Abstract

In the development of leadership studies, various leadership styles have been born. Among the various models, situational leadership is the ideal leadership style because it can adapt the leadership approach with the reality of the followers' social context and circumstances. This study examines the empirical reality practices of situational leadership in Islam by analyzing the Prophet Muhammad's leadership model. This study uses a library research method with a content analysis approach. This study's results indicate that the Prophet Muhammad used a situational leadership style in leading the ummah. This is evidenced by the Prophet's leadership characteristics between Mecca and Medina's periods, which were adapted to the social realities and conditions of his followers. The differences in leadership characteristics can be assessed through the different characteristics of the verses and hadiths used by the Prophet as a medium in leading. Besides, evidence can also be obtained through the principle of graduality in implementing Islamic teachings. The Prophet's leadership in spreading Islamic teachings is implemented gradually following the reality of the social context and the abilities of his followers.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the behavioral intention of the Muslim crowd funders to use the Zakat-based crowdfunding platform model by adopting the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) Model. The online platform, as an intermediary between Muslim crowd funders and MSMEs, provides financing services for MSMEs to fight any situation/pandemic like COVID-19 nowadays. This study used the primary data collected by using the online survey questionnaires, and then the analysis is conducted using partial least squares (PLS) regression. The empirical study shows that all the variables except for facilitating conditions have a significant positive effect on Muslim crowd funders' intention to use the Zakat-based crowdfunding platform model. The present study will help the government and policymakers to plan appropriate intervention strategies to minimize the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on MSMEs in Indonesia. Furthermore, the study will contribute to the existing literature, especially on the factors influencing the adoption of the Zakat-based crowdfunding platform model.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the terms "perfect" and "imperfect" competition in the market structure from an Islamic economic perspective. This study employed a qualitative approach to library research as its methodology. The results of the literature review indicate that the structure of perfect competition has a close relationship with the Islamic market concept. This proximity is reflected in the price, which is determined according to the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad by supply and demand. In addition, it is believed that perfect market competition is a market structure that can benefit both consumers and producers. Moreover, elements of imperfect competition that can oppress consumers, such as monopolies, oligopolies, and monopolistic practices, must be avoided. In Islamic economics, however, there is no concept of competition because it is synonymous with war, fighting, and dumping, so the term "competition" in the concept of market structure is inappropriate. For this reason, a new concept is required, namely the ta'awun market, in which the market in Islamic economics should be a place and a means of mutual assistance. Keywords: Market structure, Islamic perspective, perfect competition, imperfect competition

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between financial inclusion and the distribution of Islamic banking financing to Indonesia's MSME industry.Methodology – This study utilizes the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) approach covering the period between 2015 to 2020.Findings – The study's findings suggest that the use of all-inclusive financial variables, as represented by the number of ATMs, branch offices, and Third-Party Fund (TPF), has a significant effect on the distribution of financing in the short-term but not in the long term. Furthermore, macroeconomic as well as internal control variables, such as inflation and Non-Performing Financing, have been shown to have a significant influence. The impulse-response function analysis shows that the financing distribution responds positively to financial inclusion variables such as ATMs and branch offices. TPF, inflation, ROA, and exchange rate variables were found to have negative responses in the case of a shock.Implications – The findings of this study are expected to be used as a basis to develop government policies, particularly in supporting the post-COVID-19 national economic recovery through a comprehensive financial program that can broaden access to financing from Islamic banks for the general public, particularly MSME actors who have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.Originality – This investigation utilizes three distinct indicators to assess the relationship between Islamic financing distribution in Islamic banking and financial inclusion for MSMEs. These include measures of financial inclusion, financial performance metrics of Islamic banking institutions, and macroeconomic variables.
