Abstract

This study aimed to describe the problem-solving abilities and mathematical connections of the sixth-semester students of Physics Tadris in the Statistical Physics course, especially the Bose-Einstein Equation Material. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research. Data collection in this study used a cognitive test technique in the form of a description test to measure students' mathematical abilities, which amounted to 8 questions, of which four were used to measure problem-solving abilities, and four were used to measure students' mathematical connections. Data analysis was carried out descriptively to determine the profile of students' mathematical abilities and the distribution of predicate achievement on the ability of problem fractions and students' mathematical connections. The results showed that students' average problem-solving ability and mathematical connection were in the Pretty Good category.

Abstract

This study uses a STEAM approach to learning outcomes of biological innovation, using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only design with a nonequivalent group design. The population in this study are fourth-semester students of Biology Tadris UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, class IVA, IVB, IVC, and VI D, totaling 36 people. Samples were taken using class IVA and IV D with the purposive sampling technique. The instrument in this study was in the form of five essay test questions. Data analysis used t-test and correlation test (phi (Φ)). Analysis of t-test data from the calculation results shows that the use of the STEAM approach is proven to be better than online lectures without using the STEAM approach. The results of the study were continued with a correlation test (phi test (Φ)), from the results of the calculations, it was concluded that the STEAM approach had a significant effect on the learning outcomes of students’ cognitive domains in the biology learning innovation course.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze research trends and characteristics related to collaborative reflective learning in educational contexts, particularly among pre-service biology teachers, and to recommend courses that align with this strategy. The method used in this study was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The researchers reviewed 33 scientific articles selected based on the criteria of being in English, published in reputable journals indexed by Scopus, and published between 2000 and 2025. The results revealed a significant increase in publications on this topic since 2018, with a peak in 2020 and 2024, which may have been influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic and the application of technology in online learning. The results also revealed that the concept of "collaborative" is often associated with professional identity, teaching and learning processes, and teacher competency development. Overall, research trends indicate that collaborative reflective learning is a strategic approach to professional development and pedagogical innovation. These strategies are crucial for preparing pre-service biology teachers who are adaptive and competent. This approach not only deepens understanding of biological concepts but also enhances critical thinking, problem-solving, and reflective skills. Through the implementation of this strategy, prospective teachers are expected to develop strong pedagogical competencies and be ready to face the challenges of 21st century education.
