Abstract

This research aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective Financial Management learning module that incorporates Augmented Reality to enhance student engagement and improve comprehension. The study follows the 4D development model, which includes defining, designing, developing, and disseminating stages. The subjects were students from the 2021/2022 cohort of the Accounting Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Medan who enrolled in the Financial Management course. Data collection involved expert validation surveys, user trials, and analysis of students' learning outcomes. Qualitative and quantitative analysis were used to evaluate the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the module. Findings show that media and content experts highly rated the module, giving it strong validity and practicality scores. The module was also effective in enhancing students' understanding of financial management, as evidenced by significant improvements in t-test results. This Augmented Reality-based module is a highly innovative and effective learning resource for higher education.

Abstract

This study examines factors influencing accounting learning difficulties among 138 students of the Accounting Education Program at Universitas Negeri Medan, with a sample of 117, which was determined using Slovin's formula and purposive sampling. This study employed descriptive and verificative methods, and data was analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE). Key findings reveal that interest in learning, motivation, talent, independent learning, and campus environment significantly impact learning difficulties. Specifically, higher interest, motivation, and talent, combined with a supportive campus environment, reduce accounting learning difficulties. The study highlights the importance of fostering motivation, independent learning, and a resource-rich environment to enhance academic success and prepare students for accounting careers.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of resilience, psychological well-being, and self-efficacy on students’ accounting understanding. A quantitative explanatory research method was employed. Data were collected from 118 undergraduate students enrolled in the Accounting Education Program, Faculty of Economics, Medan State University. The participants were selected using purposive sampling and had completed core accounting courses. Data were gathered through a structured questionnaire measured on a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS software. The results demonstrate that resilience, psychological well-being, and self-efficacy have positive and statistically significant effects on accounting understanding. Among these variables, self-efficacy exhibits the strongest influence on accounting understanding (β = 0.41; p < .001), followed by resilience and psychological well-being. The structural model explains 65% of the variance in accounting understanding (R² = 0.65), indicating strong explanatory power. These findings suggest that students’ accounting understanding is influenced not only by cognitive learning processes but also by psychological resources that support academic engagement and persistence.
