Abstract

This study aimed to examine the influence of recruitment, selection, and motivation on employee performance at AKPAR NHI Bandung, a college of hospitality and tourism in Bandung, Indonesia. A sample of 62 respondents, consisting of 20 academic staff and 42 administrative staff, was selected to participate in the study. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed to the respondents. The findings revealed that both recruitment and selection had a significant positive impact on employee performance. Effective recruitment practices, such as attracting and selecting qualified candidates, were found to be crucial in driving employee performance. Similarly, aligning candidates' qualifications with job requirements through a well-designed selection process positively influenced employee performance. However, no significant relationship was found between motivation and employee performance. These results underscore the importance of implementing effective recruitment and selection strategies to enhance employee performance. Organizations should focus on attracting and selecting highly qualified individuals while ensuring a good fit between candidates and job requirements. Efforts should also be made to foster employee motivation through recognition, career development, and a supportive work environment. The study contributes to the understanding of human resource management practices and their impact on employee performance in the hospitality and tourism industry. The findings highlight the need for strategic human resource management approaches that optimize recruitment and selection processes and address employee motivation.

Abstract

Employee retention is a critical challenge for organizations, particularly in the digital era marked by rapid technological advancements and dynamic workplace environments. This study examines the influence of emotional intelligence in leadership, focusing on empathy and stress management, on employee retention, with job satisfaction serving as an intervening variable. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from 50 employees of Halodoc in Bandung through a total sampling technique. The analysis, conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS, revealed that empathy and stress management have significant direct effects on job satisfaction and employee retention. Moreover, job satisfaction was found to play a pivotal mediating role, amplifying the indirect effects of empathy and stress management on retention outcomes. These findings highlight the importance of fostering emotionally intelligent leadership to enhance job satisfaction and reduce turnover rates. The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of emotional intelligence in leadership while offering practical insights for organizations to strengthen their retention strategies in the digital era. Future research is encouraged to explore these relationships in remote and hybrid work contexts.

Abstract

This research is based on a survey of Bank BPR KS where in recent years there has been a high turn-over. Respondents were asked to provide responses related to the factors that influence commitment, namely job involvement and job satisfaction. There were 83 employee respondents who were sampled using the slovin formula. Multiple linear regression analysis was used in this study. The results showed that the variables of job involvement and job satisfaction had a partially significant effect on employee commitment. Based on the results of the F test, it is found that the two variables have a significant effect on employee commitment simultaneously. Based on the test results, the coefficient of determination shows that the effect of the three independent variables on the dependent variable is 58%. Abstract

This study systematically reviews the evolution of food innovation in the hospitality and tourism industry, specifically focusing on the intersection of local food heritage, health-conscious consumption, and sustainability. It aims to examine how food innovation serves as a strategic dynamic capability that influences tourist acceptance and contributes to destination resilience in the post-pandemic context. Following the PRISMA guidelines, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using 34 peer-reviewed articles retrieved from the Scopus database (2020–2025). A qualitative thematic synthesis was employed to categorize innovation drivers, implementation mechanisms, and strategic outcomes, analyzed through the theoretical lens of Dynamic Capabilities and Destination Resilience. The findings reveal a paradigm shift from industrial efficiency toward authenticity-oriented and sustainability-driven practices. Two dominant drivers emerge: the revitalization of indigenous food systems and the demand for functional/health-oriented foods. Crucially, the review identifies that these innovations are operationalized through Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs), which function as mediating capabilities that transform local resources into competitive advantages. This review contributes to hospitality scholarship by proposing a novel "Sustainable Gastronomy Resilience" framework. Unlike previous product-centric studies, this research theoretically positions food innovation as a core strategic asset for regional stability. The findings offer actionable insights for destination managers and practitioners to strengthen resilience through supply chain integration and culinary storytelling.

Abstract

This study advances tourism waste scholarship by introducing the Socio-Technical Regenerative Tourism Waste Model (STR-TWM), a framework that maps the transition from linear, disposal-oriented practices toward circular, technology-enabled, and socially embedded systems. Despite the growing urgency of waste challenges in tourism, existing literature remains fragmented, often focusing on isolated technical or policy solutions. Through a systematic literature review (SLR) of 47 peer-reviewed journal articles (2020–2025) following PRISMA guidelines, this study examines the evolution of Sustainable Waste Management (SWM) models, particularly within the geographically complex context of Southeast Asia. Findings identify a paradigm shift from disposal-centric approaches toward hybrid models that integrate Circular Economy (CE) principles, Industry 4.0-based smart technologies, and stakeholder-integrated governance. The proposed STR-TWM conceptualizes SWM as a regenerative system in which digital transparency enables circular material flows, anchored within community-based governance structures. While policy incentives and technological affordability drive this transition, it remains constrained by archipelagic logistical fragmentation and behavioral compliance gaps. Managerially, the study provides strategic guidance for policymakers and destination managers seeking to operationalize zero-waste pathways. By synthesizing diverse technological and social subsystems, this review offers a coherent roadmap for advancing regenerative tourism systems.
