Abstract

The large number of smokers in Indonesia needs coordinated and integrated action to address, especially since the number of smokers among students continues to rise. One of the measures to address this issue is the no smoking area policy, including at school. However, no smoking area policy objectives must be supported by optimum policy execution. This study aims to determine the implementation of the Non-Smoking Area Policy at Pramita High School Tangerang City. This study uses qualitative research by conducting in-depth interviews. The principal, students, and counseling teachers are the three primary informants. Teachers and administrative personnel serve as the two supporting informants. The Content Analysis approach was used to analyze the data. Non-Smoking Areas Policy has yet to be implemented optimally at SMA Pramita Tangerang City. The school needs more resources and has yet to constitute a working group to enforce a smoke-free zone and consequences for breaches. There have also been no reporting systems for breaches of this policy, making it impossible to determine the number of violations and the level of compliance of school residents with this policy of no-smoking areas. A school must strengthen the implementation of No Smoking Areas by conducting socialization, developing a dedicated team, providing supporting facilities and infrastructure and imposing strict punishments on violators of the restrictions.

Abstract

The problems experienced by adolescents have an impact on their growth and development and their future. One of the main factors behind this problem is the exposure to information about adolescent reproductive health. This study aims to describe adolescent exposure to information on reproductive health. This type of research is observational with a cross-sectional study design. The sample in this study was 169 unmarried high school students aged 15–20 years who live in Banyumas Regency, totaling 169 people. Most adolescents are female (78.7%), 17 years old (40.8%), and 16 years old (37.9%), live with their parents (95.9%), use social media to find information about adolescent reproductive health (67.5%), considered parents as a more trusted source of information (27.8%) and social media as a less trusted source of information (50.9%). Most adolescents have received counseling about adolescent reproductive health at school (84.6%), provided Youth Information Center and Counseling Program in their schools (36.1%), and never received information about Generation Planner (68%) and Youth Information Center and Counseling Program (58.6%). Adolescents have sufficient access to information on adolescent reproductive health. Still, not a few adolescents have not received information about programs related to Generation Planner and Youth Information Center and Counseling Program. Schools already provide information on adolescent reproductive health and sexuality. However, only a few adolescents receive information about family planning and contraception and are aware of a school's youth counseling and information center.

Abstract

Adolescent girls are vulnerable to reproductive health problems such as vaginal discharge and reproductive tract infections, which are triggered by poor maintenance of their reproductive organs. This may further impact adolescents' quality of life and productivity. Adolescents in coastal areas tend to have limited sources of information, parental support, and inadequate health facilities related to adolescent reproductive health. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the behavior of maintaining reproductive organs among adolescent girls in coastal areas in the Buluspesantren District. Method: This research uses quantitative methods with a cross-sectional approach. The research population was 859 adolescent girls in coastal regions of Buluspesantren District, and a total sample of 96 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. There is a relationship between the availability of facilities and infrastructure (p-value=0.049) and attitudes (p-value=0.012) with reproductive organ maintenance behavior among adolescent girls in coastal areas in Buluspesantren District. The most influential factor is attitude (p-value = 0.018) with Odds Ratio (OR)=3.004. Adolescent girls with a positive attitude are 3.004 times more likely to have good reproductive organ maintenance behavior than adolescent girls with a negative attitude. Adolescent girls need to get information on reproductive organ maintenance from various trusted sources so that they have a positive attitude toward reproductive organ maintenance behavior.

Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is often experienced by adolescents with different levels of pain. Primary dysmenorrhea affects daily activities, especially in school-age adolescents, and has an impact on their academics and productivity at school. This study aimed to determine the factors associated with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea in female students at SMP N 2 Karanglewas. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional research design, with a total sample of 87 respondents at SMP N 2 Karanglewas using a cluster random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. There is a relationship between menarche age (p-value = 0.018); physical activity (p-value = 0.008); consumption of fast food (p-value = 0.009); and family history (p-value = 0.000); with primary dysmenorrhea. There is no relationship between the length of menstruation (p-value = 1,000); nutritional status (p-value = 0.556); and stress level (p-value = 0.798). There is a significant relationship between the age of menarche, physical activity, consumption of fast food, and family history with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea in female students of SMP N 2 Karanglewas. Adolescents with a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Sexual violence in higher education is a global issue with severe impacts on victims' health and academic performance. In Indonesia, its high prevalence is driven by peer norms, patriarchal culture, and inadequate institutional responses. However, critical gaps persist in understanding student perceptions, contributing factors, reporting barriers, and expectations for effective prevention and intervention. This study addresses these gaps by examining perceptions of sexual violence, associated risk factors and impacts, reporting barriers, and preventive expectations among university stakeholders. The research was conducted at Jenderal Soedirman University, employing a qualitative descriptive design that involved 18 informants, including students, counselors, and task force representatives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using content analysis. The findings highlight various forms of violence, including sexual harassment, physical, psychological, and gender-based violence, committed by peers, faculty, or staff. Impacts include psychological trauma and academic disruptions. Barriers to reporting, such as stigma, fear of retaliation, and ineffective mechanisms, were commonly reported. Cultural norms, power imbalances, and insufficient supervision in non-academic activities were found to exacerbate the issue. Informants stressed the need for a shift in cultural attitudes, accessible reporting systems, and victim support services through the implementation of comprehensive prevention and intervention programs.

Abstract

The rapid development of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia necessitates the enhancement of health services at Poskestren (Islamic boarding school health posts). Poskestren Darussalam in Banyumas Regency has significant potential to improve the health of its students, however, its program implementation remains suboptimal. Health cadres, referred to as Santri Husada, play a critical role in Poskestren management. Therefore, this management training was designed to enhance the capacity of Santri Husada cadres in managing Poskestren, enabling them to deliver better health services for students and contribute to a healthier pesantren environment. This training aimed to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of Poskestren cadres in health post management. The methods used included lectures, discussions, and brainstorming, supported by instructional media such as PowerPoint presentations, modules, flipcharts, and posters. The training involved 33 Santri Husada cadres. Evaluation was conducted by comparing knowledge scores before and after the training. The results showed a statistically significant improvement in participants' knowledge (p-value = 0.001). This training effectively increased the cadres' understanding of health service management in pesantren. However, ongoing support and guidance from local health centers (Puskesmas) need to be strengthened to ensure program sustainability.
