Abstract

Today, many cosmetic products are unhealthy and un-quality. Nowadays, the lifestyle trend of "back to nature" is increasing where people's trust in active compounds of natural materials is relatively safer than synthetic chemical compounds. Therefore, creating healthy and quality products at affordable prices is the focus of the government. Cosmetics are ingredients or preparations intended for use on the outside of the human body (epidermis, hair, nails, lips, and outer genital organs) or teeth and mucous membranes of the mouth, especially to cleanse, scent, change the appearance, and or improve body odor or protect or maintain the body in good condition. The activities that will be carried out are a demonstration of the manufacture of cosmetics of natural materials by a team of lecturers to the community in The Village of Sungai Tiung, Cempaka, Banjarbaru to improve the quality of public health knowledge and insights towards the training of cosmetic natural materials so that people can use the natural ingredients around as cosmetics and have a selling value, such as rose water, masks, and body butter. So that the cosmetic natural ingredients have the potential to be developed into natural mask ingredients for the face. It is expected that residents can use coffee, green tea, rose petals, oats, and rice as natural cosmetic ingredients for treatment and can increase their economic value as a business opportunity.

Abstract

Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) and telang flower (Clitoria ternatea L.) contain anthocyanins which have antioxidant, so the researchers combined to use as effervescent granules. This study aims to determine the characteristics, and the antioxidant activity of effervescent granule combination of rosella and telang flower extract. Antioxidant activity testing using DPPH. The antioxidant activity of the combined thick extract was obtained ???????? 50 7.5 ppm, after that it was made into an effervescent granule preparation in 4 formulas. The resut show that all formulas had a characteristic taste of almost uniform color, dark turquoise. In all test formulas for water content, the results obtained are 1.68%-2.82%, compressibility index 11.641%-16%, angle of repose 31.2º-34.43º, flow time 6.25-6.83 seconds, dissolving time 208 -257 seconds and pH 6.2-6.6. The results of the antioxidant activity of effervescent granules revealed ???????? 50 of 62,628 ppm (strong).

Abstract

Background: Acne (acne vulgaris) is still a major health problem. Treatment with antibiotics raises problems in the form of resistance, irritation, and immune hypersensitivity. Alternatives derived from natural ingredients are needed to avoid these problems, namely Dayak onions.Objective: To find out the activity of the ethanol extract of onion bulbs in inhibiting the growth of P. acnes based on the variation of the incubation time duration of the bacteria as well as the solvent.Method: Phytochemical screening tests looked for alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, steroids, tannins, and saponins. Testing of the extract’s ability to inhibit bacteria was carried out with variations in the incubation times (24 and 48 hours) and solvents, namely Na-CMC and DMSO. The bacteria growth inhibition test employed the well-diffusion method, and the resulting data was analyzed using SPSS software.Results: Dayak onion extract contains alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, and triterpenoids. Na-CMC solvent obtained the highest inhibition ability of Dayak onion extract at a concentration of 40% with an inhibition value of 10.12±1.840mm (24 hours), and 11.575±1.694 mm (48 hours) while DMSO solvent showed the highest inhibition at a concentration of 20% with inhibition values of 15.48±1.198 mm (24 hours) and 15.91±1.625 mm (48 hours). Interpretation of the results of the Wilcoxon test based on ranking showed a positive difference at 48 hours of incubation.Conclusion: The optimal incubation time of P. acnes was 48 hours with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as the best solvent. Intisari Latar belakang: Jerawat (acne vulgaris) masih menjadi masalah kesehatan utama. Penannganan dengan antibiotik memunculkan masalah berupa resistensi, iritasi hingga imunohipersensitivitas. Diperlukan alternatif yang berasal dari bahan alam untuk menghindari masalah-masalah tersebut, yaitu bawang dayak (Eleutherine americana Merr.). Tujuan: mengetahui aktivitas ekstrak etanol umbi bawang Dayak dalam menghambat pertumbuhan P. acnes berdasar variasi lama waktu inkubasi bakteri P. acnes dan variasi pelarut.Metode: Pengujian skrining fitokimia meliputi uji alkaloid, flavonoid, triterpenoid, tanin dan saponin. Pengujian aktivitas ekstrak dalam menghambat bakteri dilakukan dengan variasi waktu inkubasi yaitu 24 jam dan 48 jam, serta penggunaan pelarut yang berbeda yaitu Na-CMC dan DMSO. Uji penghambatan bakteri menggunakan metode difusi sumuran dan dilanjutkan dengan analisis data menggunakan SPSS.Hasil: Ekstrak bawang dayak mengandung alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid dan triterpenoid. Pengujian menggunakan pelarut Na-CMC didapatkan kemampuan hambat esktrak bawang dayak tertinggi pada konenstrasi 40% dengan nilai penghambatan 10,12±1,840mm (inkubasi 24jam) dan 11,575±1,694mm (inkubasi 48jam) sedangkan dengan pelarut DMSO didapatkan daya hambat tertinggi pada konsentrasi 20% dengan nilai penghambatan 15,48 ±1,198mm (inkubasi 24jam) dan 15,91±1,625mm (inkubasi 48jam). Interpretasi hasil dari uji Wilcoxon berdasarkan peringkat, menunjukkan perbedaan yang positif pada inkubasi 48 jam. Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini diperoleh waktu inkubasi optimal dari bakteri P. acnes adalah 48 jam dengan pelarut terbaik yang dapat digunakan adalah dimetil sulfoksida (DMSO).Kata kunci: Bawang Dayak, antibakteri, DMSO, Na-CMC, waktu inkubasi

