinya meningkat pesat dan mengganggu ekosistem lokal.Kata Kunci: Capungan banggai, dewasa, faktor kondisi, juvenil, pola pertumbuhanABSTRACTThe banggai cardinalfish is originally only found in the waters around the Banggai Islands, Central Sulawesi., but now it has spread to various regions including Baubau City waters, Southeast Sulawesi. This study was aimed to examine size distribution, growth patterns, and condition factors of the fish in the coastal waters of Baubau City which is a new habitat. Fish samples were collected using the exploration method along the waters where the fish are spread, their total length was measured, and their weight was weighed. The total length of the fish obtained ranged from 38.40-83.50 mm and their weight ranged from 0.64-8.17 grams. The size classes of the fish obtained were quite varied and were in the juvenile to adult phase. Analysis of length-weight relationship of the fish as a whole showed a positive allometric growth pattern (b=3.0058), but there was a difference between juvenile and adult fish where juvenile had a negative allometric (b = 2.7275). Condition factor analysis also showed differences, where adult had lower condition factor values than juveniles. However, overall the fish have quite good growth and condition factors, so they can thrive in this new habitat. In terms of management, population control and further monitoring of ecological impacts are needed, because this species can become invasive if its population increases rapidly and disrupts the local ecosystem.Keywords: Banggai cardinalfish, adults, condition factors, juveniles, growth patterns
