Abstract

One of the problems of today's adolescents is the lack of fulfillment of quality sleep which has an impact on a decrease in the cognitive level of young people. In Indonesia, adolescents who experience sleep quality disturbances are in a fairly high category, where several research results show that more than 30% of adolescents experience poor sleep quality. One of the factors that causes adolescents to experience poor sleep quality includes lifestyle changes including the use of gadgets. This study aims to determine the relationship between gadget use and stress levels on sleep quality in adolescents at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari in 2022. This type of research is analytic using a Cross Sectional Study design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 10 Kendari, totaling 202 people, while the number of samples was 133 obtained using the lambeshow formula. Samples were drawn using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. The measuring instrument used was the Pittsburgh Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire (to measure sleep quality) while stress was measured by a questionnaire (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42). Of the 133 respondents, most were teenagers with poor sleep quality, 79 respondents (59.4%) had good sleep quality, 54 respondents (40.6%). The results of the analysis of the relationship obtained the relationship between gadget use and sleep quality (p = 0.000), duration of gadget use (p = 0.000), activity using gadgets (p = 0.000, stress (p = 0.004). The results of this study provide evidence that the use of gadgets, the duration of gadget use, the activity of using gadgets and stress are related to the sleep quality of adolescents at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari in 2022

Abstract

The library's function as a health information center has not been fully utilized in many schools. This results in students' lack of understanding of the importance of easily accessible health information through the library. This community service program aims to optimize the library at SD Kristen Kota Kendari as a health information center for students. In this effort, the library was revitalized through improvements to the room layout, grouping book collections by theme, and the development of a health literacy corner. In addition, health education was provided to students through group reading activities and discussions on topics such as personal hygiene, the importance of handwashing, and healthy eating. Students' knowledge was assessed before and after the health education using a structured questionnaire. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding. Most students who initially had poor knowledge moved to a better knowledge category after the education. The revitalization of the library and health literacy activities proved effective in increasing students' interest in reading and their understanding of the importance of clean, healthy living behaviors.

Abstract

Health literacy plays an important role in shaping healthy behaviors among adolescents; however, the level of health literacy among junior high school students in Indonesia remains low. Initial assessments at Muhammadiyah Kendari Junior High School indicated that most students (73%) had insufficient knowledge of health information and rarely used health books as learning resources. This study aimed to improve students’ health literacy through a health book exhibition intervention conducted as part of community service activities. The study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach involving 30 students at SMP Muhammadiyah Kendari. The intervention was implemented through a health book exhibition featuring popular health books, educational visual media, and active reading assistance sessions. Health literacy was measured before and after the intervention using a structured measurement instrument. The results indicated a significant increase in students’ understanding, with the average post-test score increasing by 43.3% compared with the pre-test score. The paired t-test yielded a p-value of 0.000. The findings suggest that health book exhibitions may be effective as a contextual and easily applicable promotive education strategy in school settings. This approach has the potential to serve as a sustainable health literacy intervention model for junior high schools.

Abstract

HIV-AIDS remains a public health threat in Indonesia, including in rural areas such as Muna Regency. Low public awareness in the Mabodo Community Health Center (Puskesmas) working area is a major obstacle in efforts to prevent and break the chain of stigma. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on HIV-AIDS prevention on public awareness in the Mabodo Community Health Center working area in Muna Regency in 2025. This study used an analytical design with an experimental approach and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population consisted of 46 respondents, and the sample also consisted of 46 respondents, which were selected using total sampling technique. The study variables were measured using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The measured data were then processed and analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 and tested using the Wilcoxon test. The statistical test results showed that the respondents' knowledge before receiving health education was 53.69 on average, while their knowledge after receiving health education was 78.04 on average, with a p-value of 0.000. It can be concluded that health education is effective in increasing public knowledge about HIV/AIDS prevention in rural areas. It is recommended that local health centers integrate this education program on a regular basis to improve health literacy and reduce the number of new cases.

Abstract

Visits by toddlers to Posyandu (integrated health service posts) are an important indicator in monitoring child health in Indonesia. Visits by toddlers to Posyandu in Muna District are still very low, at 41.6% in 2024. Maternal knowledge and family support play a role in encouraging toddlers’ participation in Posyandu activities. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge and family support on the frequency of toddlers’ visits to Posyandu in Masalili Village, Muna District. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 57 families with toddlers selected randomly from Masalili Village. Data were collected through questionnaires that measured the level of maternal knowledge, family support, and the frequency of toddler visits to Posyandu. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square statistical test using the SPSS application. The results showed that there was a relationship between knowledge and toddlers’ attendance to the Posyandu (p=0.001) and that there was a relationship between family support and toddlers’ attendance to the Posyandu (p=0.024). Maternal knowledge and family support play an important role in increasing the frequency of toddlers’ attendance to the Posyandu. Therefore, efforts to increase maternal knowledge and strengthen family support should be the main focus of public health programs in the area.