Abstract

Background: Bawang dayak (Eleutherine bulbosa Urb.) grows widely in Kalimantan. This plant can be used as a raw material for medicine and is known to contain phenolic compounds that have antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. The quality of the raw material of a plant determines its pharmacological activity. This is, of course, related to the content of compounds or active substances. One factor that plays an important role is the age of harvest, which can affect the content of compounds both qualitatively and quantitatively.Objective: To determine the simplicia characterization and total phenol content in bulbs of bawang dayak extracted using 96% ethanol, which were harvested at the ages of 1, 2, and 3 months.Method: Bulbs of bawang dayak are used in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd months with several testing stages, namely organoleptic tests, macroscopic tests, and microscopic tests. Further qualitative analysis used TLC with chloroform and methanol (8:2) as the mobile phases. In the quantitative test, we used a UV-Via spectrophotometer with the folin-ciocalteau reagent and the gallic acid comparison.Results: The TLC test showed a positive result for phenol, which was marked after being sprayed with 1% FeCl3, a black spot appeared. The results of the determination of total phenol content in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd months, respectively, were 59.196 ± 0.057, 76.596 ± 0.057, and 60.63 ± 0.2 mg/g GAE. Conclusion: The data above shows that the highest total phenol content is in the second month. Intisari Latar belakang: Bawang dayak (Eleutherine bulbosa Urb.) tumbuh menyebar di wilayah Kalimantan. Tanaman ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku obat dan diketahui mengandung senyawa fenol yang memiliki kemampuan sebagai antibakteri, antioksidan dan antiinflamasi. Kualitas bahan baku suatu tanaman sangat menentukan aktivitas farmakologinya. Hal ini tentunya berkaitan dengan kandungan senyawa atau zat aktif. Salah satu faktor yang berperan penting yaitu umur panen yang dapat mempengaruhi kandungan senyawa baik secara kualitatif maupun kuantitatif.Tujuan: Mengetahui karakterisasi simplisia dan kadar fenol total pada umbi bawang dayak yang diekstraksi menggunakan etanol 96% yang dipanen pada umur tanaman 1, 2 dan 3 bulan.Metode: Umbi bawang dayak yang digunakan bulan ke-1, 2 dan 3 dengan beberapa tahap pengujian yaitu uji organoleptis, uji makroskopis, serta uji mikroskopis. Selanjutnya analisis kualitatif menggunakan KLT dengan fase gerak kloroform: metanol (8:2). Pada uji kuantitatif menggunakan alat spektrofotometer UV-Vis dengan reagen folin-ciocalteau dan pembanding asam galat.Hasil: Uji KLT menunjukkan hasil positif fenol ditandai setelah disemprot dengan FeCl3 1% terdapat noda berwarna hitam. Hasil penetapan kadar fenol total bulan pertama, kedua dan ketiga berturut-turut yaitu 59,196 ± 0,057; 76,596 ± 0,057, dan 60,63 ± 0,2 mg/g GAE.Kesimpulan: Kandungan total fenol tertinggi pada ekstrak umbi bawang dayak terdapat pada bulan kedua.Kata kunci: Fenol, KLT, spektrofotometer UV-Vis

