Abstract

Learning assistance is an essential form of facilitation that helps children overcome learning difficulties, particularly children in orphanages with diverse social backgrounds, traumatic experiences, and varying cognitive abilities. The lack of reading habits and the low culture of literacy and numeracy among children in orphanages indicate the need for structured interventions through learning assistance programs oriented toward literacy and numeracy development. This study aims to systematically analyze the role of learning assistance in developing literacy and numeracy among children in orphanages. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach. Data were obtained from national articles indexed in Google Scholar and published between 2022 and 2026. The findings show that structured, empathetic, and continuous learning assistance has a significant impact on improving reading, numeracy, writing, critical thinking skills, and learning motivation among children in orphanages. Furthermore, the integration of digital-based approaches, creative activities, and community collaboration effectively strengthens the sustainability and inclusivity of literacy and numeracy programs within orphanage environments. This study concludes that learning assistance is not merely an academic effort but also a form of social empowerment that supports the development of a sustainable literacy and numeracy culture within the framework of 21st-century learning.

Abstract

Current CNC technology is continually evolving, which necessitates ongoing innovation in classroom teaching for vocational high school students to achieve effective and efficient understanding. So far, the methods commonly used for CNC subjects still rely on conventional methods, such as memorization and group practice. Therefore, as a teacher, it is important to integrate practical and theoretical understanding in teaching by selecting the appropriate teaching methods. Besides choosing the right teaching methods, a teacher must also be able to reflect on the learning outcomes for continuous evaluation, one way being through classroom action research (CAR). In this CAR, the researcher will use various job sheets provided to students to enhance their understanding and practical skills in operating CNC machines. The researcher presents findings using a descriptive quantitative method as it relates to the actual conditions observed in the classroom. The subjects of this study are 36 students from class XI TPM 2, and the process will be divided into three cycles to measure the students' mastery index. Based on the research results, with the implementation of different job sheet models given to the students, the mastery index was 75% in cycle 1, 80.5% in cycle 2, and 88.8% in cycle 3. The increasing mastery index indicates that the evaluation of job sheet provision by the teacher was successful. This improvement in the mastery index is expected to be accompanied by an increase in student engagement in the classroom and teacher activity.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of mathematics assessment based on the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach and to analyze its effect on the mathematical literacy skills of third-grade elementary school students. The study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest model. The subjects consisted of 28 third-grade students from a elementary school in Malang, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was an multiple choice test designed to measure three indicators of mathematical literacy: the ability to identify relevant information, explain problem-solving processes in their own words, and present mathematical ideas in a structured manner. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, t-test, and the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test with the assistance of SPSS version 29. The results showed that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, the Wilcoxon test was used, yielding a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of CRT-based assessment on students’ mathematical literacy skills. Improvement was also evident from the increase in the mean score from 46.7 in the pretest to 68.5 in the posttest. The implementation of CRT-based assessment was carried out by integrating local cultural elements, such as the Bapang Mask Dance and temple architecture, into angle measurement materials. This approach proved effective in enhancing conceptual understanding, student engagement, and the ability to communicate mathematical ideas contextually. Thus, CRT-based mathematics assessment is effective in improving elementary students’ mathematical literacy skills.
