Abstract

This study aims to develop a quadrant service training model by applying the six stages of research and development adopted from Borg and Gall’s 10-step research and development process, namely: analysis of potential problems, initial product design, design validation and revision, small-scale testing and design revision, large-scale testing and design revision, and effectiveness testing. Based on this sequence of stages, the following results were obtained: (1) an average score of 4.58 for the initial version of the quadrant serve training model, which required revision prior to the small-scale trial; (2) quadrant serve ability was rated as “very good” for 4 subjects and “good” for 4 of the 8 trial subjects in the small-scale trial; (3) in the large-scale trial, 10 subjects demonstrated very good and 10 good quadrant serve skills, (4) the training model is effective for improving the quadrant serve skills of sepak takraw athletes. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the developed serve training model is feasible and effective for improving quadrant serve skills in sepak takraw Keywords: Quadrant, Training Model, Development, Sepak Takraw, Serve
