Abstract

Children are a golden age in their growth, so that various information that comes in both verbally and visually will be recorded well, therefore children aged 2-13 years need to receive assistance and supervision over all their activities. Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, all learning activities have changed to online learning, as a result of online learning, there has been a change in children's attitudes. This change is due to children accessing social media a lot and receiving less guidance from their parents, resulting in excessive use of social media. For children and teenagers who have parents, monitoring will be possible, but for children and teenagers in orphanages, do they receive monitoring, assistance, and supervision from parents? Therefore, in this community service activity, the researcher wanted to know more about monitoring the use of social media by children in orphanages. Several games were carried out to determine the extent of children's use of social media, and as a result, the games could divert children's tendencies to use social media.

Abstract

Soil formation in volcanic terrains presents a significant challenge due to the diverse physical and chemical properties imparted by volcanic activity, which are not yet fully understood. This study investigates the unique morphological characteristics of soil profiles within crater topography sequences at the Tangkuban Parahu Volcano, Indonesia. To address this gap, five representative sample profiles (I, II, III, IV, V) were analyzed. The Ratu Crater pathway topography was characterized by steep to very steep slopes. Detailed analysis identified three predominant soil layers, each with distinct features such as color, texture, porosity, and chemical composition, reflecting different stages of soil formation. At the highest elevation near the crater rim, Profile V was composed mainly of volcanic ash, with a loose structure, high porosity, and acidic pH, indicative of recent volcanic deposits. Profile III, at intermediate elevations, consisted of highly weathered soil with sandy loam textures and clear layer demarcations, suggesting prolonged soil development and consolidation. Profile I, at the lowest elevation, featured loamy sand with significant weathering and organic matter incorporation, indicating advanced soil development stages. The findings underscore the impact of volcanic activity on soil morphology, revealing distinct layers that correlate with various ages and developmental stages. Understanding these processes can inform agricultural practices.

Abstract

The traditional sheep farming process is carried out by smallholder sheep farmers in West Java based on the inheritance passed down from their parents. A more detailed examination of the process of cultivating people's sheep reveals significant economic potential, encompassing the upstream sub-sector, the on-farm sub-sector, and the downstream sub-sector. This lucrative business opportunity is challenging for smallholder sheep farming to attain, partly due to difficulties in communication. The objective of this study is to gain insight into the communication factors that influence the entrepreneurial spirit of smallholder sheep farming in West Java. This study employs three variables: communication frequency, communication quality, and information sources. This research employs a quantitative analytical method of the causal-comparative research type. The analysis yielded findings indicating that communication techniques play a pivotal role in influencing the entrepreneurial spirit of smallholder sheep farming

Abstract

Women in Indonesia often bear the primary responsibility for household and childcare, a role inconsistent with global gender equality principles. This study focuses on a women’s farming group in the Griya Wana Karya Permai housing complex, Bubulak Village, Bogor City, who transformed public facility land into productive horticultural areas. To support their efforts, training was provided on producing liquid organic fertilizer to enhance crop productivity. The initiative also introduced hydroponic systems for cultivating vegetables like pak choy. Results showed that the women farmers successfully utilized organic waste to create both liquid and solid fertilizers, improving horticultural yields and contributing to family income. This activity not only promoted sustainable agriculture but also empowered women by providing them with new skills and economic opportunities, aligning with SDGs on gender equality, food security, and climate action

Abstract

The primary objective of this study was to determine the current condition, areas, and potential of soil degradation due to biomass production in Bekasi Regency. This study used a survey-based methodology that involved direct field observation and collection of soil samples from specified agricultural and forestry areas based on work maps. The laboratory analysis was conducted on the collected soil samples. The initial phase of soil damage determination involved an evaluation of the current soil condition. Soil condition maps were created utilizing data derived from the determination of key soil parameters based on the standard of so il damage criteria. The result of the analysis indicated that the degree of soil damage in Bekasi Regency due to biomass production varied from slight to moderate. The primary limiting factors were identified as soil permeability (p), redox potential (r), to tal porosity (v), electrical conductivity (e), bulk density (d), and pH level (a). The limiting factors were predominantly influenced by the constraints associated with the physical characteristics of the soil. The phenomenon is commonly associated with the high level of land exploitation, characterized by the use of chemical inputs, resulting in soil compaction. The process of compaction has a substantial impact on soil properties, including permeability, porosity, redox potential, bulk density, and electrical conductivity.

Abstract

The paper discusses a community project related to local food production by a group of women in an idle peri-urban landscape. Instead of positioning women solely as homemakers within the house, this project views them as active participants of a peri- urban community. On the other hand, the availability of idle land in the peri-urban context can be utilized, allowing it to be transformed into an active space for growing food. Responding to the idea, a community project was conducted with a group of women farmers in a housing complex situated near the Bubulak Village, Bogor, Indonesia. They utilized an open space that had been idle for a long time and transformed it into a community farming space, a productive land for cultivating vegetables and other horticultural plants. To support the enthusiasm for this project, a training program was conducted to produce liquid organic fertilizer and compost, aiming to increase plant productivity through an organic method. The process was observed qualitatively, with a particular focus on the transfer of knowledge. As this community values a healthy lifestyle, the introduction of organic fertilizer becomes a crucial foundation for creating potential business ventures that can drive the family and local economy. Furthermore, as this project highlights the critical role of women in everyday life, it involves two key activities in transforming idle landscapes—producing organic fertilizer and formulating a potential business venture. The empowerment project in this study has demonstrated a positive impact on the community’s resilience in producing and maintaining high-quality local food.