Abstract

The focus of community service activities is to give knowledge and information to the public about education and training on tea processing from karamunting (Rhodomyrtus Tomentosa) leaves. Activities in educational efforts related to the use of medicinal plants from Kalimantan resources and training on processing tea from karamunting leaves. This program was attended by 20 people. Extension methods in the form of lectures and direct demonstrations. Participants who participated in this activity focused only on the people who were members of the KWT (Kurnia Lestari). The media is used in the form of leaflets and brochures. Evaluation of the knowledge that has been given uses a pre-test and post-test system. Based on the pretest value, it can be seen that knowledge is 90%, while the post-test results show an increase in knowledge to (98%). The education and training program for processing tea from karamunting (Rhodomyrtus Tomentosa) leaves is considered effective as a preventive measure against the use of traditional medicine.  ---   Fokus dari kegiatan pengabmas yaitu memberikan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat mengenai edukasi dan pelatihan pengolahan teh dari daun karamunting (Rhodomyrtus Tomentosa). Kegiatan berupa edukasi tentang pemanfaatan tanaman berkhasiat obat sumber daya Kalimantan dan pelatihan pengolahan the dari daun karamunting. Program ini dihadiri 20 orang. Metode Penyuluhan berupa ceramah dan demonstrasi secarang langsung. Peserta yang berpartisipaso dalam kegiatan ini berfokus hanya pada masyarakat yang tergabung dalam KWT (kurnia lestari). Media yang digunakan berupa leaflet dan brosur. Evaluasi terhadap pengetahuan yang telah diberikan menggunakan sistem pre-test dan post test. Berdasarkan nilai pretest terlihat bahwa pengetahuan sebesar 90%, sedangkan hasil post-test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan menjadi (98%). Program edukasi dan pelatihan pengolahan teh dari daun karamunting (Rhodomyrtus Tomentosa) dinilai efektif sebagai tindakan preventif penggunaan obat tradisional.

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that function to neutralize oxidized compounds by capturing free radicals in the body so that they do not cause disease. Due to the negative effects of synthetic antioxidants, people use other alternatives with natural antioxidants found in plants. Karamunting leaf extract has great antioxidant activity. To determine the secondary metabolite content contained in the ethyl acetate extract of caramunting leaves and determine the IC50 value obtained from the antioxidant activity test of caramunting leaves. Identification of compounds using phytochemical screening methods. This antioxidant test method uses ABTS reagent (2,2-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate) and potassium persulfate which are analyzed with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The comparator used was quercetin. The results of phytochemical screening showed that the ethyl acetate extract of caramunting leaves (Melastoma malabathricum L.) contained alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, saponins and steroids. The results of determining λmax are 745 nm and the operating time measurement results are 38 - 42 minutes. The IC50 values ​​of ethyl acetate extract of caramunting leaves and quercetin were 2.2419 µg/mL and 2.6821 µg/mL respectively. The antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate extract of caramunting leaves is classified as very strong.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the potential of phytochemical contents in producing antibacterial activity from 70% ethanol extract of Balik Angin leaves  (Alphitonia incana (Roxb.) Teijsm . & Binn. ex Kurz) against Escherichia coli bacteria in silico and in vitro. In silico assay of 20 compounds contained in Alphitonia species against the DNA gyrase receptor using PLANTs. Anti-E.coli activity assay of Balik Angin leaves macerated with 70% ethanol solvent using the Well diffusion method. In silico studies show that β-Sitosterol, Stigmasterol, Rutin, Kaempferol 3-O-rutinoside, and Zizyphoiside C have binding energies with DNA gyrase that can exceed Ciprofloxacin. The antibacterial assay results at a highest concentration of 26.56 mg/ml can provide an average inhibitory zone diameter of 12.75 ± 0.2 mm with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 1.66 mg/ml (5.87 ± 1.5 mm). The 70% ethanol extract of Balik Angin leaves has the potential as an anti-Escherichia coli, supported by the content of phytochemical compounds that can act as DNA gyrase inhibitors.

