Abstract

The convenience presented by social media technology leads to dependence on its users. Social media dependence has a bad impact on humans and is very dangerous for its users. Thus it is necessary to analyze how the level of dependence of society on social media. The transmission of social media dependence occurs if there is interaction between communities. The study aims to determine the level of dependence of the community on social media. This research is stated ase basic research and uses literature studies. This research begins with identifying problems, formulating mathematical models, conducting stability analysis at the point and interpreting the mathematical model. Based on the results of the analysis, this point remains free and endemic to people's dependence on social media exists and will be asymptotic stable if it meets some of the conditions of the Routh-Hurwitz criteria. Based on the simulation results, the interaction and the number of people who recover can affect the spread of dependence on social media. The spread of people's dependence on social media will be reduced if the rate of recovery is increased.

Abstract

C-reactive protein is an acute-phase protein produced by the liver in response to inflammation. Dyslipidemia can trigger the inflammatory reaction in the blood vessels, causing atherosclerosis. The ratio of total cholesterol/High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) is considered as one of the sensitive predictor lipid ratio for the cardiovascular disease risk factor. Objectives: To determined the correlation of C reactive protein between cholesterol levels with total cholesterol/HDL ratio in obese people. Methods: This study was an analytical study with a cross-sectional design of 59 people who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria at the RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang from January to September 2019. Research subjects consisted of first degree obesity (25.0 ≤IMT <30.0 kg/m2) and second degree (≥30.0 kg/m2). C reactive protein levels were measured as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein. Total cholesterol and HDL levels were measured using automated clinical chemicals with the enzymatic colorimetric method. Data were analyzed by Pearson, significant if p <0.05. Results: The study subjects were 59 people (17 men and 22 women) with an average age was 35 (8.04) years. CRP levels in stage II obesity were slightly higher than grade I, with a mean difference between groups of 0.26 mg/L (95% CI: -1.80-1.2; p=0.74). The average ratio of total cholesterol/HDL levels in the obese group I and II was 5.13 and 4.80 (p=0.93). The correlation showed a very weak positive (r=0.12) and was statistically not significant (p=0.35). The results of the subanalysis showed relatively similar patterns between the first-degree obesity population (r=0.10; p=0.58) and second-degree (r=0.16; p=0.41). Conclusion: There is no significant correlation between protein C-reactive and total cholesterol/HDL ratio. Keywords: Obesity, C-Reactive Protein, total cholesterol/HDL ratio

Abstract

Seafood is one of the foods favored by the community and has waste that is not used properly, such as shells. The component contained in the highest shell is chitin, this chitin content can be processed into chitosan. Chitosan is obtained from a process, namely enzymatic and chemical hydrolysis and this process can also be used to obtain chitooligosaccharides. Chitooligosaccharides are complex compounds of the glycoprotein group which have -1,4 glucosamine bonds. Chitooligosaccharides can act as prebiotics. Recently, there has been a lot of research on the characteristics and prebiotic activity of chitooligosaccharides. However, there is a lack of information regarding the relationship between the characteristics and prebiotic activity of chitooligosaccharides mainly from different sources of chitooligosaccharides. Therefore, the aim of this review is to summarize and collect viewpoints regarding the relationship of characteristics with prebiotic activity. The characteristics of chitosan of each type of shell have differences, the main parameter is the degree of deacetylation. The high degree of deacetylation and yield can affect the yield on the characteristics of the chitooligosaccharides produced. Thus, the higher the degree of deacetylation of chitosan, the higher the degree of deacetylation of chitooligosaccharides, so that it can show high prebiotic activity because probiotic bacteria can grow well. Accordingly, this summary can contribute to explaining a comprehensive review of the characteristics of chitooligosaccharides on the prebiotic activity of underutilized and safe materials for consumption.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the potential to improve the science literacy of elementary school students through the application of the RADEC learning model based on the STEM approach on electrical materials. This study uses a pre-experimental design in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest design without a control group. The subjects consisted of 21 grade V students in one of the public elementary schools in Indonesia. Data was collected through science literacy tests administered before and after learning. The results of the analysis using paired t-tests showed a significant increase in students' science literacy scores after the intervention (t(20) = 10.46, p < 0.001), with an average pretest score of 1.44 and a posttest of 4.11, as well as an average gain of 2.67 (SD = 0.80). All participants showed an increase in scores. These findings indicate that the integration of STEM approaches in the RADEC model has the potential to improve students' understanding of science concepts. However, because the study design did not involve a control group, it cannot be concluded with certainty that the improvement was entirely due to the intervention. Other factors such as additional learning experience or the effect of test repetition can affect the results. Further research with a quasi-experimental design is recommended to test effectiveness more robustly.

Abstract

Indonesia’s beauty industry is experiencing rapid growth, driven by increasing public awareness of the importance of appearance and skincare. With a population exceeding 270 million, Indonesia holds substantial market potential, particularly among millennials and Generation Z, who are highly receptive to global beauty trends. Globalization has further facilitated access to international beauty products, including those from South Korea. This study aims to examine the influence of brand image, celebrity endorsers, and product packaging on consumers’ purchase intention toward Barenbliss products in Surabaya. A quantitative approach with a relational-causal method was employed. The study involved 217 respondents selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria: residing in Surabaya, aged 17 years or older, having purchased and used Barenbliss products, and being aware of the brand’s promotional efforts. Data were collected via a structured questionnaire tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis utilized multiple linear regression. The results reveal that brand image, celebrity endorser, and product packaging have a significant simultaneous and partial influence on consumers’ purchase intention for Barenbliss products in Surabaya.

Abstract

Nutritional status is an important indicator that determines the quality of health and development of school-age children. Adequate nutrition supports children's physical growth and cognitive abilities, and contributes to academic achievement. This community service activity aims to analyze the nutritional status of Bustanul Ulum Elementary School students by measuring height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI). The method used is quantitative descriptive with a sample of 150 students from grades 1 to 6. Measurements were carried out using standard and calibrated measuring instruments, while BMI was calculated using the formula body weight (kg) divided by the square of height (m²). The results showed that 75% of students had normal nutritional status, 10% were underweight and stunted, and 15% were overweight and obese. Factors that influence nutritional status include an unbalanced diet, lack of physical activity, and family socio-economic background. Children from families who have access to healthy food and good nutrition education tend to have better nutritional status. Based on these results, a comprehensive intervention program is needed in the form of nutrition education for students and parents, provision of healthy food at school, and promotion of regular physical activity. Collaboration between schools, health workers, and parents is essential to create an environment that supports optimal and sustainable child growth and development.