Abstract

Daun ramania (B. Macrophylla Griffith) memiliki banyak manfaat dalam bidang kesehatan. Salah satu pemanfaatan sebagai tumbuhan obat yaitu dapat berefek sebagai antibakteri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui senyawa metabolit sekunder yang terkandung di dalam ekstrak metanol daun Ramania (B.macrophylla Griffith) dan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak metanol daun ramania (B. macrophylla Griffith) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri S. epidermidis. Uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak dilakukan dengan metode difusi sumuran terhadap bakteri S. epidermidis dengan 5 konsentrasi yaitu konsentrasi 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% dan 50%. Kontrol positif Klindamisin 2µg/disk dan kontrol negatif Na-CMC 0,5%. Hasil skrining fitokimia ekstrak metanol daun Ramania (B. macrophylla Griffith) mengandung flavonoid, tanin, saponin, steroid, dan fenol. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak metanol  daun ramania (B. macrophylla Griffith) memperoleh nilai rata-rata diameter zona hambat dari konsentrasi 10% yaitu 9,875 dengan kategori sedang, pada konsentrasi 20%, 30%, 40%, dan 50% yaitu memiliki nilai masing-masing 11,338 mm; 13,44 mm; 16,025 mm; 16,4 mm dengan kategori kuat. Sedangkan pada kontrol positif Klindamisin 2 µg/disk yaitu 24,55 mm dengan kategori sangat kuat dan kontrol negatif Na-CMC 0,5% tidak memiliki daya hambat. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak metanol daun ramania (B. Macrophylla Griffith) mempunyai kemampuan sebagai antibakteri dalam kategori sedang, kuat, sampai sangat kuat dalam menghambat bakteri S. epidermidis.

Abstract

An autoimmune condition known as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) results in chronic joint inflammation. Side effects that occur during long-term RA treatment are dangerous. Therefore, many people prefer herbal medicines, estimated to have lower side effects; one such herb is bawang dayak (Eleutherine bulbosa Urb.) bulbs. This study aimed to determine the class of compounds and the effective dose of the 96% ethanol extract of E. bulbosa bulbs, which had an anti-RA effect in the Wistar strain with the Adjuvant Induced Arthritis (AIA) model. Eleutherine bulbosa bulb extract was macerated with 96% ethanol. In the tests with extract doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/KgBW and methylprednisolone 15 mg/KgBW, the induction used Complete Freund's Adjuvant (CFA). Treatment was provided from day eight through 21 of the test's 21-day duration. Phytochemical screening results contain alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, quinones, saponins, steroids, and tannins. The percentage inhibition of edema volume and joint thickness, respectively, extract doses of 100, 200, 400 mg/KgBW, and methylprednisolone 15 mg/KgBW were 27.9585%, 49.3446%, 53.3239%, and 58.4629%; as well as 64.9809%, 73.8022%, 74.1444%, and 74.1825%. After analyzing the results, it was determined that E. bulbosa bulb extracts in 96% ethanol can treat RA at effective 200 and 400 mg/KgBW (p-value <0.05).

Abstract

ABSTRAK Jenis pengendalian DM antara lain pengaturan makan, olahraga dan alternatif herbal. Jenis pengobatan diabetes melitus antara lain dengan pemberian Obat Anti Diabetes Melitus (OAD) dari tenaga medis, injeksi insulin atau pemberian OAD dan injeksi insulin. Mahalnya biaya pengobatan DM memicu pencarian obat alternatif dari bahan alami yang dapat dijangkau oleh masyarakat serta memiliki efek samping minimal dibandingkan pengobatan kimia. Mitra yang dilibatkan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah mitra non produktif yang berada di Kelurahan Sungai Tiung Wilayah kerja Puskesmas Cempaka. Mitra tersebut terdiri dari masyarakat berusia 25 tahun hingga 65 tahun.  Kegiatan di mulai dari perencanaan dan persiapan yaitu studi pendahuluan, perizinan dan koordinasi dengan kader posyandu. Pelaksanaan kegiatan terdiri dari tiga kegiatan utama yaitu edukasi materi diabetes melitus, pemeriksaan kadar gula dalam darah dan pelatihan pembuatan produk. Hasil dalam kegiatan ini adalah terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat mengenai diabetes melitus dan pembuatan cuka apel. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat berjalan dengan lancar di buktikan dengan antusiasme masyarakat dalam mengikuti kegiatan. Terjadi perubahan tingkat pengetahuan antara sebelum dan sesudah diberikan penyuluhan. Kata Kunci: Edukasi, Diabetes Melitus, Cuka Apel  ABSTRACT Types of DM control include eating arrangements, exercise and herbal alternatives. The high cost of DM treatment triggers the search for alternative drugs from natural ingredients that can be reached by the public and have minimal side effects compared to chemical treatment. The partners consist of people aged 25 years to 65 years.  Activities start from planning and preparation, namely preliminary studies, licensing and coordination with posyandu cadres. The implementation of activities consists of three main activities, namely education on diabetes mellitus material, checking blood sugar levels and training on making products. The result of this activity is an increase in public knowledge and skills regarding diabetes mellitus and making apple cider vinegar. Community service runs smoothly as evidenced by the enthusiasm of the community in participating in activities.
